Door locks are a common problem and easy to replace. Just go to a junkyard and pick some new actuators (they might break eventually too but for the time being you will be happy).

Welcome to the club of Volvo owners experiencing a whining noise.
I just got my car back from my mechanic. Took the serpentine belt off - noise was still there. I went ahead and did the whole shabang - timing belt, tensioners, pulleys, water pump...the lot (they were 6 years old and my mechanic said the idler pulley actually looks to be original! So much for trusting a Volvo dealer...).
Started the car up this morning...noise is still there.
I guess it could be the oil pan o-rings, but I can't afford to mess with it anymore right now and from what I've heard this does not pose catastrophic danger to the entire engine.

An 04 T5M, isn't that extremely rare?

New or used?
If you are willing to go used, I'd suggest some of the Kenwood KDC-X series. I really like the way X996 looks and I've heard only good things about sound quality. I might be getting one soon...brand new they are $250-300 but there are some lightly used ones out there.
