Umm, we will need posts sir, or better yet, a build thread..

I already have one for the 7064 somewhere here under showroom.

I can make a new one once I start on the 7670. Right now, the car is waiting for the body shop slot in January. Needs some rust removal and conservation. And engine bay paint ;)

We also went for a ride in Steve’s S70 T5M. It’s RN-swapped with an EFR 7064 and holy stuff, fast doesn’t cover it....his car is a monster!

One of the best turbos for this application. Love mine, but am upgrading to EFR 7670 and a custom spaghettifold.

This is awesome. Add me to the list as well please.

Is this plug and play? I see the finished product uses Bosch connecters. Where do they go?

They go to the TPS and idle control valve. Installation is plug and play. All you need to find is a 12V source, so ignition coil or so. There is some adjustments you need to do at the device but Maarten includes a good manual with it.

  4. Maybe related to this.

I also happen to own a Saab 9-5 Aero as a DD and the PO installed a Bosch aftermarket rain sensor relais. It comes with a rain sensor which you put somewhere in the area of your inside rear view mirror and the relais plugs into the stock relais socket. It works great actually. So I might be doing this to my Volvo 850 as well, tbh.

Love that track.  Have raced it many times on Real Racing 3 and after Eau Rouge, the back half of the track (Les Combes, Bruxelles, Pouhon, Campus where the elevation drops quickly) seems like a fairly tricky portion as well. As you say, what goes up must come down.

Better race it in a real simulation like Iracing or Assetto Corsa then ;).

I live only 2h from Spa but have never been unfortunately. Maybe because it always rains there :D

  6. I agree.  If it were residual damage resultant from detonation in the process of tuning or something, that would be more understandable.  But if in fact the break is due to cylinder liner wear, I don't know that the wear would be that accelerated with say an average of double the stock output.

I also put 40k on a car in a year sometimes, so for me it's hard to imagine a properly conceived and clearanced setup like that to just reach end of life at that type of mileage.

Maybe I have a German view on it. Our cars see a significantly higher load collective due to our (few remaining) limit-free motorways. So, for us a car with twice the original power output reaching more than say 50000km with a certain setup is quite uncommon. Of course, there are cars which last longer than that, but that would be the exception.

  7. Congratulations on the car!

As for the powertrain, I drove a number of vehicles with VEA engines, diesel and petrol and I second your statement about their efficiency. Especially nice with the new 8 speed auto.

My favourite package was the V40 D4 automatic which pulls very nicely from 1200 rpm to 4500 rpm. Really nice overall package if you are looking for a comfortable daily driver.

My "dynamic" choice would be the T5 with polestar and 8 speed, though ;).

  8. The V40 is pretty much identical to the outgoing C30/S40/V50 from a suspension layout point of view. I always had great fun with my former C30T5 and hope the V40 will behave equally.

I personally like the V40 better but the "sportiest" P1x which I drove was a C30 D5 with Volvo lowering springs.

Your car will have the steering gear with 75mm rack travel which means the turning radius will be quite big. There is something you can do about it though with different travel limiters and software change if you don't mind a little rubbing.

  9. How close to the firewall does your compressor housing sit? With this version of the header, it's put mine closer than it was

    0713C5E7-571D-4D4E-A649-2BCEF9A91F27_zps

modding the heater elbows was necessary, even if I had left the 3.5" lower section, the lines were getting hammered under acceleration.

Thanks for the documentation about your heater elbow modifications. I have to do the same as my EFR 7064 compressor housing is also very close to the elbows and the lower one doesn't fit anymore in stock shape.

  10. sorry to hear Emiel...all i kept thinking about when i was driving the race rental was the 8k EURO insurance deposit :o

Which kind of defeats the purpose of a "race" rental, doesn't it? But unfortunately there are reasons for the high deposits given the large amount of idiotic and avoidable accidents sometimes.

    Sorry for Emiel.

  11. Good, lol. I need to update this thread, haha.

I'm only at 300 miles, so I have another 200 miles until the clutch is broken in and I can turn up the boost.

For the time being, I'm on wastegate boost at ~13psi, at which I'm pulling 1150kg/hr (typical maximum airflow seen from a 19t). I've been running about 22º of timing at this boost level. Usually I can only run 7.5-8º of timing at a similar RPM and airflow on a 19t. B)

Boost onset RPM is very slow right now, despite the adequate amount of pre-load. I'll be investigating this today.

    Good to read!

I see at least 2 areas where this can go wrong:

    1) What is the bypass valve connected to? Intake manifold vacuum?

    2) the built-in TCV. Maybe worth trying a regular one. Maybe the frequency the M4.4 sends is too high or low.

    Just guessing, though ;)
