i'v replaced etms and had them come back in 2 weeks and the brand new etm was junk! lol so don't rule it out. but my 99 glt did the same thing and i never tried to figure it out.
you can try to do a hard battery cable reset (disconnect the batt positive and negative let the sit for five mins then touch the pos and neg together and hold for 30 seconds or so) this will reset all modals.its worth a try.
i'll be there with some info on the new polestar software. i'll be there for me and for volvo village of norwell! im sure they will give me a new s60 with the polestar or something cool to look at. can't wait to see you all!
i know on the 2001 and ups its in the front of the engine about 3 inches to the left of the starter on the front of the block.(when standing in front of the car) its a pain to get to under the manifold. im pretty sure its the same on 850 x70s,good luck!
