  1. "We are not giving up the title feature in our products," Arp said in an interview here. "We are working on the next phase, but it will not be immediate."

Well, lets hope the next series is a lot more impressive :)

    That way, they can:

"The goal: Dethrone the BMW M3."

  2. I'm on fiber. But I also have 50k people on the site a day. How many use your computer?

sig is now 30kb.. whats the gallery upload size limit?

EDIT: Photodump seems to up it back up to 41k <_<

EDIT2: I was ablt to put 145kb image ok :) but then the gallery showed it as only 30 some kb... hrmm

EDIT3: Nevermind.. i dont know what happened... and it seems to be working fine for me as long as they are under 150kb

  3. No, and after speaking with the distributor more, I have discovered that they charge $10 to "drop ship" each of these items directly to the final buyer from their warehouses. That $10 is just about all the profit margin I have built into each set of spacers, so this group buy might not even go through after all. I'm still talking to them about it to see if an agreement can be met, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hrmmm... well, keep us posted. I'll save my money for whenever....

  4. Hey, just to let everyone know, I am going to look into getting my bolts stripped and nickel or chrome plated. If anyone else would be interested you could have Joseph ship your bolts to me and you pay me for the plating + shipping back to you.

I have no clue what it could cost, but it would be relatively cheap and to do 200 pieces would only benefit everyone vs me doing my 20. I will charge you whatever it costs me. Will probably be in the neighborhood of $0.40-$0.75 each. Please do NOT post or PM me and ask what it would cost. I have no clue at this point and if you ask I will just cut and paste this paragraph.

Keep in mind that plating is only as good as the metal's finish itself. So if you want mirror finish polished triple chrome bling look, and the bolts end up coming from H&R with a standard ugly jerk rough industrial finish, the plating will just be a shiny standard ugly jerk rough industrial finish. The only way around that is to sand and mirror polish each bolt head face before being plated. That is no problem, but it will be extra time and $ for the labor.

Nickel plated will have the most corrosion resistance. I can also do black hard chrome though, which is sweet. It's NOT the "black chrome" like you see on some optional badges on cars or cabinet hardware. That is decorative only and is not really chrome. It's zinc plating with black dye in it and is plated on a polished part to give it a smoke mirror chrome plated look. It provides no corrosion protection at all. Black hard chrome is NOT that. Black hard chrome is designed as a corrosion plating and looks like semi gloss black paint and is hard as a rock - you will not see any shiny metal underneath. It is NOT cheapass black oxide either. If you want a stealth look, black chrome is killer.

Also, there is a $100 minimum with my plater, so if 4 people want nickel and 1 person wants black hard chrome , the person that wants black hard chrome is SOL unless he either wants to foot the $100 minimum or settle for nickel like everyone else.

    my vote.. BLACK CHROME :)

  5. Joe,

I am interested in 10 extended bolts for my 15mm spacers which I already have. How long are we looking at to ship these to my door?

but do you want SLATER to beautify those bolts? :)

(How many people are interested anyhow? I;d like to see how many are there, if there is enough interest, otherwise the if there isnt any, then i'll have the ugly bolts shipped to me...

  6. Tom the 20mm in the front made it look like it should(although it felt like the turing radius was affected slightly), brought the wheels more flush with the side of the car and rubbing was NEVER an issue (lowering springs and konis)

if i were to do it over again i think i would do 15mm up front and the much needed 25mm in the back. I think that would be just right, b/c the rears with 20mm look like they could use more as there is still room to fit with the way the body curves and bulges in the back

So what do you have now? And did you notice any handling positives or negetives?

    Im debating...

Cosmetically, 15 Front, 25 Rear (however, induce MORE understeer)

Performance, 15 Front, 5 Rear (to help neutralize my IPD sways understeer)

and maybe just sticking with my setup, but widening the track

    15 front and 15 rear

    ARGHHH.....

  7. good job....so, did you find out if the springs were actually matched to the sachs?

I doubt it since they just said they manufacture very little for the volvo, so they probably just put the springs on stock, and they claim that it's matched to perfection.

basically, is it true, then, that you can just buy the stock struts/shocks, and throw on a good spring (any lowering spring), and expect the same thing as a "weitech" setup?

All this praise of Weitech was all psychological?

    The springs are good :)

The extra comfort i have must be the change from the C70 struts (which were a terrible mix of sport & comfort) to the softer struts

Greg, thanks for your work in geting us this product. While this is displeasing.. the springs are still a good thing for these cars. Lucky for me, my struts needed changing, and i wanted to lower my car. Now, for those still interested, if you can pair the springs with a good shock/strut, you'll be set.

If there is any recourse please let us know. I wouldnt mind paying a little more to support a forum member's efforts, but the extra cash we paid went to KW/Weitec... :(

  8. Ok I have had both an email and a phonecall from KW. When I get back from work I will post the relevant parts of the email that confirm the following:

    1) To keep production costs down on Volvo orders (as they are very infrequent 2-3%) they bundle Sachs shocks into the Kits.

    2) These are completely OEM standard, not revalved, not re-engineered. 100% Stock. Like your regular 850 tdi, glt.

    3) They will change their website's description which is misleading.

So this "naive cross-ponder" will take his "cynicism" and get some Konis and his money back. :D

If you think this is OK - cool. I'd be pissed for that dollar.

    In summary:

Weitec = Stock shocks + lowering springs. Improve your handling for much less dollar at your OEM parts store. ;)

Good Research. While I am a little displeased that i paid about +/-$100 more for the OEM shocks + weitec Springs...not much to do now. The kit has been on my car for a while, and when they eventually go bad, I'll replace them with Konis or some other shock. Since the FSD's will work with eibach, im sure they'll be just as good with weitec springs
