  1. New wheels look very good! If I had to guess, the owner of that R at the shop is "ZekeUSMC" on Swedespeed. He used to have a widebody S60R (with hand controls) that he sold to Randy Pobst.
  2. Thanks man, I truly appreciate the kind words! The new project will be a pseudo-continuation of this one. Lots of parts will be exchanged between the 2 wagons and my plan will effectively continue but in a new chassis. Greg, Mike, thanks guys. I'm not going anywhere, just wanted to move onto a more unique color and cleaner chassis to start with. Thanks bro, I really appreciate the compliments. By the way, I'm dubbing this the "Lucas" mod - refers to when you replace your silver R with a 00 Venetian and then M66 swap it! See you Monday night brah! I'm very excited for the next few years. Friday evening I hopped a flight to Denver to visit with some friends and earlier this morning I bought a Venetian Red 2000 V70 R with the 2 tone interior and a bunch of cool options. My ultimate plan is to swap the engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, BBK, and misc. other mods from my 99 R into the 00 R. So in many ways my 99 R will live on in my new wagon. The road trip back to New York starts in the morning, so stay tuned!
  3. I got that error through facebook, but when I went directly to GoFundMe it worked fine. Just donated a few minutes ago
  4. Time for an update. A few weeks back I hit a jeep, and further messed up the front of my car: Threw a stock headlight and ABM turn signal on while I assessed my options for fixing the damage. Ultimately, it needs a new headlight, turn signal, radiator core support, hood, and passenger fender to get back to the condition it was in prior the accident. On top of that, it desperatly needs new front and rear bumpers, a rust spot on the tailgate fixed, and a bunch of paint work on the passenger side to fix where it had been poorly repainted in the past (prior to my ownership) to be in good enough cosmetic shape that I'd be happy with it. So, with my dissatisfaction with the cosmetic shape of the car ever increasing, I did some quick math and realized just how much money it would take to get this wagon to a cosmetic state where'd I'd be proud of it again. I'd been contemplating buying another wagon to modify and move parts over to for the last 6 months to a year, and ultimately, it will end up costing less money and give me the opportunity to start fresh and avoid some stupid mistakes I'd made in the process of building this car. So sadly, this decision marks "the end" of this project. Odometer photo is from earlier this week: Here's a photo from the first night I brought it home (December 23, 2011) And from last weekend (May 7, 2017): So after five and a half years and over 70,000 miles, there have been plenty of ups and downs, and everything in between, but in the end, it's been a great car that is responsible for nearly everything I know about cars today. I'll miss it but I'm very excited for the future.
  5. Buy BC DR (digressively valved) instead of D2s. They're better quality, can be customized and they're actually based in the US if you need replacement parts or need to contact people.
  6. What's the white car in the second photo? Oh, and share more pictures of the 911 please!
  7. Thanks for the explanation. Hopefully Matt will chime in here but last we discussed it he was contemplating buying a new IC/TB setup from Sico Developments in the UK https://www.sico-developments.co.uk/collections/2009-2011-mk2-focus-rs/products/focus-rs-mk2-70mm-cold-side-boost-pipe?variant=27924274833. It appears to be very similar to the piece you made. The do88 hose is one piece of silicone from IC to TB, so it is kind of difficult to install. However, the all silicone construction makes it easier to flex around things. The multi-piece setup from Sico looks like it has a kink in the aluminum pipe that should clear the AC hose, and comes with a larger elbow for the bigger TB inlet.
  8. Nice work (as always) Hussein! You made short work of the K16/SMF swap. Can you explain more about what you ended up doing for the IC/TB hose? Matt put the Porsche 70mm TB on his car and the do88 IC/TB hose hits the AC switch. It's a 1 piece silicone hose. He spent a long time fighting with that hose to get it aligned and secured in place but due to the rubbing it's not a permanent solution.
  9. A regular alignment won't need to take your wheels off. If they do, run far and fast. Oh, and they make special sockets that won't fuck up your wheels even if they make contact with the wheel. They're give or take $10 at AutoZone
  10. I'll make sure to bring a cooler!
  11. Pre registration closes on April 17th. You can typically buy passes at the gate but they're more expensive
  12. EDIT: Attempted to register, payment won't go through on their site Double edit: After multiple attempts, all of which returned an error message of one type or another, now my card has been charged 6 times and I don't have a confirmation email Triple edit: I think I'm registered? Who the fuck knows at this point...
  13. AWD helps for sure, but most of the credit is due to the General Altimax Arctics. I swear by these things, they grip like crazy. General should give me a commission with how many sets I've sold to friends/family. Thanks Timo! Hope you're doing well too bro. I'll have to keep an eye out for an Ocean Race XC70 for you, that'd be a super cool project.
  14. Have you driven around with the subs yet? If the Nivos don't adjust after 5-10 minutes of driving something is fubar'd. Yeah, QA1s & Kaplhenke spring perches are about the same price as Nivos, but you obviously give up the load leveling feature.
  15. They're Volvo cross rails - my parents bought the roof box and rails from the dealership after buying our 98 V70 NA new. I even have a tool to tighten them to spec that has Volvo stamped on it, I'll post a pic of that in a bit. Thanks. I was laughing my ass off when I saw the size of the snow pile I made. Put a badswede lift kit on that 07 XC and you'd have a perfect snow vehicle!
  16. So, yesterday's storm gave me the opportunity to finally find out how much snow it takes to get this car stuck: Made it about 100 yards down our unplowed alley with ~12" of snow. The snow got so deep it was over the hood about 15 yards into the alley. I was moving along just fine until I hit a pile where someone had shoveled out their car and dumped all the snow in the middle of the alley... I love this car. It made it 160 miles without a hiccup in the blizzard, including plowing my way out of the untouched parking lot at the ski area to applause from all the people nearby clearing their cars off. A newer RAV4 with AWD and snow tires parked in the space next to me got stuck after backing out of the spot and gave up until I cleared the way out.
  17. Good job Dougy!! Can't wait to see video once it's all tuned
  18. Get projects done for Carlisle Greg! I expect to see your wagon there and looking it's best.
  19. Customized the loading screen on my Pioneer headunit. Maybe kinda corny but I really like it
  20. Damn man you've had some shit luck with this car. Any idea what you hit to crack the pan like that? The subframe is lower than the pan so that usually protects it pretty well...
  21. Good that you're gonna take lots of pictures, they're always helpful in documenting all the work that goes into these projects. That being said, I think it'll be fairly simple once you get to look at everything. As far as I can see, except for some of the photos in Will's first post, all the pictures still work for me. That being said, I think the pictures on page 2 do a pretty good job of showing how everything comes together.
  22. Here's a good guide to upgrading/replacing the bushings in your rear subframe: http://v70r.com/forums/topic/37473-p80-awd-rear-suspension-bushings/
  23. I saw Ashely posted on the Volvos At Carlisle Facebook page that she was gonna start accepting donations soon
  24. Love seeing all the work you get done! The custom metal throttle cover is a cool touch, nice work Dougy.
