  1. Charles posted earlier about some of the Govt's financial obligations to Military Personel.
  2. I'm jealous of your relationship with your Pops. Really, thats excellent.
  3. Bad investing on your part, you should have diversified more, too many of the same profile. Of course your being facetious, but my point nulls that. I got no money so I win.
  4. Dave, you're messed up  Obviously Joe plays on a different economic field than most of us here. Keep investing Joe, your money keeps folks in jobs. Don't forget to spend some once in a while. :D
  5. I agree Mike. The problem is that dead weight has been piling up, no culling of the weak has been allowed periodically. So when a big event occurs the weak sisters all fall at the same time, avalanche style. Then bailout is inevitable to just hold the market itself up. Barney Frank, head of banking commitee, basically screamed social/economic discrimination because low income less qualified borrowers were being kept out of the American Dream.
  6. Your part owner now. $95 million loan (air quotes). $1 trillion in assets, thats a monster alright. I've said it once and I won't say it again, that fat broad in your avatar has some ass crack alright. Stock market is still there, no one jumped off the NYSE building. All your investments are ok, and if you did it right, you've got dollar averaging in your account. Maybe if ya'll are patient you can make some money off of this, and buy the trailer next to mine when you retire. The sky is falling.
  7. Thats a little over the top. And check your 401k's and other investments and tell me you don't hold, oil, mortgage, and other financial institution stocks. The system is too redundant for 1929, relax and buy some Lehman stock, it's a bargain.
  8. What happened to the Pelosi/ Reid congress that was going to clean up the corruption they had 2 years and did nothing? Bush had about as much to do with it as you did. See Chris Dodd and Charlie Rangel. Don't be blind and naive, what a knee jerk reaction that was, wow. My Soccer Team Sponsor
  9. Yeah I know, how idealistic and naive of me. But they should not bail them out, lets get the pain over with. It will just postpone the inevitable and pile on more crap. " The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools" Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher
  10. OMG, you must check this out!!! THIS is so cool!!
  11. No bailing of banks today. Good, I want the scum to fall and power to the strong and smart. Pigs get slaughtered. Lets see what the free market can do. Buy low, this is an opportunity to make some cash off of these pigs.
  12. Not flawed, you just need to get info on your own, read the papers, watch the news, Google. Then form your own opinions and defend them. Thats all this is, its all opinion and personal position. none of us are 100% correct about anything. :D
  13. Hey, at least you participate in the discussion, KHAX, and hopefully your learning stuff. I've got a 17yr old, and he gets also.
  14. I want one! Is it life sized? Does it have, ya know, "orifices"? If it comes with a moose gun I'm in!
  15. Obama and Dems seem distracted/worried about Palin. Weird. They are gonna get off message, could be terminal. Obama has also abandoned his change rhetoric and the politics of personal destruction has arisen again. It's the fallback position of folks with no argument. If thats the best they can do they are in trouble. He s looking less Presidential every day. Where are Biden and McCain?
  16. Any comments about the 9/11 compensation? Oklahoma Bombing victims are seeking more money also. I know we are forgetting about enlistment bonuses, educational bennies.
  17. It was an email i received, so no linky to an article. I'm sure it is on Limbaughs website. I realize the bennies are there, and I still think it's a disgusting differential, but the numbers I wanted you all to comment on were those for the POS congressmen and senators . The base salary is a big deal to me. Thes guys and gals must really love the country. Sorry for your losses, but I'm glad you can give first hand accounts, Charles and DD. It lends a great deal of gravitas to the post. I have massive respect for both of your families, career is a serious commitment. No life for a kid, but your experience shows in your personalties and your replies. I would be honored to meet both of you.
  18. Just read it. I CHECKED THIS OUT WITH SNOPES.COM AND IT'S TRUE. Love him or loathe him, he nailed this one right on the head.......... By Rush Limbaugh: "I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million. If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable. Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt. Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough. Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers. (Actually, soldiers are put in harms way by politicians and commanding officers.) We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well. You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low-rent housing. Make sense? However, our own US Congress voted themselves a raise. Many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed them in harm's way receives a pension of $15,000 per month. I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting." I'm sure this will prompt lefties to slam righties, but please concentrate on the issue. The Good Old Boys Club, and the get mine faction.
  19. Since many of you rely on internet reporting I provide you this link to get some facts about Palin straight. Believe it or Not
  20. I was buying Doritos by the case! He is a funny bastard, my goodness. Now, Bill Mahr you can take out and just shoot. Ok, I'll just hold him up as an example of a left wing limousine liberal elite. Keep your enemies closer... Oh yeah John Stewart, John Daily is my big fat cigarette smoking whiskey drinking professional golf hero!
  21. It's really difficult for us to correct others. It's expensive and some of the behaviors are hard to change. It can't hurt to think green as long as we don't put people out of work and disable our selves and our ability to compete in the international markets. This oil issue has already prompted folks to use less fuel, seek alternatives, and maybe walk more and burn off some fat ass's. If we are really lucky, the guys looking for a profit will spend the research money, save our bacon, if it needs saving, and make a ton of cash, creating new jobs and firing up the economy. Long live the free market. As long as I can put 93 octane in my turbo charged car! Honestly, have you ever had so much fun driving as when you roll that bitch up to 15 psi and push back into the drivers seat? Might not be able to do that with a hybrid.
  22. Oh I got kids alright. With all the crappy food they eat we should all be worried about excessive methane emissions (see cow problems in Australia). But did you see the carbon credits I could get with Global Warming? Just killing my lawn alone saves thousands of oil trees from an early demise! Listen, don't get all freaked out by this. I really am doing my part, all my appliances are new EnergyStar, my new heating system is 95% efficient propane burner, with 2-stage fans. That replaces something like 100 amps/ 10,000 watts of electric heat we used to have. All new replacement windows, fiberglass insulated doors, and new vinyl outside with 5/8 insulated backing board. My washing machine and dishwasher use 1/10th the water of my old ones, keeping my well pump from running excessively. I've done my part and my electric bill is a fraction of what it used to be. But it cost me $20,000. I might live long enough to get my money back in tax incentives and electricity savings. Then I fill my tank with premium and drive 80mph for 1000 miles a week! All I know is it has been extraordinarily cool here in CT this summer, water levels in lakes and streams are up, trout fishing was good all the way thru August, normally a real slow time for cold water fish species. And when I get 3 feet of snow the first storm of the year I'll make damn sure you here about it! I'm an avid outdoorsman, I care , really. But I can't see crippling an economy, when eastern Europe, and Asia are dumping garbage in the air and water like it was 1880 in the US ( beginning of the Industrial Revolution). In CT, there is more open space and wooded areas than before that time. Do you know why they call it the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee? The carbon released by all those oak trees creates a blue haze not unlike the smog in LA. Nature baby, nature. Throw in a bunch of forest fires because we can't clear forests of deadwood and clear out the garbage growth for fear of displacing the spotted tree rat. A little balance in policy would go along way. The debate rages.
  23. Dude you link me to a left wing web site that thinks John Daily and Colbert are serious newsmen, and question me on weather I'm a shill or not? WOW. I may be a right wing nut, but at least my politics are derived from the Constitution. The left must own more computers than the right.
  24. Tro in me Irish Mum, and da guilt is as tick as a point of the Black stoof.
