I jsut bought a Q-logic single 12'' box, and it sounds like jerk, its completely sealed and i was wondering if i cut a big hole in the side how much better/worse it would sound.

Do not get pre-fab boxes. they're never good. Build a box specifically for the sub, amp, location, and types of music you listen to.

i would say not all prefab boxes have to sound abd, if its correctly built pre fab, and its of the right airspace for hte particular sub, then it can sound perfectly fine.

as to why your sub sounds bad, what sub do you have? and how big of a box did you stick it in? and yes, if htere is a hole int he surround it could make a flapping sound as air escapes through the tear, and it is alsoa an air leak in your box whcih is bad.

Jason, I may take you up on that offer...i have some good boxes in my wagon, but they rob me of space...i need a custom built for the rear...2 12"...gimme an estimate with matching carpet...i'm in LA, but drive to San diego often....

behind the rear seat specifically, and the cool part is that my subs are only about 5-6" from the from the front to the end of the magnet, so they can sit close to the rear seat, esp with the little angle in the box!...quote me a total price

...oh, how much would it cost to go into the spare wheel compartment...that would mean i can use my full trunk, right?...quote me both, and let's see....everything included, parts labor, etc....

Note that i can't afford to pay alot of cash right now, but if the price is right and reasonable, i may run down there....i am working on performance at the moment!

My 12" Q-Logic sounds pretty good, IMO. I've heard custom installations that don't sound as clean or tight.

I got a custom made box for my sub for sale with the sub, but can sell seperatley. It is for a 12" and is ported. Sounds awsome.

this one i got for my 10" sub seems to sound alright...QLogic Single 10" box..got it cause i didn't wanna lose spare, and wanted ease of removal.
