Something We All Wonder If Its Really True?

18 May 2012 - 12:20 PM

Yes it is Euro fuel, but interesting none the less from a non- biased point of view. Myself I only use Shell 91 with the new engine vs the Sunoco 94 that I have always used in the past.

Night At Mclaren

16 May 2012 - 12:31 PM

Last night I was invited to a soiree at McLaren Canada. The invite was through friends of mine from the BMW Club of Canada -Trillium Chapter.

Heard a few speeches from the president and others from McLaren on the MP4- 12C and what to expect in the future. Had some food and drinks and basically just talked shop all night. The cost isnt as high as I would have thought even at Canadian prices. About 260K to get a nicely equipped MP4.

The car is much better in person that what I had seen on the net or paper other than the cheap looking badge on the steering wheel. I`d still take a 458 though! Funny enough the guy that sold me my T5 at Volvo 7 yrs ago now works at McLaren.. And hes still a snobby English wanker lol.

Heres a few Iphone shots. One vid. I forgot to add that this will end up being the baby McLaren in the future. Seems like a flagship is in the works. Sorta like the Gallardo - Aventador.

Ac Compressor Issue

14 May 2012 - 12:08 AM

I just charged my AC system the other day since I havent done so since the build. Anyways, I was getting nice cold AC for a few days until today when I had nothing all of a sudden. Other than the compressor the AC system was all replaced a few years back, but now when I turn on the AC the clutch isnt engaging all of a sudden. Would this be a relay issue?

T5 Vs 335I And Modded M3

07 May 2012 - 12:16 AM

I was at an Auto X event today that a friend runs. On the way up I was running a little late and movin along pretty good when I noticed a 335I on my ass as I slowed down to about 60mph. He backs off a little and all of a sudden he's right on me again and then tries to pass me. With that, Im in 3rd at 4000rpm and ready! Just as he gets a half car lenght on me, I hammer it! By the time I hit 120mph he was bus lenghts behind! He tried 4 times to pull me, and every time I walked him. The guy never looked over at me once lol.

I didnt run the Volvo at the Auto X as I have a smoked Dela link - bad tie rod - and my HG was off by 2hg?. Anyways, we had some fun in my friends wifes tuned 335i(that she raced also  ) His car is a heavily modded SMG E46 M3 but that had rubbing issues and also didnt run.

On the way home I said to him lets do a few pulls as I want to see where my car is being its only at 13-14psi at the moment as Im still using a stock PCV - plus although the tune is safe, its not that aggressive. Sort of a baseline pull test? The M has big cams- headers - no cats -intake- exhaust- "4.10" diff (makes a huge difference I might add) - BBK- Rims - Coilovers ect ect. Its got around 380hp.

So we went for it a few times. The first time I was behind him and basically stayed with him from 60 -130mph. Second he got the jump and pulled a me a lenght. 3rd time I got the jump by a half a lenght and held 2 lenghts till 130mph. So, really it was about even. Oh, and my turbo hose blew right off at 130mph at the last run. That was the reason why my HG was off and felt as if the car was slower than usual on the way up. So I fixed that, and an on the way home she felt strong again plus my HG was back to 21.

Anyways, Im pretty happy that my car at only 13-14psi with a bad seal on the turbo to intercooler hose, and not really dialed in at all, was pretty even with an SMG M3 modded to the tits.

20psi+ - WMI - and tuned - should really make all the difference over the next while as I would say I have another 80HP in the car at least!. Heres a pic of the M3 last year before the BBK at Mosport DDT track (Rain did stop) Amazing car!

Edit.. Another friend of ours has an HPF 600+whp M3 on a stock motor although he wasnt there today. I have to say that seems the E46 M3s are now getting down around 16K-18K give or take -with a Turbo kit or SC kit these cars tick all the boxes for me and they have rear seats for the kids with a big trunk. hmm? lol

Back To Volvo

03 May 2012 - 03:46 PM

After a 4 year hiatus my Father is back to Volvo. In 1999 he bought an S70 GLT - 2001 was a S60 2.4T AWD and then 2005 was a 2.5T AWD - all of them fully jammed and he never had an issue with any of them. Funny part is his favorite was the 99 that had one of the best sounding systems Ive ever heard for stock.. well back then anyways!

He then bought a 2008 Saab Turbo X new. Although its a great lookin car with huge brakes , handles great, and a fantastic AWD system, its been a problem!

So heres his new S60 R- Design - Polstar tuned 325hp and 354trq- BLIS - Multimedia Pkg that has a 12 speaker 650watt stereo- Nav and backup camera ect, plus this car has the Conti Sport contact 3s as an option. It just arrived off the boat, and the windows will be getting a 35% tint before pickup.

Best numbers Ive see so far was 0-60 in 5.2 and 13.6 in the 1/4mile at 103mph tested by Motorweek, but they used the all season tires instead of the sticky summer CS3s tires which make a big difference around a track.
