    Come on Mike. Think about that. So by this logic, what should we do once they come here? Not fight them because they might hurt innocent people? Let them take over? Not me!

    The point is that the Mission isn't accomplished and will never be. If you think that we will kill all of the terrorists, you are sadly mistaken. One dies, and two angry islamic extremist takes his place, it is a battle that we cannot win. Saddam was bad, Democrats, unfortunately, only have a few people who take a stand, and for that, I am dissapointed. I think I will chill out on the insults, but everyone has to agree that this has been a disappointment, and we need to pull it together, whether it be with a Rep. president or democratic president. I learned some stuff from gdogg and others, nice discussion. :):tup:

    Iraq is a mess. I think we all agree that not changing what we are doing is THE worst thing. Some think we should abandon ship, other think we need to start fighting this as it should be fought.

    To all.

    The news on Foley was finally reported by ABC at the beginning of October I believe. This is known as an "October Surprise"- a common election tactic.

    The point is the news media and the Dems had known about this since April and allowed the boys to be endangered in the meanwhile to hatch this AS an October surprise.

    If the Republicans knew, they are equally culpable.

    No one is sure who knew what and when as far as the Congress. Obviously the news media knew about it.

    My guess is that rumors are part of life on capitol hill, most are unfounded and most rumors don't get attention since most of these guys are just too busy to become detectives.

    The most important point is that during a war such as this, the Democrats scheme and execute and in the process, this countries interests be damned.

    And Evolve, name one Republican exposing a Democrat situation. And we did a fine job getting rid of Saddam, we are just having a hell of time leaving the country in any kind of true order with the way we are doing it now.

    And the Bosnians didn't kill a single American, Al Qaeda killed nearly 3,000 civilians in New York. Saddam killed 300,000 Kurds and over 1,000,000 (million) Iranians with WMDs. Yes, he had WMDs -and USED them.

    Regardless, you must support our speedy intervention in Darfur.

    Yes, the Republicans could have done a far better job than they did but they are nowhere NEAR as wholly f'cked up as these jerks.

    your sig is interesting considering FDR was president during wartime, and there was really not much wartime during the Clinton presidency.

    I can't believe that you, Steve, have yet to admit that Iraq and Afghanistan have been complete failures. Add that to the list you made. Even with Watergate, the death of thousands of troops, an existing genocide in Darfur, Iran obtaining nukes, N. Korea testing them, pulling out of Vietnam back in the day, etc, you're still blinded?

    Seriously, how hypocritical is it to say that Vietnam was a failure, so we HAD to pull out, and then sit here and support a war where the same thing is happening, but we're NOT pulling out during a republican presidency. I don't know if you see the hypocrisy here, but it's pretty damn obvious

    Iraq and Afghanistan are not failures. The Taliban was destroyed, Osama is in hiding (or dead is my guess). Saddam and his sons are gone.

    I agree that the way we are fighting in Iraq is to lose. We had better focus or get out.

    And there is no hypocrisy.

    I probably would have supported the Vietnam war at its beginning, but again, the WAY in which it was fought was to lose and we did. This country lacks the resolve to win extended wars that get messy. We ovethink things to death while we sip our Starbucks. Then we finish our drink and decide that just because there is a slight possiblity we might be wrong, or that some innocent people would be killed, we decide just to play it safe and pull out.

    This country has immense power and capability but the enemy's best weapon is to turn us on ourselves.

    And I'm not sure what you mean by blinded. The list of events under presidencies is both good and bad events.

    Please fill in. I am curious to see what we come up with.

    And by the way Grant, you may want to rethink that "How much did the world hate us during his Presidency?" scoring system. There should be a bit more to it.
