  1. I haven't been a posting whore like the old days, but probably because the forum isn't as active as it used to be.

  5. Maybe Iron Monkey will appear and insult us all. Top 15%, meaning there are more people posting than I think.

  6. It might increase traffic a bit. I know I am posting a bit more because of it.

  8. It doesn't, because I got the prolific poster badge, which is 500 posts. My first badges are from Saturday, so it at least started then, but I didn't post much last week.

  12. I'm sure once all of us get them installed and start praising them, a lot more people will be on board.

  13. You did, it was about the payment up front. Probably a good idea to mention that in my post :P @ wesdunn: Well that's a good question. This thing just sort of grew out of my post in this thread, so I never considered putting something there. Maybe if this all goes according to plan I will do that if that is permitted by the forum rules. For now, this is already a lot of building for me to do though, so I think I have to wait until I finish these first. Also Bob82pigdog has volunteered to act as the distribution point in the US. I'm already in the process of constructing a defloater for him atm, so I merged him into the groupbuy as well.

  14. I've got a somewhat irrelevant question, but why haven't you made a post about these in the for sale section? My guess is there's a chance everyone would want one, and well, you're just one guy

  15. Alright, so a lot of the people on the list have followed through which is great! Not everybody has responded to my last PM (about the payment up front / confirmation) yet, so I decided to start ordering parts tomorrow morning (in about 9 hours from now). Just to give everybody a chance to respond. I will keep this thread updated with the build progress once the parts arrive. Also just to be sure that everyone knows: The RPM defloater only works on m43 and m44 equipped cars. It's not compatible with cars using a ME7 ECU. The N/A models with siemens phoenix systems are untested.

  16. Ive been using one of these log boxes for some time now, plugged it in a forgot about, There must be over 100 logs on the card now. Ive had no reason to check the logs as the car has been running sweet, its there just in case of any issues though, saves messing with the laptop every time you want to log. Brilliant thing to have, HIGHLY recommend buying one

  17. If everyone on the list follows through it's going to be 8 units to the US in total if I'm not mistaken.

  18. Money sent. I know I'll mess it up somehow so I won't subject you guys to that

  19. I have sent everybody a PM about the payment up front. I'll be ordering parts coming friday, and I will start building when they get in. The aim is to finish building them at the end of the week, and having them shipped out the week after. I still need someone to volunteer distributing them in the US so I can send them all in one package. Anybody up for that?

  20. It could trigger a beep on KRCOUNT, but it would essentially do the same thing I think. The variable pitch based on KRCOUNT idea is interesting though, I could test that out. I guess the big issue would be that these events happen very quickly, and different instances of these events may happen within a very short timeframe. All these different beeps may be quite erratic, and hard to discern, if at all audible. Ultimately I want to try to keep it simple, and easy to interpret. One can always configure one of the alarms to trigger when krcount reaches a certain number. Maybe knowing that you have a certain amount of knock, or even sum of retard values, is enough info while behind the wheel. Then it's just a matter of pulling the log off the sd-card to analyse what happened.

  21. With the amount of defloaters I have to produce soon I'm a little hestitant to post this already, but I can't help it :) The first 'production' model of the sd-card logger is nearly finished: I think it's adorable. A lot of its functions are configurable via usb: -Startup tune on/off -Bits alarm (short beep on bits peak) -up to 6 alarms for different values of your choosing -sync the clock (it has an internal timekeeping device with a battery) I'm also installing a button which can be used to mark certain events in the logging. It still needs some testing, and some rough edge cleanup, but it's doing fine on the bench as it is. It will take some time before they will become available (need to build a pile of defloaters :P), but I'll post something when that happens.

  23. More controlled engine response + engine braking, Put me on the list (for the RPM De~floater) Pm'd

  24. Wow, great to see this much interest. In order to produce these things in a reasonable timeframe, I think it would be best if I could start building in the first week of februari. I have a week vacation then, so I should be able to build a good chunk of them. edit: it does not need a 12v feed, but it does need to be connected to the ecu side of the ign coil. In case of COP the same applies, it needs a connection to one of the coils.

  25. They go to the TPS and idle control valve. Installation is plug and play. All you need to find is a 12V source, so ignition coil or so. There is some adjustments you need to do at the device but Maarten includes a good manual with it.

  26. There has been a lapse in defloater production due to time constraints, but I'm back at it now. The defloater list ended, as there wasn't too much interest in the end. I can reopen it of course. DScottM hasn't responded to my last pm, so I figure he is out, but maybe someone else would be able to act as a redistributing point. So people interested in the US atm would be: -DutchCanadian -boxpin -oreo931 -mojojo -gmsgltr -B850 -Wesdunns70t5m -OneWithBrick and oblark in the uk then, If I forgot anyone, or if you want in, just post below. I'll cook up a group buy price, and I'll PM everyone involved once I do.

  34. That's a great mod to get rid of the biggest annoyance on these P80 cars with the old throttle body design. I guess I need one ;)

  35. I had the car running great and there were no vac or boost leaks I was aware of... I'm definitely interested and will send a pm. I really like the sound of this mod.

  36. Fixed your post - you replied inside my post, making it a quote from me...

  37. I think that kind of behaviour would definately be suppressed / eliminated. No vac leaks you're aware of? I know when shifting at 6k+ rpm with m43 it displays this behaviour aswell. It even rises in rpm sometimes when disengaging the clutch. This mod takes care of that.

  38. I've sold some of these in the Netherlands. I can make some more for ppl that are interested. It's m43, and m44 only though. No me7 (totally different throttle body setup), and I didn't look at the fenix ECU's yet.

  39. This is so cool! Are you planning to sell these? I always hated having no engine brake.

  40. Isn't this is what Nissan 370Z (InfinityG37) newer model called double clutching from factory. That's pretty awesome you able to come up with that.

  41. ^ Now that is frickkin' awesome!!!! What circuit does it interrupt?

  42. Something a little bit different for this post. I always thought the 'throttle hang' while shifting, and the inablilty to engine brake effectively was hugely annoying. I always had to either shift slowly to shift up smoothly, or let the clutch deal with the elevated RPM's and try to live with the clunkyness of the shifts. With the swap to m44 this got alot better, but still not nearly good enough for my tastes. Naturally I got fed up by this. I started working on a solution almost 1,5 yrs ago, and I've since perfected it. from this (first quick & dirty prototype with an arduino mounted on top of it): to this (latest version with nice bosch plugs): I call it the 'RPM defloater' Its settings allow me to precisely control the RPM dropoff speed on upshifts. I have it set in such a way that the revs are matched on my normal upshifts and the clutch pedal just seems to 'disappear into nothingness' when I let go of it. I just don't feel the clutch engage, because it doesn't have to synchronise the crank with the gearbox. No clunkyness, but smooth and fast upshifts. When I let go of the throttle, my car will instantly start engine braking. I wonder why Volvo ever implemented the RPM hang feature (supposedly to aid shifting, or to keep the turbo spooled), but I'm very happy with this little mod.

  43. Thanks The pins we used aren't populated in a stock MT car. (I believe some of them were AT related). We used some pins from an old ECU connector to populate them, and ran the usb cable connected to them through the firewall.

  44. Clean work! So, you use the stock wiring loom for USB connectivity?
