  1. All the cool kids run Pagid Orange, but they are noisy and chew up rotors. We find that for street, Mintex Red Box or Porsche Original is best.
  2. Instead of buying the whole rotor, can we buy just the rotor hat assemblies? I work at a Porsche shop, and we contract a company to make 993TT rotors for us, and I have a pair laying around at my house. Also, if you guys want to save some money, here's what you can do: Instead of using a 993TT caliper, try to find a pair of front calipers from one of the following models: -1988 or 1989 944 Turbo "S" -1989-1991 944 S2 w/ M030 package -1986.5 or later 928 (All models, 928S4, 928GT, or 928GTS) The calipers are almost identical to the ones found on 993TTs. The caliper pistons are identical in size. Key differences between 993TT and calipers mentioned in list above. -993TT calipers are mounted in "leading" position, while the other calipers are in "trailing." You can remedy this problem by switching the cross flow tube and bleeders. (We switch them on 993TT calipers when mounting them on 944 Turbos) -Older style caliers have "Porsche" cast onto the caliper, while the new ones, the name is painted on. -I know 993TT calipers use thicker pads, but they're the same size in terms of width and height. I can't remember if the 993TT calipers are physical wider, but I'm about 75% sure that they're the same size, and you can run 993TT pads in an older style caliper. Here's a picture of a 928 S4 caliper: In terms of price, give these people a call, I think you can find 2 used calipers in the $500 area, vs. the $1100 or so for new 993TT calipers. www.partsheaven.com www.easypor.com
