2)I love what he did with California's economy. Hopefully a company as great as Enron can create a flukey situation where someone like him could actually be elected president.
3)As long as they aren't a zealot
4)I always thought this was restricted to white christian males and then Obama got elected so I guess women should be allowed to try

A guy stands up and says, "Hey, see me? I'm a Marine. See that 6'2" 230 lb. guy? He's a Marine. See that guy, 6'4" 250, he's a Marine. Still want to tell that joke?"
Soldier: "Not if I have to explain it three times."

There is alot wrong with how you see the world.
1. Its not Obama's Government its United States Government (He just leads the Executive Branch)
2. Social Security is about to be Broke and really people would have been much better off had they had the option to invest the money themselves over the long run. The return on investment for the American people has been extremely negative but again Socialist thought it could actually work! HAHA I guess, the same goes for Medicare and whatever other programs the socialist have tried to implement and have over the years turned into the giant problems we are dealing with today.
3. Free Access To Education? We pay for it its not free. Also, its one of the worst $ to results systems in the world because the government is in control. Let the money follow the kids and give them choice. Make Education a free market with government backed vouchers and then you will see how bad the government and teachers unions really are.
4 This one really had me laughing... so I made it bold in your post. Really, the government has a magical ability to create actual wealth? No they can create debt and inflate currency but they cannot create wealth. So again, this is payed for by the hard working American people (about 50% of the population)
5. The government regulates our economy and I agree. Lets all see how that is going? Yep, pretty much sucks because of many reasons that are spawned from the results of socialism such as corporate taxes. "AKA, lets make all our companies want to leave because we make them struggle on a world market". I would say alot more but simply put I don't really care enough to argue it.
6. Seriously, you want to government to control what people eat? Maybe they will make everyone who is fat go to a camp and put them on the Auschwitz diet!
There is a lot wrong with how you understand the world and what I am talking about. I see the world the same way you do, I just use my intellect to understand what's going on as well.
1. The way you people argue about our government, for fox news' and your purposes it is "Obama's government"
2. Social Security is a welfare program. I wasn't arguing about what Bush's administration and the republicans did to it's status.
3. Ugh, if I had a kid I could go sign him up for elementary school without having to pay tuition (for free). I wasn't talking about the fact that I don't have a kid and I do pay for elementary schools to operate. That's how a social welfare system works. We pay, you use it, when I have a kid I'll use it too. It's for the common good. The "free enterprise" system of schooling you're talking about leads to unequal opportunities, not that it's equal right now. The way it should work is rich assholes shouldn't be afraid to send their kids to any public school in the country, they should all be equal and the private school voucher program isn't helping.
4. What are you talking about? The government has a budget... I pay rent (or taxes) to live in this country and they spend it on stuff to make it worth living in. One of the things they spend it on is fixing roads, I know you drive past a construction zone somewhere on your way to work unless you live in the boonies.
5. You don't like regulation, move to Somalia.
6. When did I say I want them to control what I eat? I eat organic foods when I can by choice and it wouldn't hurt if people like you were influenced to so the same. When I can't find an organic alternative I have to buy corn products because the government pays farmers to grow too much corn which forces companies to put it in my food making things like Coca-Cola taste worse than it does in Canada and Europe. Anyone who has ever traveled abroad and enjoyed a Coke knows what I am talking about.
Also, are you a teacher? Do you know anything about teacher unions and school vouchers other than what you see on TV?

So someone has to prove your negative assertion? How about you go ahead and prove your positive assertion that the Obama administration is Socialist by any traditional definition of the word, because up to now listening to you attempt to define socialism reminds me of this:
Obama is a socialist because:
His government collects taxes
His government provides services to the people that those taxes pay for
Senior citizens in this country can collect social(ist) security checks
People in this country have access to free education (K-12)
People in this country are allowed to make use of a communication and transportation infrastructure paid for and maintained by the government
Corn farmers are subsidized
Oil companies are subsidized
The government regulates our mixed economy
And there are many more reasons.
Now I don't see what the problem with this is except for the reasons behind the corn and oil subsidies. I want to know why it's a bad thing that we have all of these opportunities in the land of opportunity or why it's bad that the government can force companies to stop selling things that are overtly harmful to the population (except for cigarettes and fast food because big tobacco and big food are too powerful)

You say that our government has had socialist currents, include examples from history to demonstrat this, and in the same breath, say calling Obama socialist is right wing bullshit? I'm very very confused. How come answering Fishey's question is so hard? If he isn't socialist, it shouldn't be hard to prove this. And saying that America has had socialist tones over the years does not mean that Obama is therefore not socialist if he has kept with the trend.
I am not saying he's not at all socialist. I am saying it's nothing new so what's the big deal? This is such an empty argument. The discussion should be about what the Tea Bagger Party agenda is because all I have heard about is lower taxes, no national health care, etc. How do they plan to do this and what do they think will work better? They win primaries by calling Obama socialist and because the spineless democrats can't defend themselves but what do they plan to do if they get into office?

Not relevant in any way. His question is not a "obama vs. bush" question. He wants to hear an arguement that Obama is socialist. Presidential history is 110% irrelevant in the answer.
I was simply giving an example of what socialist intervention in the economy looks like. Our government has had socialist currents ever since its inception, i.e. free public schooling, USPS, Amtrak, our interstates, all funded by the government and the use of our taxes. Calling Obama a socialist is simply a right wing ploy to incite negative emotions in less informed Americans in order to artificially strengthen their position in economic and social debates. It is a non-issue and that is all I am trying to point out.

Well, come on with it. I am simply brining up the subject again since people seem to disagree on the current administration pushing a socialist agenda. Also, any reply that refers to bush is not a valid answer and you will be ridiculed at your own retardation if you talk about any other administration.
If Obama is "pushing socialism," how would you describe the Bush Administration's trillion dollar bailout of the Wall Street banks with tax payer dollars? Isn't that socialism? As a free market capitalist, you were probably against that even though I never heard you fox news types call Bush a socialist.

And there it is, NEWSWEEK.
Finally you show your colors.
Not that that was in doubt, you just never were specific about your sources of info.
Dude, that rag is dead. You and 3 other people read it. Save yourself some money, cancel your subscription, your gonna need it to pay your health care taxes.
so what do people read these days if it's not the New Yorker or Newsweek? The New York Post? The Washington Times?

Wow! I agree with you on something and that is your opinion of Che. I hate those t-shirts and the idiots that wear them. They know nothing of what he stood for, what he did, and what wearing his mass produced image symbolizes.

Sometimes I just have to shake my head in wonder.
I just have to doubt that you've done much reading about or talked with people who lived under a communist system.
The Pledge of Allegiance is not a song, by the way. (haha, I'm sure you know this, but I couldn't resist.)
How is comparing Obama to Hitler "downright racism"? If you want to talk about being "brainwashed", that statement comes closer to it than an other I can remember reading in this entire thread.
And, in listening to some people who lived through those times, the ideas that some of Obama's "czars" espouse are eerily akin to those of Hitler and his cronies and disciples.
Any comparison between an American president and a fascist dictator along the lines of Hitler is a huge stretch, as much of a stretch as my sarcastic remark about how communist the pledge of allegiance is (not a song i know
I do like how the media and everyone else use the word Czar though. It just proves how ridiculous some things are in this country.

or blindly directed towards obama the great?
I was referring to the Pledge of Allegiance... it was ingrained into my head as a child and I said it because I was brainwashed into supporting whatever the flag stood for on that day. I said it the day the DOW Jones hit 10000 for the first time, I said it on September 11, 2001, and I said it the day George Bush lied to the United States about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. Sadly, each day the song had the same words and I said it as blindly as the day before, given some days were sadder and more important than others. The Pledge of Allegiance should be the song everyone is freaking out about, not some stupid black history month celebration of the first black president. I forgot how many things in this country have double standards I guess.
Talk about singing praises to Hitler:

And seriously? Compare Obama to Hitler? To compare any current world leader to Hitler, especially Obama (downright racism), is to downplay what happened in Eastern Europe during WWII. Have some respect for the millions that died at the hands of Hitler's policies. At least compare Hitler to another genocidal maniac like Stalin or someone.
On a different note, how many people would support a military engagement in Iran considering the news? If our military has the support it needs, I would. I don't know what the chances of another Israeli hail mary (or shema to be PC about it) bombing run would work like it did in Iraq.
