Ready to tackle heater core replacement ...but from pics could not see why the glove compartment liner needed to be removed and those two screw losen? Okay I ask a lot of question but I am a newbie.

The glovebox liner does not need removed for either the core or the motor job, and yes that pic is from an 850 so your car looks just like it.

Just replaced the heater core on my V70 with the aid of your site. So easy its untrue. Got heater core off e-bay for £100 not £240 + vat from Volvo. Fits fine and works OK. Thanks for the help. By the way the glove box DOES need removing for a V70 otherwise you can break the supporting tags for the parsel shelf. Be warned.

Left hand steering does not require removal of GB. Right hand, perhaps.

is it possible to bypass using a heater core for a short time.
possibly using a piece of hosing, to connect the two pipes together?
or do you think it would cause any problems?
i really dont need the heat to work right now. considering its 70+ outside.

YES. I hope this will work for a 98 V70 R, I have a faint smell at times and haven't looked on the floor for coolant but it's good to know the fix is doable myself if the need should arrise so tight, I love Fridays ! Good post man, pics too..

Hi there =]

Was just referred to this thread, and it's an awesome help!

Yet, I am a virgin at do-it-yourself repair, so please excuse the many perceived stupid questions to follow please =]

I'm going to piggyback on a previous question - why oes the glove box need to be removed? I don't see from the pictures why? I saw that the V70 needs to have it done, but I have an S70 '98 - does that still need to be done?

Also, do you only need a torx screwdriver? Is there a specific size?

Is there a safe way oe preferred method tu pulling back the carpet/padding?

Any other things an idiot would need to know before undertaking this task?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!
