  1. Parts started arriving I'll be making a 3" intake using a jaguar XJ filter canister. I'm also planning on making a material filled catch can and running vent to atmosphere. I'm just waiting on a box from FCP and I'll be doing the swap the weekend after next!
  2. Slowly making progress. Made a cam holder out of angle iron and got the VVT issue straightened out. Got a 14point7 wideband today. I need to figure out how to power it... 5A for the lambda heater and 500mA for the unit itself. Any ideas where I could tap the power line? And a 3" V-band adapter for the turbo. Only $40 for the adapter, V-band flange, shitty V-band clamp and metal gasket! The manifold is currently at the machinist and will be back tomorrow. I got all the turbo plumbing ready, I'll get some pictures of it all on the engine tomorrow.
  3. Yep.. Exducer: 2.175 Inducer: 2.560 http://vfaq.com/mods...bo-compare.html Looking at the wheels, I didn't realize that the TD06 was that much bigger. Is that a TD05H or just a TD05?
  4. In response to you summarized version of the bill I would vote yes. My grandfather was once a rocket scientist, one of the lead engineers on the first probe to Venus, and ended the last 15 years of his life in state of complete physical debilitation which, in the last 5 led to mental illness. An extremely intelligent man had to live 15 years of a life trapped in his own body. That is no way I'd like to end my life. With that said, I don't think all people should be in control of when they want to die. I don't have any direct experience with it, but temporary mental illness can cause some unsettling thoughts into suicide. Not to mention, some people diagnosed with a 'terminal' illness end up making a full recovery. It would be hard to define the sanctions that defined someone in the correct state who could make the decision to end their own life. Somebody who could later lead a fulfilling life might end up pulling their own plug prematurely, although it already happens all time.
  5. Awesome info! Hopefully, I don't run into streetability issues, but with the size turbos some of you are running I think I'll be fine!
  6. Haha, over 6600rpm, I don't think my redline will even be that. This turbo will tide me over for now I'm sure, we'll see what I think after its in and tuned. Thanks for the second opinion though! I've also been doing some reading over on NASOIC and lots of guys are running the TD06 8cm on their 2.5 STIs without much of a problem.
  7. Sorry, I'm not sure I really understand what you're saying. The turbo I have is the one mentioned on that page, which, as they seem to describe, flows better than their 'super' 20g. The TD06 turbine wheel apparently makes more of a difference then the loss in cross sectional area of the exhaust housing. I'm going to stick with this turbo. Maybe it won't flow as well as super 20g at redline (which would be contradictory to what I said above), but it is significantly larger than my stock turbo, which keeps me happy.
  8. Measured the turbine. TD06 wheel, 8cm^2 housing i.e. .57 A/R. I should have been more diligent in my research . Seems like the only way I could salvage this is by selling it on a DSM forum and buying the TD06H 10cm^2 Hahn. Just for comparison sake, what's the A/R of the stock 15G? EDIT: http://www.turbosystem.com/hahn/parts/s20gh.htm According to that the TD06 8cm^2 housing actually develops boost later than the 'normal' 20g. Turns out it may not have been a mistake B)
  9. Damn, looks like you may be right. Cast in the exhaust outlet is a '8', I'm assuming that means 8cm. I was under the impression that Hahn only produced a 10cm^2 ehxuast housing for their 20g's
  10. It looks like the exhaust is the same size as yours... The casting numbers are: 6 1L DUCM 79-1 100 As for choking at higher RPMs, my car feels fast now; with how much bigger this turbo is I think I'll be plenty satisfied.
  11. Geessshhh.... Here they are: The turbine wheel looks completely unused! The PO was nice enough to weld on a boss for the wastegate just where I needed it It came with a adjustable wastegate with 15 psi spring. I just bought a 7.34 psi (.5 bar) spring from kinugawa turbo; I'm hoping it'll work.
  12. Just took my manifold to get milled and tapped for M10x1.5 studs. $110!! I feel like thats really high, but there's literally no other machinist in town. Is the dipstick the same for the RN as it is for the P80? They have different part numbers so I'm not quite sure.
  13. I can't seem to find ErikF, did he change his profile name?
  14. Thanks, but I don't think it'll be necessary, I just need to know the size of the line and I can just use some AN fittings and make my own line.
  15. Word, that does sound like an easy solution. Unfortunately, I don't think there are any hydraulic shops in my small town, at least there aren't any listed.
  16. Anyone know the thread pitch of the fuel lines, return and feed? I want to make my own braided lines so I can maintain the VVT in case I ever try to control them...
  17. I'm going to start tuning on my current engine and in all honesty probably find that I can't do a very effective job and just buy a tune from Lucky. I'm not trying to blow my brand new engine... 2005 Damn, I guess I could up the fuel pressure, but I'd feel better if I just got the right sized injectors. Yeah, figured that noise was no good; I'll probably just try and borrow a cam locking tool from someone. I'll keep that in mind, but I doubt they are since the car was running when the engine was removed less than 2 weeks ago.
  18. I'll get some pics of the turbo tomorrow. I'm going with greens for now, we'll see how they handle 18 psi and then probably go with a set of five-o's when they're maxed out.
  19. Yeah, that would kinda interfere with my whole under $2000 plan. I realized when I started that I didn't want to do the whole thing with the attention to detail it would need. I marked each port with the outline from the RN gasket, hopefully that will be enough to keep port sizes the same.
  20. Thought I'd get some pictures up of my 'build' I got a B5254T2 (2.5L LPT) from a S80 with 92,000 miles for $800 shipped. My goal for this whole project is to stay under $2000. Power goals are a modest 350WHP, maybe I'll go higher once I get a feel for the power (and more money). I'm going to install a EGT and wideband on the car in the next week and try my hand at flashing/tuning M4.3 myself. This is just to tide me over until I can afford an ARD tune. The swap was prompted by the leaky valve seals, in the morning it is basically un-driveable until the huge amount of oil is burned off. I know it's easy enough to replace the seals, but I figured it was time for a change anyways. As the car sits now: As the engine sits now: I've got a black PC'd intake that I'm gasket matching, it's taking quite a while with my electric dremel and sanding wheels, but I'll get there eventually... I have a fully rebuilt Hahn 20G turbo with 0 miles since the rebuild, sorry no pictures right now... It came with a 15 psi wastegate, is this gonna be a problem for controlling boost effectively? Right now I'm working on my parts spreadsheet and will send out for everything in a week or two. I hope to have the whole thing buttoned up by mid December. I'll keep this thread updated with my progress as it comes along. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, but right now I'm debating if I need to bring the engine to my Volvo indie to reset the VVT. When I got the engine the cam timing was off by a few teeth and I couldn't rotate the engine without running into some resistance which I didn't go past. I believe it was the pistons hitting the valves. I put on a new timing belt with the correct valve timing, but now the solenoids are making a clicking noise. I posted a video of the noise on youtube: Should I worry about the noise?
  21. All this talk about piracy reminds me that I was going to download Rocketman (1997) today.
  22. Not going to a Boy Scouts meeting makes the president a joke? So much political BS is about PR. In the upcoming mid term elections what do you think is going to sway more votes, talking to a bunch of kids or trying to 'connect' with millions of women? I'm not saying going on the view was important, but neither is talking at a boy scouts meeting.
  23. has set their status.
