  1. My car was pre-wired for the switch but didn't have one when I bought it. It's on the drivers side switch bank, closest to the steering wheel.
  2. Yeah, STC can be disabled with the switch on the dash. If you don't have one, you can simply add it and full functionality is enabled once the switch is added. Nice, easy, plug n' play!
  3. Lock the trans in L and turn STC off, it'll make a huge difference when autocrossing. That being said, M66 is the real fix!
  4. Anthony, good to meet you this weekend! Like we talked about, if you're unable to source the correct Ohlins springs, here is the part number for those S70 AWD springs 9203935. Here is some further information on the rear strut/spring combos if you're interested: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/topic/160831-nivomat-equipped-4wd-wagon-suspension-refresh-option/?do=findComment&comment=2239166 http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/topic/151199-awd-nivomat-swap-using-regular-shocks-and-oem-springs/

  6. Instead of dicking around with warranty and shipping them out to an Ohlins service center, I'd just have a local hydraulic line shop replace that section of line. It'd be cheaper and quicker to deal with a local shop. I know Omni Services can typically turn that stuff around in a day or two - there's one not far from you in Buffalo at 3187 Eggert Road Tonawanda, NY

Why are you selling the VR? Such a nice wagon!
  8. That's awesome. I have a decent surplus of spray paint and some potholes right outside my apartment
  9. Lookin good man, you gonna be at Carlisle again?
  10. Inspired by the discussion in the R-Forum:
  11. What are you looking for out of the suspension? Racecar, comfy, etc?
  12. +1 Mike Even when I was a kid (90s-00s) kids weren't such lazy fatasses like they are now. George Carlin's bit about playing with a stick is more and more right as time moves on and our society becomes lazier and lazier.
  13. Thanks for the kind words guys! Towing was fine, I pulled it ~3 hours home on a combo of backroads and highways with plenty of hills for good measure. On that trip, my wagon was loaded up with 3 passengers, a couple hundred pounds of tools/spares, and towing a car. I got 18 MPG (calculated by mileage driven/fuel consumed) and I was pretty happy with that, given I'm AWD, and have sticky 235s adding to the rolling resistance. The biggest concern I had going into the trip was stopping power. My wagon had 302s with fairly well worn and unknown pads at the time, and while stopping took some effort and definitely a good ways more than normal, I never felt any fade or was in danger of brake failure. I gave myself tons of space to stop, and kept the trans locked in the lowest gear possible to take advantage of any engine braking I could. The trans was fine, no issues whatsoever.
  14. Both those guys are on air. That makes it a lot easier to DD.
  15. Woah so I guess I'm a little overdue for an update here. Lets see what I've missed in the last year or so Winter of 2013/14 I plasti-dipped my wheels black, and did my best to stuff them full of snow while drifting any chance I got. Blew up an axle doing donuts This allowed me to drive around in RWD for a couple weeks. That was fun, over-steer everywhere! Fixed that, got back to autocrossing in the spring of 2014 (That's me, pretending to be The Stig) Went to my first Carlisle, had a blast and can't wait for this year's show! Got a Tomcat lip, love the way it looks Added some Rally Armor mudflaps, they do a great job in keeping the sides of the car clean Bought and sold a 98 AWD. Spent some time fixing it up, and now my friend owns it, and I still see it on a near-weekly basis. Back to my wagon. Rolled the fenders, no more rubbing Got a hitch installed, and picked up a 99 NA for parts Hate 'em if you want, but Nivo's do work well. This picture is taken while towing the NA with 3 people in the car and tools in the back. Apparently I have a thing for silver V70s....! (R is in the foreground, 98 AWD is in front of it, NA parts car on the side) Spent a couple weeks chasing my tail on a no-start condition which eventually left me stranded on the side of the highway at night. Long story short, the wiring inside the factory fuel pump connector had a short in it, causing the fuel pump to only turn on sometimes. However, I didn't discover this until after I'd dropped the entire rear end, replaced the fuel pump and level sender. New OEM level sender on the drivers side DeatschWerks DW300 (top) installed in place of the OEM pump (bottom). That should provide more than enough fuel flow for my current and future power levels. Fuel lines were a rusty disgrace, and leaking in a couple spots. So I removed all the fittings from the stock lines, and replaced the rusty stock crap with new 5/16" nylon lines. Toss all that in the trash OEM fittings going back into the new lines All that combined with new wiring is much better than how I found it. Winter mode 2014/15 - NA bumper/headlights, silver STi wheels, OEM ski box, and lots of opposite lock Finally made some progress on modifying this heap. Got 996TT calipers with custom brackets (thanks Timo!!!!) S60 R rotors, Porterfield R4S pads installed about a month ago. Here are the brackets I designed and Timo machined for me with a 3D printed prototype prior to install. They barely fit inside my wheels, but they do fit. Sorry for all the iPotato pictures. Once it's nicer out/stops snowing I'll get the wagon cleaned up and take a couple better pictures. That's about where it is today, but I've got a few major updates coming soon. Odo is currently at 180,xxx miles. In all, I've put 30,000 miles on it in the 3+ years I've owned it thus far. I have an M66 from an 06 S40 Semir and I parted out and am working on acquiring the rest of the needed parts for the swap. Hoping to have that done before Carlisle, but I'm not gonna make any promises due to my schedule. Also have some other goodies planned, but those will be kept closer to the vest until I get around to finishing them up. I guess now this can finally become a "build thread" instead of a "andy shares pictures of his wagon" thread
  16. +1'd for the "One Nut Racing" stickers
  17. Nice work so far man, can't wait to see it with the Ohlins installed!
  18. A bit more poke/stretch than I like, but an awesome photo anyways.
