Still periodically check in, not much happening with the Volvos in the stable though

no. We have 4 of these, well 4 1/2 including the parts car, in the family and no roof leaks. This one is the oldest but also the lowest mileage. This top was replaced by the previous owner however and my brother did have the top on his older one swapped a few years back. I do intend on changing the top on our red one eventually as the rear window has been re-adhesived and I have a mint one on the parts car, but it is a garage queen and the top just stays down most of the time, so havent gotten around to it ...

That looks neat. Roof still not leaking?

2011 XC90 V8 with the Executive Package - 126k Selling because we bought a SPA XC90 Rare year/color/option combo. (No, I’m not going to make a boomer board about Sven making this on the 12th July of the all hallows day) When we bought this 4 years ago, there were only 2 for sale in the US, I barely see any 2011 V8s and none brown w/black Car lived its whole life in CA so very clean underneath Has every option but the troublesome xenon bending lights and the rear headrest screens 2011 is a weird year for these. 1st year for 3rd gen Haldex (better pre takeoff torque retention), last year for the V8 V8 makes awesome noises, runs great, tows great. Has 7+4 pin hidden tow connector and 2” receiver w/hitch and 2” ball Comes with 2 season old Nokians, tire socks, rubber matts and BT usb adapter All seasons have decent life left in them Front seats are heated, cooled and massaging Rear seats are heated with a center booster seat 3rd row Rear view camera Premium stereo (same as the Dynaudio in the previous year) Nav that’s of course out of date because Volvo doesn’t make a DVD anymore (yes, it’s mounted under the driver’s seat) The BT USB adapter works decent, sound is awesome. Was going to put in a Legend kit but wife liked the OEM look Since we’ve owned it we’ve: Put brakes on all four corners Fixed leaking valve cover gaskets New plugs and coils Fixed the rattle that these can have from the variable runner length body Front suspension (can’t seem to find good upper mounts, one of them clunks again) Always maintained by me or at our local Volvo indy shop Oil changes every 5k Battery upgraded to largest AGM that can fit Headlights had a recent polish and coat Car was well loved before we got it and has picked up a couple of scratches and dings here and there We took it on a lot of great trips and will miss how comfy it is. Power for days and soaks up the miles Annoyances to some, not to us: both rear seat heater buttons were missing when we got the car. We had a cover on the rear seat the whole time so it didn’t bother us. Buttons are $100/ea from the dealer Driver’s side massage doesn’t work. Seems to be a physical issue and these seats don’t exist new anymore and didn’t want to risk a junkyard seat not working either Front clunk mentioned earlier. It’s a strut mount, nobody seems to make a good one and the dealer wants $$$$$$$ + first born so we just live with it for awhile and then get new ones when it gets annoying Ignore the VT plate, it’s in Pittsburgh, PA with a PA title Video isn’t this car, just a showoff of what they sound like with an exhaust Price is OBO and can be delivered for a fee

Bob Halpin started following 2009 V70 - Climate System Dead
-
Hi. So - no fan, heat, AC. Nada. Here's my question: A month or so ago I had the cabin filter replaced. I was going to do it myself, but my shop only charged $20 to do it. I *think* the climate system never worked after that. (I don't use the car much so I can't say for sure.) Some videos I saw about changing the filter showed one (maybe two?) wiring harnesses up in the area of the filter that had to be disconnected when making the change. So I'm wondering if that's the case then maybe the wiring has something to do with the climate system and it wasn't re-connected. Long-shot I know ... I checked the fuse, and it's ok. There's a bigger fuse/breaker thing under the fuse block that I could get at, but didn't check. (Man, it was a bugger getting at it!) If I do get it out, how to check it? (I have VOMs.) So - any comments or ideas appreciated!

saki started following S60 D4 2017 Multiple warnings
-
I am experiencing a perplexing issue with my 2017 Volvo S60 D4, which is displaying multiple error messages related to communication failures with various systems, including the ABS, transmission, ECU, and steering angle sensor. Initially, I suspected a potential shortage or water ingress at one of the CAN connectors, so I thoroughly cleaned all connections. Unfortunately, the errors reappeared. I have observed that these errors tend to manifest during hot weather or when the interior of the vehicle is warm. Interestingly, if I turn off the car for a few minutes and restart it, all error messages disappear. This situation recalls the first day the errors appeared, which coincided with a particularly hot day when my air conditioning ceased to function due to a condenser leak. I believe that the issue may be related to the Central Electronics Module (CEM) overheating. Notably, when I drive with the windows open, the errors do not occur. Additionally, I’ve noticed that when I activate the fan without the air conditioning, it blows warm air into the cabin, suggesting that the ECU or ABS may be receiving airflow from the cabin fan. I have read that earlier models featured a small pump designed to draw heat away from the ECU, and I am curious if my model has a similar mechanism, given that the placement of the control units is different. My next step is to open the CEM and install a heatsink with a fan, hopefully this will help. I would greatly appreciate any insights or suggestions regarding this issue. Specifically, if anyone has experience opening the CEM for this model or knowledge about the presence of servo-controlled vents for the ECU, CEM, or other control modules, your input would be invaluable.

Got this set ; https://eeuroparts.com/product/brembo/3088621KIT looks like the full kit is out of stock now.. I had just put a set of the rears on my 90 .. probably the nicest rotors I've ever used ... Top motor, top motor... I have one .. I want to swap the top over from my parts car to my GF's car tho .. been meaning to do it for a year or two now .. hers is good shape but the rear window was reglued awhile back and the one on the parts vessel is mint .... white car is very clean other than some cracked paint on the rear bumper, will prob be painting the one from my parts car and installing that at some point.. do you still work at Lkq?? Got a few random things I am looking for but no C70's in yards around here anymore..
-
Looks clean man! Awesome to see these still looking in great shape. Saw one pop up for sale over the weekend with a bad top motor though, almost pulled the trigger. What brembos did you put on?
-
sprucing it up a bit, gonna be a runaround car for my retired parents... they have a '23 outback, just sold their truck and camper and I hooked them up with this. .. We had been looking at newer C70s but my brother has an 01 and an 04 and my girlfriend has an 04 and I have an 04 parts car so needless to say I am quite familiar with these... just did brembos all around and going to do a timing belt service and all fluids ... got some brand new crispy jewels ... D/S is OEM 😶 also euro clear corners and amber side markers... the hella yellows I put in the fogs look amazing but my camera is unable to capture the essence..

Correct clutch kit (DMF) for V70 I
Jamesjesse replied to Jamesjesse's topic in FWD/AWD 1998 and Prior
Hi, I had a lot to do and only got to the car today. Had DMF, clutch and PP installed. Everything seems to fit without any problems. DMF fits the crank apparently without any play. I think it's simply a cost-cutting measure by Ford or just a different build design. I found something about the BMW e39 where the guy has the opposite - the old original BMW DMF just has a big hole, and he says there is now an improved DMF (whatever that means) which has a smaller hole: And if anyone is interested, the inlay cannot be pressed, it is the bearing of the DMF itself, i.e. what holds the two halves together. I have no idea when I'll put the car together, but I'll let you know if there are any problems or if I notice a difference in comfort/noise/etc. -

1998 v70 steering rack rebuild instructions
the french dude posted a topic in FWD/AWD 1998 and Prior
i wonder if anyone has a steering rack rebuild instruction for a trw ? -
Hi all, anyone knows their way around Volvo clutches, especially the differences in DMF? I took my clutch apart as it was slipping. Took the time to search and order parts after I had it apart and did not want to rush, to make sure I can check part numbers and check my order once it arrives. Did not help much, because all part catalogs, even searching by VIN and gearbox no. would list more than 1 possibility. And the original Volvo part numbers stamped on DMF (9176206-B), clutch (9176205-B)and PP (9176204-B) would not come up at all in catalogs nor Google. Never the less, talking to more parts shop, we always ended up with 2 clutch sets - LUK 600021000 and 600021400. No one knew what the difference is besides the price... I bit the bullet and ordered the first one. Just today after unpacking what came, I am confused and happy at the same time. All seemed fine, measurements align, the inner teeth count on the clutch plate are correct...But on the DMF the center (bore) is different. Left image what I have and right is what arrived. Whole day googling resulted in: There seems to be only 1 DMF always listed aftermarket, there are no choices/differences available - LUK, Sachs... I have found on ebay and on a wreckers listings (looking at OEM Volvo used DMF) that up until around 2001/2002 all images show that thing in the middle, which looks like is pressed in, whereas anything above this year, has just a big opening in the center. That thing is not really spinning, so would most likely not be a bearing and when searching for plain bearings or pilot bearings on Volvo S70/V70, does seem to be it at all. So I am ruling this out. That thing does have a part no. on it (917401700), but googling resulted only in a whole DMF for a Ford Transit?! I was researching as well the LUK kits, if perhaps the DMF would be the difference in the kits and I ordered the wrong one, but after hours of searching I found a website that list the part numbers of the pack content and I was able to narrow it down that the clutch plate it self is different - 600021000 has 20 teeth and 600021400 has 23 teeth. Looking into this, it seems that again up until 2001/2002 models had the 20 spline shaft and higher had 23 splines. Which might be even due to M56 5 Speed and M66 6 Speed difference?! Simply totally f...ed up if catalogs, even upon VIN and Gearbox no. provide you the incorrect kit as a choice. I was lucky to had ordered at least the one with correct clutch plate. Never the less, for me to conclude: Anyone knows what is the thing in the middle/its purpose? Do I need it or will I be fine mounting the new DMF without it? Maybe is a case of Ford thinking "let´s make more profit and from now on we do not need this part" and so did aftermarket? I will need to check the bores, and thinking of trying to press it out and pressing into the new one...not sure this will work though I have not found any topic on any volvo forum regards something like this. Not sure if I am the only one being too cautious or previously there had been 2 different DMF choices and no one experienced this headache. Thanks for any replies EDIT: maybe is totally ok without it? - on the crankshaft is aligned via a pin and the 10 bolts would center it anyway, clutch plate is installed with a centering alignment tool, so I doubt this serves such purpose. It would not be a bearing for the shaft either, because the clutch plate interferes into that hole and the DMF makes no contact with the shaft. So I can´t even think of what it could do, others than maybe some noise/vibration canceling device.

Any future plans for it? or just stock daily?
