I'm new to this site and I got my first Volvo yesterday. Actually, it is a hand-me down since my parents upgraded to a new Volvo - AWD S60 Turbo. I got the 1995 850 SE. Drove it up from Sydney to the Gold Coast (Australia). Over a 624km segment of the journey, I got 12.6km/Litre (country roads and highway). It has 344 thousand KM on the clock. I think the handling is amazing for what are essentially stock tyres. It's a very impressive car when you learn how to drive it how it wants to be driven. I'm not used to such a high revving engine. I am used to a 4.2L motor. It has a few glitches which show it's age, but it is a very nice car. I love the interior design and I think the car just looks great even though it has hail damage. I need to spend some money on it since it is overdue for a new timing belt and will need a new clutch soon, however for zero dollar up front, I am totally wrapped. I will probably need to frequent these forums a lot in order to get help with maintenance. I think the car is amazing for it's age.

Both mum and dad reckons the 850 drives better than the S60 Turbo as far as handling is concerned. The 850 is also manual where the S60 they got is auto.
