When the cover is on, you can't even tell it's there.

again, great install smile.gif did you do it yourself? definietly my style of install wink.gif

screw spare tire, i havent had one in about 10 years, and i have done about 70 or so cars where hte spare was ditched, not one came back a problem...short trips a AAA card or a can of fixaflat, on long trips, throw a spare int he back, still will take up less room than a big sub box in the trunk wink.gif

Really sweet, clean install. What size sub is that? What's the biggest that will fit in the spare tire well? I've been thinking of doing something just like that (maybe a 12")

Probably a dumb question, but can you still listen to the sub with the cover on? During the summer months (when I drive most often) I always have my golf clubs in my trunk and would want the cover on so as not to damage the woofer.

Nice looking install! Where is/are your amp(s)?

I plan to fit 2 amps (one of them a 6-channel surfboard!) and a 10" sub in my spare tire area.

The amps look like they are mounted on the back wall, or possibly the roof of the trunk. You can barely see part of them in the pic.

Thanks guys, its a JL 12" and ya, you can definately hear it with the cover on. The cover is on at all times, to minimilize the chance of something hitting the cone. The nice thing about it is, that you can't really hear it outside of the car. I have a JL 500/1 and 300/4 Amp's powering everything, and there's so much dynamat that it's not like a ricer stereo where the whole block can hear ya. Which btw I had in my old car, and I think I've grown out of that stage.. not by much though. biggrin.gif
Bing, I was fortunate enough to buy the car from a guy who spent lots of time and $$ on the stereo, a local shop in Seattle did it. You can see the custom amp rack on the under side of the rear deck. I thought heat would be a problem, but there is about a 1.5" gap from the bottom of the amp's to the rear deck, it's almost like they're suspended in the air.

the whole mounting amps upside down being a no no is somehwat outdated, amny of the good amps today will run all day long upsided down without over heating... i do try to avoid it when i install, but mainly becuase i usually hide my amps below the floor and such...

Yup. Dynamat all over the place. There is nothing else under there except for the JL. The amps are under the rear deck.

Kickass man! You'll love it when you're done, big sound, keep the trunk space. A note of suggestion. What kind of music do you listen to? Bing_0 can correct me if I'm wrong, but if you listen to Rap or hip-hop a bunch, go with a big (12") speaker. If you listen to metal or rock, I would vote going with something smaller say 8 or 10" the rock bass sounds are less drawn out than the bass in a rap song. So.. you'd get better response out of a smaller speaker for rock. Maybe 2 10's or something... I dunno... Good luck bro.
