Since it's seen from the bottom, my money is on Turbo inlet cooling hose part #6842190 which has different ID on each end.
Get the oem Volvo from dealership as it's pita to replace that you only want to do it once - aftermarket may be hit and miss you don't want to go that route.

#4 is NOT what I replaced. #4 is the input speed sensor, which tells the transmission what the engine speed is. I replaced the vehicle speed sensor, which IPD does not apparently carry. They do carry this - http://www.ipdusa.co...0-1999-2004-c70 - but that particular part is apparently not for a '98. Mine looks slightly different - no notch - but the connector and general size are the same. They may or may not be compatible. I did another 50 miles or so today and have had no shifting weirdness and no ABS light.

It *seems* the issue may have been the speed sensor in the transmission. I swapped the one that came with the transmission with the one in the original box. In a 15 mile drive last night and a 10 mile drive this morning my shifting has been perfect and no more ABS light. I've never completed one drive without the shifting issue, and never completed two drives without the ABS issue. Still, it's been very wet here so I haven't been driving as aggressively as I might otherwise. I will put another 30 miles on it yet today.

Please confirm if "4. Transmission input speed sensor near the driver's side frame rail, that ties into the main transmission wiring harness - http://www.ipdusa.co...850-v70-s70-c70" is what you replaced.
Would be great if you'll give update after couple of hundred miles or more if this permanently fix the abs and shifting issue.
Misfires can be due to worn cap and rotor. Also what type of Champion plugs did you use, gapped how?

Shoot me a pm of what you have in mind and what mod will remain in the car - not in any hurry either. Thanks
