In Topic: Too Much Pressure In Coolant System

14 May 2012 - 01:25 PM

Thanks for the responses,

If the problem only starts when the engine is warm, and no real amount of coolant is being burnt then it would make sense that there is a clog somewhere - but how can I drive the car for an hour at a time and not overheat if the coolant is not circulating ???

The engine does not run hot at all, I have been driving it for 2 - 1 hours trips a day for a few weeks now, but only recently realized the severity of the problem. It would not have made those trips if it was overheating.

If it is an exhaust leak would it be possible for only the exhaust gasses to get into the collant paths but not for the coolant to get into the exhaust ?

Is it ppossible to find a clog/deal with it ?

I changed the thermostat about a year ago and noticed it was cut open, I wonder what that was about, I replaced it and didnt see any problems since, I will take out the T-stat and see how it runs without it.

Also with regards to the PO - I have the receipt from the mechanic for $1200 for the HG repair - thats not to say he didnt try that quick fix stuff after it he thought the problem wasnt fixed

Basically this leaves me with a dead engine ??? the thing is it must habe been a slow build up to get to this point - the car lasted 3 yrs like this so I am wondering fi I can do a flush on the coolant system to try uncloggin it.
