  1. Wow.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vAeYJV5P0jk
  3. Not sure yet, but I'm going to try to replicate a few copies in SS soon. A local welder can do magic in SS and can do it. Main thing will be the baffle, I'd like to try to replicate the sound since it was exactly what the car called for.
  4. Waiting to pull the head off the engine with a friend who runs a shop outside of Lex. He's worked on these cars in the past. In the meantime, fixed the exhaust issues: Untitled by Exim-Cars, on Flickr Untitled by Exim-Cars, on Flickr Planning on welding a strip of metal over it. Can't find another exhaust I like. Baby steps this week between some cars for work coming in and Thanksgiving.
  5. Does he own the DS as well ? I'm selling one in the same color on Ebay right now. Nice T1, sure he doesn't want to sell it ? Why the respray in a different color ?
  6. To keep it from shorting out on the charge pipe. Because the $1.39 terminal covers were just too damn expensive!
  7. I like the non painted section of radiator support in the center. It goes great with the rust.
  8. Speaking of wipers, the rear wiper makes me want to punch a kitten.
  9. It's thick as mud. Glad to see the oil pump has a good screen on it, it kept the gunk out of it or thinned it out enough to avoir disaster.
  10. Oil pump pick up is going to be pulled tonight and cleaned as well. DSC_0052 by Exim-Cars, on Flickr Green dot on the rod scared me until I realized that it was a mark from the factory. DSC_0057 by Exim-Cars, on Flickr Anyway. Just waiting on a large parts order with a new clutch line, fresh motor mounts, a new oil cooler, etc... and the car will be put back together. Realistic timeline is to have it up and running during the holidays since I plan on finally taking some time off work.
  11. And this is why you don't let a car sit for 13+ years.... DSC_0049 by Exim-Cars, on Flickr DSC_0069 by Exim-Cars, on Flickr DSC_0050 by Exim-Cars, on Flickr Anyway, oil pan is off and cleaned. DSC_0076 by Exim-Cars, on Flickr I sanded and repainted the outside (no pics yet).
  12. Apparently, even the CIA couldn't keep everything secret. His new book is called All In. Coincidence, or not ?
  13. Lol, noobs: http://loweredlifestyle.com/urban-outlaw/
  14. Thanks for the responses. Je suis de Grenoble. Expat depuis plus de la moitié de ma vie, mais je me rappelle d'une Turbo qu'avais un voisin, une des toutes premieres avec le super tableau de bord et j'ai toujours eu un point faible pour ces voitures. I have never tried, oddly enough. It never felt right enough to push to its limits so I ended up dismantling the car bit by bit. The car was parked (b/c of the clutch, I think) about 13 years before I bought it. It was "made to run" by the shop that sold it to me in CA, but those never had it running well, it would barely idle. I got it running with some basic fuel system fixes but it was never right. Did an oil change since I had my doubts that those tools had used adequate oil and when I used synthetic, I essentially flushed out any gunk from the system. That caused a bunch of gunked up oil to go into the oil cooler, blocking it and creating the excessive oil pressure. But I'm still checking the oil pump this week, as well as all oil passages in the engine when we take it apart. Tell him to call me if he wants to sell it. No joke, I get about 3-4 requests for these cars each month, they're still very much in demand. This is Grey market vehicle, never officially imported into the US. But Sun International was one of 2-3 importers who knew how to do it legally. It has a clear US title and is insured like a regular car. I have every intention of racking up miles on it as soon as I can. :o
  15. Group B trim can be many things. I'm not going for the Maxi look, this is a car that would be best in its mostly original state. Here is one for sale in Quebec, David has done a ton of work on it but he's moving on: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/renault-5-turbo-2-/290805146704?forcev4exp=true#ht_500wt_1182
  16. Thanks Mike. Basically, the car mostly sat since the last update. I drove it right around Christmas 2011 but ended up with excessive oil pressure, the car was spewing oil from everywhere and into the exhaust. I decided to park it rather than risk doing any damage. Sent the turbo for a rebuild, pulled the oil cooler and the car sat. My job took off and the car lost my attention. Since it's impossible to get anything done in 45 minutes, I kept waiting for the 3-4 hour window to open up. Didn't happen until this past week. The fact that another couple of cars for work are coming through Lexington lit a fire under my butt. Pulled the engine and transmission Saturday. I've since separated the engine and transmission. That answered the question about why the car was parked in the first place: one of the discs is worn down to the springs.... Anyway, goal is to have the engine opened up and inspected by end of the week. I'll check the oil pump, cylinder walls, coolant passages to make sure everything's clean and working. Once that's done, it'll go back in with a fresh OEM clutch.
  17. IAC's like a little cleaning every now and then. Another thing you'll polish ? I love what you're doing with this car. I wouldn't lose sleep if you decided to lose the blue hoses, but that's just me. The 3 black lines on the fuel rail cover in Saffron. You know you want to, you know you do....
  18. Correct, you're fine Greg. And ignore anything Adam says. I knew how to install a thermostat housing gasket when he was still trying to learn to pump gas.
  19. The ones IPD carries always worked for me. Use the shims and you'll be fine with the squeals.
  20. http://www.bizchair.com/bt-2905-gg.html $90, shipped.
  21. http://bizchair.com It's where I got mine. Tracked a few chairs for a month or so, checked their prices to Office Depot, etc... and they were usually about 30% of normal retail prices. I love the one I got, nothing fancy but it works. No more bruises on my thighs from the old wooden chair.
  22. We have every season on DVD and iTunes, but I'd still like fresh material.
  23. When does the new season start ? I'm in TG withdrawal right now and it sucks.
  24. Yeah, those damn crevasses are deceiving, you'll be busy for a little while with it! Trav: stick yours in FS, the kiddos will go nuts and offer you $25 of their lunch money.
  25. Might as well, it's off and honestly, only the top 1/2 or 2/3's need polished. The underside can't be seen anyway.
