  2. Yeah, I really need to do something about that airfilter. Since the reducer from the filter to the MAF is so short the airfilter flange sits about an inch from the face of the MAF. I'm sure that's giving me some wonky flow numbers. At the moment the ECU doesn't do anything with the boost sensor. It's just there to correlate to the rest of the parameters my ECU is logging.
  3. I was abroad for 4 months and have just recently be reunited with my lovely car. I've been fiddling a bit and figured I'd give this thread a nice little update. I got rid of my knock HKS SSQV. The response time was crap and I was constantly getting backfires and compressor stall. I decided to go with a Synapse Synchronic full VTA. Thanks Gary! The response is practically immediate, but since it is VTA I still occasionally get backfires. I integrated a boost sensor into my ECU with the help of Tuner Pro. I also used the read 02 wires to run the linear output of my wideband to the ECU. A sample of the values I use to tune: I also added a 3.25" ID aluminum MAF to give me a bit more headroom in load calculation. I'm still working on my TCV; for some reason it wants to stay fully closed no matter how I configure it. Right now I'm running just off of the wastegate, but its not a problem since I'm pretty much out of headroom with my greens. At 15psi I'm close to 95% duty. I just ordered some 650cc remanned injectors; hopefully I can get them working well.
  4. No offense, but why are you logging airflow when the number is incorrect? 231 g/s is only 830 Kg/H. I would assume you would be well above 1500 Kg/H.
  5. What's your gun setup? Do you use a dryer?
  6. You should install a oil temp sensor to see how much of a difference the RS oil cooler makes. I'd be interested to see the difference.
  7. Jesus, it was 3 months ago that I was looking for fuel hoses, and since then I posted how I figured it all out. A little late to bat there, man...
  8. They could be going bad I guess. I have never heard any detonation out of the 150+ pulls I've done so far. How did you confirm that they were bad?
  9. After some tuning this is what I've got at the base wastegate pressure, about 17psi. The ECU is pulling a bit of timing, so I'm trying to figure that out before I start upping the boost. http://youtu.be/r-Kzu_eS9tE
  10. Bougicord wires are in the mail. Just for shits n giggles I put in plugs that are one step colder and gapped to .022. I also flashed the most conservative stock timing map I could find (from a 97 glt). The problem got a lot better, but is still definitely there. If the wires don't fix it I'll be getting an OEM coil. It seems weird that it hiccups at around 4K but goes away quickly and doesn't come back. http://youtu.be/N5ao4c_qK98
  11. Think I will go with the Kingsbourne, they come in blue!
  12. The Blaster SS is $45 compared to $110 for the Bosch. Is the Bosch really worth the price jump? Also, can anyone recommend good spark plug wires?
  13. I closed the spark gap to .025" and the it helped the problem quite a bit. I'm going to get new wires, and a new coil perhaps. I'm thinking about getting the blaster SS. Should I grab a 6AL too?
  14. Just bought a DW200 fuel pump and 4 bar regulator, figured I needed them even if they weren't the problem. Ive heard detonation on a whiteblock before, this isn't it. Im fairly confident it is related to the spark plugs. Im going to gap to .25 tomorrow and see where that gets me.
  15. I'll re-check the plugs, I'm going to rent a fuel pressure gauge tonight too. Wouldn't I get a CEL for a misfire? I tried another video using a suction cup mount for the camera, unfortunately the sound is super hard to make out.
  16. No, it is fairly lean, 13.5, but it is getting richer as the RPM rise and this is only at 3500 RPM. I adjusted the WOT fueling and will getting another video in just a little bit.
  17. I have the same problem on 3 tunes. What factors would make it sound like that and have the boost oscillate madly? OEM, gapped to .29.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxFViIjgJwE&feature=youtu.be The camera doesn't pick the sound up well, but you can hear it just before I let off. Probably never took it above 3400RPM. Looking at the video it seems I could be running richer.
  19. I stated earlier that I had a the 180LPH walboro pump, not great, but better the the stock pump. 460cc's wont get me to my ultimate goals, but should suffice at wastgate pressure for now. I will grab a buddy that can film as soon as I can.
  20. So, thought I'd get this thread rolling again. I got my car tuned on M4.4 running greens (did it myself for free!) and took her out for a test run. Basically I haven't gone WOT since I re-did my intake which was a few days after the swap. I had a major kink in my intake that limited my boost to ~11psi. When I eliminated the kink I could make full boost which got me above 15psi. I took a few WOT runs after straightening out the intake, but got a terrible sound that I assumed was detonation, or at least related to running too small of injectors. With the green injectors I was hoping the problem would be gone. However, when I get to 15psi my boost starts fluttering violently and it sounds as if I'm driving on a gravel road, or a harsh static. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I am scratching my head as to what it could be. AFR's are well in check, IAT are super cold (it is 10F outside) and timing is conservative.
  21. Here's a sample datalog from MotronicSuite: The time scale is pretty slow at 1.2-1.3s, but the only reason I want the data is to see timing pull. I just have to put this together with AFR, EGT and MAP and I'll be all set! @JOE No I have not tested the RPM with a light yet. I've been really lazy lately...
  22. The SSQV has no pressure set to vent at, the more boost the harder the BOV clamps shut. I don't doubt that the injectors are near, or at, their limit. AFRs are at a solid 11.5psi at about 13PSI, but I let off the throttle past that point quickly. Fuel pump is a Walbro unit, but not the 255LPH. I believe it is the 210LPH pump. As soon as funds allow I hope to have a map scaled for greens at 4 bar. As for the RPM pickup, what are the wires going to the injectors? I assumed one was ground and the other was a square wave with a variable duty cycle.
