S70 N/a Still Runs Awful Most Of The Time.

17 March 2012 - 01:36 PM

Hey everyone,

My dad is pretty much getting to the point where he wants to drive his S70 (the one in the signature) into a lake. His words, not mine. He's put far too much money in the car the past two years and right now it's not exactly driveable.

It's a strange situation. Just recently the car has started to run lousy on and off. Perfect, normal working condition for the first morning drive, but any time after that it runs rough. I haven't driven it, but it sounds like the car is a diesel running on 2/5 cylinders. Car makes no power, won't pass 70 km/h (Yes, I'm Canadian) and feels like it's in limp-home mode. Then, leave it overnight, and it's fine again for the first drive.

As far as repairs go we've had the car in to replace the ETM and 3 coil packs. The spark plugs were arcing and the mechanic also replaced the worn ones. As far as the other two coil packs go, those have been replaced in the past 2 years. The car has all new motor mounts throughout, a fairly new clutch, fairly new ECU. The gas mileage is normal under all conditions.

I honestly don't know what's going on, can any techs or anyone with a familiar experience help shine some light?

Also, once the ETM was fixed the codes went away and we've got nothing as far codes go now.
Thanks!
