Hi,
I have installed a pair of Infinity Kappa 5.25 components up front and Infinity Kappa 5x7" two ways in the back deck of my 850. Right now they are being powered by an alpine headunit, which is absolutely starving for more power. I want to add a 4 channel amplifier this week to my setup, but am having a hard time determining how much power I need. The front components are rated at 85 watts RMS and the rear are 100 watts RMS. I'm assuming this is the maximum power the speakers can handle for a continuous amount of time before they blow. What size amp should I get to take advantage of these speakers? Right now I'm between at 50Wx4 or 75Wx4, either rockford fosgate or MTX. I could really use any suggestions that anyone has to offer. I don't want to get carried away having to purchase a huge power kit for my car, etc...but at the same time I don't want to grab an amplifier and wish that things could still be louder.
Also, if I ever decide to purchase a sub, I would get a seperate sub amp, so don't factor anything like that into a recommendation. thanks!

If you're deciding between RF and MTX, the choice is all up to you. As long as you go for a reputable brand you should be fine.

dont get lost on the numbers game, anything around 50 watts is fine, more hte better, also, make sure the amp or headunit can high pass the speakers 
as for brand, mtx and rf are fine, whcih ever one is cheaper or you like the way they look better

awesome, thanks for the advice guys. I ended up going with an MTX 404, 50Wx4. Should serve me well. It has a high pass built into it, but I will probably use my HU for the high pass just because it will be easier to control from the front of the car. Do I want to use a high pass though? I won't be adding a sub to my setup....at least yet.

the lower the THD the better 50-100watts RMS in the car is LOUD!

I would stick to a 50 Watt RMS amp, that way you lower your chance of blowing the speakers, esp b/c you have a factory amp installed, unless you bypass!...

I don't have a factory amp installed. My speaker wattages RMS are rated at 85 and 100....i got a 50Wx4...I hope i will be able to get everything out of my speakers and that I didn't get an amp that's too weak....

Speakers rarely blow from TOO much power unless you are running several hundred Watts above rated.
Speakers usually blow from Too little power and distortion or from Too much Bass.
50Watts RMS is plenty of power if it is coming from a good External AMP.
Especially in 850's where they place the speakers so close to your head!!!
I really wish they had put 6.5's in the front doors like everybody else in the world.

I got a nice JL Audio e-4300 4 channel amp for sale, don't know that wattage off hand, but it is very nice, and made my Boston Acoustics sound great, much better sound coming from them.
