  1. didn't i yell at you earlier about trying to start isht here...  if you're not going to contribute to ACTUAL car talk.. then why don't you just go away.. m'kay.. thanks!

So you can blab all darn day with your Pro-Bush shaz and he can't post this?

Edit: Point taken about this "Plant and run" fella. However, my money is that suspect Volvo chick is someone already on here...? Either way, be nice!

George Bush told us we were going to Iraq because he was a threat to our country, and that he supported Al Qaeda. Well, they haven't found the WMD's he told us Iraq had (and that John Kerry was told Iraq had). Still no ties to Al Qaeda either. What ever you want to go to war for, just monkeyin say it. Don't lie and then go "Whoop, bad intel. Sorry folks!"

  2. What about the countless millions of native americans that where murdered and "relocated" to "special" reservations?

Oooh oooh or the "relocation" of Japanese Americans during WWII. I don't believe any were killed, but don't tell me stripping you of your home, your job, and all your possessions for the simple reason that you knew the language of the Enemy is acceptable. We didn't exactly do it to every German family, why the Japanese? Because they were much easier to profile! We're as guilty as any other country, we just didn't leave as big a mess.

  3. I agree, there are good ones (by that I mean they simply want to work) and ones that abuse the system. I don't know where you wouldn't find someone willing to do simple labor for $8 an hour and free lunch, that's more than I make at my shitty parttime job! I don't think the dishwashers, carwashers, and landscapers (ours is a white guy) earn quite that much. Maybe the landscapers... Besides, immigrant labor has been around since the 1800's, don't start with the "this country's founded on domestic labor" stuff.

  4.    Man, you are such a tree huggin hippie! You put a disclaimer in!  It's people like you that are the reason this country is going to hell.  I don't agree with  what she said, but I don't agree with what you said.  I think we need to close off our borders and ship all that are here illegally out.  Sorry, but it just needs to be done.  Just MO and it's right! :)

The disclaimer was so that people wouldn't think I'm arrogant enough to want to deport people that came here later than my family did. I don't know what Maryland is like most of the year (only had the pleasure of visiting USNA for a few days), but down here illegals are a big part of the economy. You can't just pack them all up and ship them out, it would be absolute mayhem when they're gone.I would love to see the look on your face the day that mass-deportation happens. You may not like them, but either way, you depend on the fact that they'll do work nobody else wants too. Go sit down and smile as your president tries to pass that "Temporary Worker Card" initiative. It's impractical, but it's the most i've seen any convservative try to do towards migrant workers and I respect that.

  5. So long as we can keep the fun of the political discussions forum :P , I'd be all for spending dime to get good tech help. We could organize a comprehensive list of user write ups (like a member's version of Bay 13) and I call "lonelyliberal@volvospeed.com"

  6. I don't disagree that the middle east has been a poking mess since... well... forever. The europeans tried the crusades, the USSR back in the 50's, now us. Sadly, your comment makes me think that this whole thing will take the path of the Korean conflict: unless you cared enough to pay attention in US history in high school, nobody knows much about it 60 years later. Saddam's gone, yay. Now let's let the Iraqis have their country back and let our troops go home.

  7. I didn't say the people Iraq gained anything did I? I said middle east. 60 deaths last night in Iraq? BFD more were shot and killed here in the good ol' US. NIJ stats show 95 people were killed violently in the US last night. Show me your numbers. I can show you pages of info that shows the region has stabilized. You people need to get your facts straight and not mix region with country. It comes down to if committing genocide in Iraq would save the whole region from war you don't think we would do it? Oh wait.... we wouldn't. We would pay Britian to do it for us.

From the CIA's website: "The result was that our understanding of the status of Iraq's WMD program was always bounded by large uncertainties and had to be heavily caveated." Where be the WMD?

Show me pages and I'll shut up. What's the population of the US? A little over 250 million? What is the population of Iraq? 25 Million 95 people out of 250 million versus 60 in 25 million is a significant difference.

The point is those 95 people died in separate, isolated incidents. The 60 who died yesterday were people going to work, school, whatever. Both cases show violent crimes. Only one was motivated by someone who hated their occupier so much they were willing to kill themselves to make a statement.

  8. If Iraq doesn't have oil, then why the monkey would Bush say all that stuff about it in March 2002 when he started attacking Iraq. It went something like "It belongs to the Iraqi people..." Well now American interests are benefitting from this oil, American companies are making money off our occupation of Iraq, and people are still dying. Show me where the Iraqi people are truly gaining from all this mess. Granted, Saddam being removed from power is a vast improvement, but the rest of this stuff is taking way too poking long.

  9. I know, I've been following that since Cuba first asked the US to remove the Christmas display. It's just sad, both that we're the bastards now, and that most of the country probably doesn't have the intelligence to grasp it.

I had a woman at work the other day (I work at a department store) with whom I was having a conversation about credit card theft/fraud. I had asked her for her ID, she thanked me for doing so. It went on for a little bit, and she closed with

"Well, if we'd just close off our borders, we wouldn't have to worry about this stuff [credit card theft/fraud]."

I simply replied with a "I have no idea why you could possibly think that's anything worth wasting your breath to say" stare. Bigotry at it's finest, ladies and gentlemen. God bless the USA, but not all the foreigners that come here to seek the opportunities we take for granted.

*Disclaimer: Previous comment about foreigners not being blessed was sarcastic in nature.*

  10. And people wonder why foreigners don't like America: we're hypocritical.

    On another note:

"Cuba-U.S. relations, never good during four decades of communist rule on the island, have deteriorated during the Bush administration, which has toughened economic sanctions and publicized its plan for a democratic Cuba after Castro."

Hmm... seems like we're already doing that with one former dictator's country. Who's going to erect a billboard in Cuba's honor when we invade them!?

  11. I don't think anyone did O_o

I know I was trying to point out the propaganda war everyone's in denial about. I don't think any of us "hippies" said the troops were in the wrong. It's combat, and the Iraqi combatants were just that -- combatants. You pick up a gun, you monkey with us, we monkey you back, and if we didn't, we monkeyed up.

And if the Iraqis have internet blogging, I'm sure somebody in Arabic is typing about putting a few extra AK rounds in an American to be sure he's dead. Like Mr Admin said, there are two sides, yours and theirs. However, all you really see is the flash of the muzzle from the guy shooting at you.

  12. I'd have put one right between their eyes, and not though anything about it.

Every time a soldier takes a life it was a calculated decision, and you are not giving people enough credit if you think other wise.  Have you ever shot someone?  Have you ever seen a friend killed right infront of you?  Ever been somewhere with so much blood and guts the air smelled like copper?  If you can answer yes to those questions and still speak with the flippentness that you do, than you are no better then the dogs we hunt in Iraq.  Every dead soldier, both ours and theirs had a mother, a father, a family who is missing someone and is never coming home.  So before you say things that I hope you don't mean, think how you would feel if your father was fighting and I shot him through the leg and finished him for no reason with a shot to the head.  Maybe your a brother won't be home because I shot him and "Didn't think anything of it" as I blew his head off and watched him bleed infront of me.

Point taken. My point was that I wouldn't have thought about being reprimanded for deciding my security was more important than his life. I don't have a disregard for anyone's life, and I do agree our soldiers (and theirs) aren't out there mindlessly blowing people away. I was trying to say that a soldier shouldn't have made that decision based upon "Will this get me court martialed?" as opposed to "Is this vital to the mission, to the safety of my squad, and is it necessary?"

  13. Ahhh yes.  And this is why there is a test even for groundpounders.  You my friend in a modern military would be a cook in the mess.

So wait, I can't say that I'd put a round in the "possums" head without you saying I'm barely sane enough to be a cook, and then you post this and support it!?

  14. As a liberal, I'd simply like to add that I, too, am sick of being excessively and exhaustively considerate of people's "needs". Give me a darn break, if you're offended or feeling left out, don't listen to me, leave me alone. I hate wishing people to "Have a Happy Holiday" at work and hearing it back, I love the people that actually say Merry Christmas. I have full respect for every other faith and their respective celebrations, but I simply don't care if you're feeling sorry that 90% of the country isn't on the same line...

  15. I think a good definition to make would be the difference between sterotyping and racial profiling. Are we looking at the same thing? I think not.

Stereotyping: Seeing a beat up pickup-truck with 12" rims sticking way out of the wheel well, chrome, multi-spoke and small tires. You assume the driver is Mexican. If you live out here, you're probably right.

Racial Profiling: Per Mr Admin, stopping a car full of minorities in a wealthy neighborhood because of "probable cause."

  16. Ahhh yes. And this is why there is a test even for groundpounders. You my friend in a modern military would be a cook in the mess.

LOL seriously? How do they determine the line between self defense and sheer crazy trigger happiness? I don't consider myself lacking in compassion for human life, but when checking to see if a guy is dead risks me ending up the same way, I'd rather make sure he's dead first... I guess that's why this guy is being investigated, right?

  17. This should be on the front page of every newspaper.

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/commentary/...85504-6384r.htm

This same Marine had a friend killed not a week earlier by another Iraqi pretending to be dead. I'd have put one right between their eyes, and not though anything about it. Non-supporters of the war can't be generalized into a group of "you murdered an unarmed man!" yuppies. I for one, know what kind of sacrifice those young men and women are making, a few of which are good friends of mine. That being said, I still question our motives for being there, but I shun those who sweep up the people in the war into that same category. They're not there by choice, they're there because they have a job to do.

  18. I don't know how many fellow liberals told me they were going to Canada when Bush won the election. I wasn't happy he won either, but it's as much my country as it is that right-wing nut job's: I'm staying put. This was in an email and it made me laugh, it's something both sides can enjoy.

    Its happening already!

The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop the illegal immigration.

The re-election of President Bush is prompting the exodus among left-leaning citizens who fear they’ll soon be required to hunt, pray and agree with Bill O’Reilly.

Canadian border farmers say its not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, animal rights activists and Unitarians crossing their fields at night.

"I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn," said Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry.

"He asked me if I could spare a latte and some free-range chicken. When I said I didn’t have any, he left. Didn’t even get a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?"

In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers that blare Rush Limbaugh across the fields.

"Not real effective," he said. The liberals still got through, and Rush annoyed the cows so much they wouldn’t give milk."

Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals near the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive them across the border and leave them to fend for themselves.

"A lot of these people are not prepared for rugged conditions," an Ontario border patrolman said. I found one carload without a drop of drinking water. They did have a nice little Napa Valley cabernet, though."

When liberals are caught, they’re sent back across the border, often wailing loudly that they fear retribution from conservatives. Rumors have been circulating about the Bush administration establishing re-education camps in which liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer and watch NASCAR.

In the days since the election, liberals have turned to sometimes ingenious ways of crossing the border.

Some have taken to posing as senior citizens on bus trips to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen young vegans disguised in powdered wigs, Canadian immigration authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior-citizen passengers.

"If they can’t identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we get suspicious about their age," an official said.

Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic-broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan Sarandon movies.

"I feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just cant support them," an Ottawa resident said. "How many art-history majors does one country need?"

In an effort to ease tensions between the United States and Canada, Vice President Dick Cheney met with the Canadian ambassador and pledged that the administration would take steps to reassure liberals, a source close to Cheney said."We're going to have some Peter, Paul & Mary concerts, and we might put some endangered species on postage stamps. The president is determined to reach out.”

  19. A friend of mine had her Kerry sign stolen and a Bush sign put in its place. There. Now nobody has class anymore. :P

As was ours yanked on the Saturday night "trick or treat alternative" this weekend. Down here the Mormons are plentiful enough that some neighborhoods have a trick or treat on Saturday. They tried to get the 4th of July celebration moved to Saturday this year as well. I don't have anything against them, but somebody who thinks religion should shift an American holiday hasn't got their priorities quite right... Country that lets you practice your religion first, then whatever the heck it is you like to believe!

That being said, neither side has class. When the debate was here at ASU a few weeks ago, both sides had crazy assed people running around waving signs, stealing signs, putting stickers on people, and a lot of protesting and yelling. There. No class on either end.

As for your sign being stolen, even though I'm not for Bush, that's exactly what you should do: replace it with ten! Or a huge 8'x4' one!

  20. Doug's right, terrorists insult their claimed religions by saying they are doing what they do for religious causes.  The real reason they do it is because (a) they are nuts (B) they weren't hugged enough when they were little and © they are so pathetic already they have nothing left to lose.

I must agree. Attacking innocents in the name of Jihad is a complete violation of Islamic law for Jihad. They're fanatics. However, Bush's current foreign policy is making enemies for the US faster than our forces can kill them. Take a hint: they don't like being occupied.

I know that transforming a nation that has never known the freedoms of Democracy into one takes time, people want to reject it solely because they're so unfamiliar to it. The operation will take time. But why in the hell are we not using spec-ops to wipe out more of these wild "fundamentalists"? The majority of the population doesn't like the occupation, but understands the need to do so. The reason so many US forces are dying is we're sitting with our thumbs up our asses while fanatics recruit more 16 year old kids to come at us with AK's.

What did the russians do when terrorists held their people hostage? Spetznatz would capture important terrorist group figureheads or their family and start the bargaining with a thumb or two. Why aren't we doing that?! Bush's policy isn't focused on making the transition efficient and smooth, it's focused on getting as much money as possible out of a rebuilding nation.

  21. embryonic stem cell research is wrong and shouldn't be allowed.  It has been proven that stemcells from umbilical cords and adults are 90% more effective than those from embryos.

So you'd be willing to let them take stem cells from your bone marrow rather than from something that isn't even a fetus yet? Stem cell research has the potential to help people like Reeves. Granted, that kind of technology may have been farther away than Reeves could have utilized but it's there.

And don't tell me an anti-choice president who bowed to the Pope's condemnation of stem cell research a supporter of such a topic. I dare say the first time he heard the term he thought we were going after plants... :D
