XP *might* run, but the drivers wont be right. and if ts a proprietary form of xp (For example a Sony Vaio Laptop) it may not run at all if it's not in the right PC. (Running a Hard drive From a V505 DX will not boot in a V505 EC, unless it's been formated for the EC.) Yes, I do know this from experience.
