So my other passion besides Volvos has always been BMWs. I have owned an E30 325is for a while and plan on just having it as an autocross toy. I had been looking for the past year for a newer car, but I wanted something that was quick, not impossible to modify, comfortable, and practical. I first considered a 2012 C30 T-5 R-Design, but decided it was overpriced as a new car for what it offered. I then considered an S60R, but I think too many people have them nowadays. Although its a nice car, the interior on them isn't as new as I would like it to look, or with enough bells and whistles.
I ended up getting a 2007 BMW E90 335xi sedan. In case anyone doesn't know these cars, its a straight-6, N54 engine (twin-turbo), 300 hp, AWD. Still under BMW warranty, 70K miles on it now. The high pressure fuel pump and injectors have already been replaced, and everything is up to speed. These cars are known to hit 400 hp easily with a $500 plug-in tune and exhaust.

The annual Volvos @ Ikea meet returns for the 2012 season!

This is the third time the spring version of the annual Volvos @ Ikea meet will be held at the Stoughton, MA location.

Please, if you are going to take part in the caravan, be at my house no later than 10:00 AM the morning of the meet.
Traditionally, some people stay over at my house the night before if they are from out of town. You are more than welcome to do so, please just inbox me first!

I haven't posted in quite some time about my 744 TiC SE. This winter I took it off the road and put it into a storage unit to start getting serious about making this thing faster. So, here is what I had planned for winter modifications:
-aluminum plenum intake manifold with 3" TB from an 850 N/A
-large FMIC, while trying to put it as close to possible as the OEM location..with all 3" tubing and silicone hoses
-evo III 16g6 turbo with Hahn Racecraft 10 cm turbine housing
-polyurethane motor mounts (have to switch to 89- motor mounts and brackets to clear the turbo)
-IPD turbo performance camshaft and cam gear
-AEM digital fuel pressure, oil temp, water temperature gauges

So..I started with the intake install first. This was supposed to be pretty straight forward, and it was..I just had to do lots of little things to get it to work with my specific car.
The manifold has a much better flow and lower intake temperatures than the factory intake. All vacuum ports are on the bottom side of the intake for a cleaner look too. The fuel rail is also replaced with an aluminum one with braided fuel lines.
i am also running Tomco 42 lb injectors, with an adjustable FPR running @ 4 bar fuel pressure. Factory setting is about 2.5 bar, so I am running substantially more fuel.
The intake manifold has a front facing throttle body, I am using a 3" throttle body from an 850 N/A, with an adapted bracket to use the LH 2.4 throttle position sensor.
Off of the intake manifold, all tubing is 3" aluminum piping now with 3", 5 layer silicone intake tubing. I had to make a custom IAC port on the cold side tubing..I just used hose fittings and rubber grommets after drilling the pipe. This leads to the new 31x12x3 aluminum intercooler. I had to trim back some of the sheet metal under where the hood pins go in to allow the intercooler to sit in the factory rubber mounting points, to keep it low and maximize air flow.
I also removed the rest of the AC by deleting the condenser and fan that originally went in front of the factory IC. now it is air going straight to the IC. I had to move the tranny cooler forward about 1/2" to fit it in, as well as relocate the oil cooler back a few inches.
I also removed the windshield washer system while I was on the hot side of the intercooler to maximize room. I barely drive the car, and its mostly for boosting around or tracking, so it wasn't being used anyways.
The oil dipstick tube itself also had to be removed and bent to a new shape to clear the manifold.
I also installed a new catch can and mounted it on the passengers side, utilizing the factory coolant reservoir bracket.
It took some work to make everything work hand-in-hand.

here is a video of the first start. we then discovered an air leak at the TPS, and cylinder 4's injector o-ring was leaking fuel everywhere
yesterday i fixed the fuel leak and air leak, and it was still running lean..but it turns out it was my new IAC hose that was creasing over when running and choking the motor out. going to fix it today and try it again!
