Someone has been in my CAMS? How does on visually determine an NA cam from a Turbo cam? No real part numbers on them. Here is the reason I ask. The cam gears have written on them (painted) AND inscribed with both "E" and "I" which tells me someone was doing something. Then I'm looking at the grind and it looks pretty aggressive and I have painted bands on the cams. Any ideas? Also - just for giggles, I slapped the S60R Ex. manifold on to see what is looks like. This is much b

Ok guys - you're keeping my honest. I said I'd do it... albiet I'm an hour late. But I scored some free 2nd row hockey tickets so my priority changed. I did get up the gumf to get in the garage at 11 pm after the hockey game and give this a whirl. So - GOOD NEWS!!! IT FITS!!! Tight, but no problemo! Here are some pics. I always thought the original color of my subframe was BLACK??? IN!!! Notice I have the front engine mount bolted up. Sorry - need more light in ther

OK - so today I got the engine block cleaned up a bit so I'm not spreading grease around the garage, etc. The wife is not really speaking to me lately... but that means I can spend more time in the garage - right? So - I got the M66 bolted up to the block today. IT FIT LIKE A GLOVE!!! Here are some pictures of it. Tonight I will try to clean up the engine bay a bit as I've not touched it since the engine came out. I still need to get a few things outta there. Tomorrow I will try to pre

I also traveled to Dallas earlier this year to take a look at an S60R (M66) that dyno'd 540 WHP and the trans was not the issue although he had a stage V clutch. He did put enough torque into the front wheels (was in FWD mode) that it tore the entire passenger side shock assembly out and the wheel proceeded to enter the fender and door area. So - his problem wasn't the trans! Yes - I even work on Christmas so here are some more pics! We've all lost a knuckle or two while working on our engin

Some of you may have heard this already but I just officially kicked off this project. To put the M66 six speed into a '97 850. Top that with an engine build up that will hopefully push past 500 HP. So - Started the engine pull this week and I got the auto tranny off. Here are some pics, hope we can make this a running thread. I'll accept pic requests if they are within reason. Almost there. Also made sure there was plenty of ice cold beer within reach for this project! OUT!!!! So

Lets see what has happened and what I have done thus far. I was rear ended in May of 2005 gpt a nice new bumper:D. Then a few days later, my own absent mindedness, I changed my oil and did not close my hood properly, guess what happe

Migration Soon

As of February Volvospeed will have been on the same server for three long years. In this time I have lived in three states and visited fourteen countries. In that time much has happened here. Some may remember in '04 when the server crashed and unfortunately I was in Africa. Thanks to the great people here things were addressed and moved on. Others of you will remember some of the classic topics, iguanas, Josh calling M3's rice, picture threads, failed national meets. To most though Volvo

Designed To Fail?

My 2002 V70 T5's warranty expired 9.5k miles ago. Since then, I've had to replace all of the ignition coils and the fuel pump- while on vaction. Does anyone know if Volvo designs their componenets to fail after reaching the 50k mile mark? I've heard nothing from Volvo. I'm beginning to think that the vehicle sitting in my garage is not a total P.O.S. that will only continue to give me problems. If anyone from Volvo is out there- please reassure me that my $40k+ vehicle will last- at lea

Help!

Am I crazy? I want to drive my '82 wagon for the rest of my life, but with 289 thousand miles Irene (my car) is a getting a little worn out! She still looks good though. I was thinking about swapping the enigne to a Mustang 289 or 302. Does anyone know of a conversion kit for something like that? You see, Xzibit hasn't called me back, so that just leaves me and my new mechanic to pimp ride. My ex-husband is a Volvo mechanic so Irene was, for most of her life, very well cared for. My ex thi

Anybody Done Their Own Clutch Replacement?

Hi guys, I'm a newbie and don't know how to post to the list so I thought I'd start my own blog. I'm looking for anyone who has first hand experience in replacing a clutch in an 850 or a V70. Does the engine and tranny both need to come out of can just the tranny be pulled? Thanks James

The Question

Hey Everyone. I Have A Few Questions. First Off, I Have A 2002 Green Volvo S40. I Want To Get The Windows Tinted. The Legal Limit Is 35/35 In Connecticut, Which Doesn't Seem Like Much. I Don't Know What Kind Of Warranties They Offer Or What The Average Price Is And What Kind Of Tint I Should Get. Some Input Would Be Greatly Appreciated Thanks

Subbox And Testing New Blog Software

Well I finishd all the Volvo stereo stuff I can do at this time so I decided to do a write up on fiberglass boxes. I will work on it and have it posted in a week or two. This box fits in the goofy side panel of an Explorer. I thought I could finish it in one day but I guessed wrong. So the rest of the pics will be up tomorrow.

Catalytic Converter

I just bought a 98 XC70 Turbo and was wondering about an aftermarket Catalytic Converter. Can this be done without the Check engine light tripping? I did a little research and found that a Magnaflow would work, but don't know what model or size. Can someone help? The $405 for a direct fit is just a little steep, but I will pay it if that is the ONLY way to go. Thanks!
