  1. It’s that time of year—time to get ready for Swedish Car Day! This will be the twelfth Swedish Car Day at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum. As always, there will be a raffle, an extra special give-way to every registered attendee, judging of displayed cars and guest speakers. This year, one of the featured speakers will be Don Thibault who will discuss his all-original 1968 Volvo 1800S. Our Saab speaker has not yet been confirmed but we will post this information, likely next week, at the SCD Facebook page. Plus, we will have some brand new enhancements never before seen at SCD, so this is an event not to be missed. Swedish Car Day will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 10 to 2. Lawn will open at 8am. Fee per displayed car is $20 and includes two admissions. Fee will be collected upon entry. As a preamble to Swedish Car Day XII, we will have a Swedish Car Day Scavenger Rally: Greater Boston Parks and Gardens. This will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 1:30 to 3:30. Participating cars must be Swedish, and there must be at least one co-driver , though you may bring as many hecklers as you have room for. After the rally, there will be a cookout at Charles River Saab where all Swedish Car Day participants (not limited to rally teams) can convene and catch up with one another. Again, keep an eye on Facebook for more details as the date approaches. To register for Swedish Car Day XII and/or the Rally, go to our Registration Page. 2. Swedish Car Day Moves to a New Season Join us for the 11th Annual Swedish Car Day in August! Boston, MA – Join us for the 11th annual Swedish Car Day, sponsored by by the Swedish members of Ray Ciccolo’s Village Automotive Group: Charles River Saab of Watertown, Volvo Village of Norwell, Boston Volvo Village of Brighton, and Saab of Norwood with generous support from Volvo Cars North America, Saab Cars of North America and numerous Saab and Volvo Clubs nationwide. For 11 years now, Swedish Car Day has been celebrating these wonderfully unique cars that have quite a devoted following in New England. With a compelling amalgam of safety, function, performance and good looks, and some elegant simplicity thrown in for good measure, Saabs and Volvos have graced our little corner of the country for half a century. We’re especially excited this year to announce that Swedish Car Day will take place in the warmth of a New England Summer! After 10 years of weather ups-and-downs (especially 2009’s rather cold Nor-easter), the event has been moved to Sunday, August 29, 2010. While we cannot predict the weather, at the very least it should be a much warmer day than we usually have experienced! At Swedish Car Day we host a beautiful array of Saabs and Volvos, some pristine, others in their un-restored splendor. Each individual car and its owner have a unique story to tell, from the lovingly restored Sonett, to the P1800 with 2 million miles on its odometer, to the seemingly innocent models with V-8’s growling under the hood, to the brand new models that show the future promise of Swedish motoring. So come on by and take in some automobile history with a great many Swedish car enthusiasts as your guides, while at the same time enjoying the picturesque Larz Anderson Park as a backdrop. We hope to see you there! If you are planning to display your car, please RSVP on the Events tab on our Facebook page. And please become a Fan so you can receive the latest news and info as it is posted. If you have any questions, send an e-mail to pierre@crsaab.com. Admission is $20 for each vehicle displayed on the lawn, which includes two adult admissions. We park cars on the Lawn from 8am-10am. The Larz Anderson Auto Museum is located at 15 Newton Street in Brookline, MA. It houses the oldest automobile collection in the nation in the historic Carriage House at Larz Anderson Park. http://www.larzanderson.org/To...25961 More info at the official Swedish Car Day Website: http://www.swedishcarday.com/ Posted by John Sharisky, Boston Volvo Village
