I once entertained the same idea myself and after several hours on a couple of different forums I ditched the idea. It wasn't the cost of admission but future maintenance itself. The same choices aren't there that you have with mainstream cars, not to mention when selling something like that down the road every potential buyer wants documentation. Not arguing with your logic though, the most expensive rides I've owned have been the cheapest to maintain.
