I just had my dealer install a new Volvo exhaust system on our '95 854, 160k miles. The system is welded in one piece.
The car had a barely noticeable rattle when it was started cold. The rattle gradually got worse, so I complained.
The tech who did the job told me that it was mounted properly and the part number was correct.
Well, it got worse so I crawled under the car and saw that the tail pipe was touching the left rear spring and was about 1 inch too low.
I hosed the shop manager (I am a VERY faithful customer) - I told him that if the part was bad, they should help me talk to Volvo. He had them order another new system and had their head tech install it.
The second system had the same problem.
They had to heat and bend the rear pipe and heat and rebend the hangar - now it fits properly.
They took copies of my pictures (I have two 850s) and told me that they would talk to Volvo.
