Car sat in the garage for about a week and a half while on vacation. Tried three long cycles of cranking, and it would occassionally stumble but not start. Cranked at normal speed. Thought I smelled fuel and didn't want to run the battery down, so I threw it on a charger and tried again after a couple hours. This time it started--after maybe 6-10 secs of cranking, ran rough for a minute or two, and then was fine after that. Tried it again 2 days later and it was normal--cranks for about 2 secs and then starts. (This car does seem to need that couple seconds; my others don't.)
Any ideas what caused this? Fuel pump/check valve are likely original (at 130k and 16 years) but I've left it go a week before without this issue. Battery is a couple years old but it did seem to crank OK.
Thanks for any ideas!
