I understand how the unemployment benefits work. They are partially funded by employers, as well as through income taxes. I am not sure how unemployment benefits work state-to-state, however in California it's based on if you were working going back a specific quarter depending on when you filed. There are many people who will work for short periods of time, then stop working and collect, and then cycle back through it. Regardless, the point in my comment was towards the irony in what Justin said. There is nothing wrong with using employment benefits as a transition between jobs in order to survive, or if something is preventing you from being gainfully employed. It is another to sponge those benefits until they have ran out and take extensions, while making money under the table.....when one has the ability to find work and pay taxes like most of us do. In relation to his comment, it is no different - others are having to pay for something for someone else but he is (was) not willing to work for it, but then is also profiting from it.
