  1. Those cables are soooo long! Wrap 'em under the bar tape when you replace them so it looks cleaner. Looks amazing for $60.
  2. I was about to mention the Oury grips... I'm going with Big Cheese grips. I've heard nothing but good things from people.
  3. Oh god that santa cruz is saweet! And yeah, you need a road but fixed is soooo much fun. I'm running 44x16 to start because the hills here are huge. I haven't had to walk any so there's no reason why a fixed wouldn't work in santa cruz.
  4. Dude, you host a huge web forum about Volvo's.... And I wouldn't classify lawnmowers/karts in the same category as bicycles. but yeah, I'd still like to see your collection. Any roadies?
  5. I think it's time to post up new bikes if ya got 'em. I know Rod's Stoner could use some time in the spot light and I've been quietly working on my own little gal for 6 months. Bill's also searching for his next project. Anyways, half a year later and I'm proud of the results. My children: Smokey (Kona Smoke) My daily beater and I stress that term. Amazing bike that's held up to pot holes, curbs, cars, and anything you find in a city Ayana (Pake) She's the younger of the two (two days old) and she's a wild one. Scary as balls when riding around the city. Haven't used the e-brake yet and hopefully will never have to depending on how many people don't feel like hitting me or vice versa. Show 'em if you got 'em!

should've just left the erebuni bumper on and called it quits...
  7. I wouldn't know what to do with an IP address once I get somebody else's. Doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
  8. That was possibly the best way of explaining the process. Amazing!
  9. There lies the problem- Volvo doesn't know their customers. Or rather, they don't know us. There are very few people on these boards that purchase brand new vehicles. Being the poor "purists", we generally go for the cheaper and older models of volvos. The majority of people who own volvos never even imagined modifying one. Volvo has already released special parts like body kits and such but it isn't paying apparently. I'm not sure of their financial situation but I'm sure that they're doing what any other corporation would do; appeal to the masses and steamroll the minorities. Just because we don't see anything positive in the newer models doesn't mean the average car owner won't. Obviously Ford/volvo isn't making the money they wanted through the R-line so they're "temporarily" pulling it regardless of our opinions. We're basically agreeing with the masses anyways. By not purchasing a new R (or convincing your friend to buy one) you could have quite possibly helped cause the demise. Or, the general person thought it was too expensive and not to their liking so they chose a bimmer or benz.
  10. You better stop with all that sensible stuff around here. We don't take to kindly to those with them big brains.
  11. I'm confused- what the difference between "A" and "B"?
  12. Yaaaarrrr- apirates life for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. QUOTE(Plan_B @ Apr 4 2007, 06:51 AM) ←He said new, your not new........remember you were voted 'Douche Of The Month" like four months ago. Maybe you should read a little harder before making insulting remarks. I wasn't replying to the "new" part of chuck's comment. I was commenting on the fact that I read the news forum.
  14. You haven't seen the R-forum yet. Your chain saw swap won't freak out anybody compared to what my eyes have seen in that place.
  15. I don't know what any of this stuff means but maybe sometime in the future I'll use it if I ever need it (once I figure out what it is and how it works)
  16. I don't want to sound ungrateful but I still think you should either A) keep the cash for yourself or put the money towards a "gift" rather then cash. I think you've accomplished a hell of a lot to get this site at it's current position and you shouldn't feel obligated to give anybody anything. The reason people help out so much is exactly that: to help out others. They're not expecting to get anything in return (except maybe a little respect). I can't stop you from handing out free cash and I know other people want me to shut up about the topic. I'm not that helpful when it comes to repairs or modifications nor was I ever expecting anything from this site other then information and the occasional group buy. Volvospeed gives back to the community as a place where people can get connect with each other about topics that they have in common. No award plans are necessary as long as everybody is having a good time. Those that aren't having a good time should simply leave or adapt.
  17. I've always looked at the news forum and figured others did as well. I just thought that people never responded to the threads. I also think the newsbot (which was a pain in the ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD) kind of turned people away and they never realized that you took it away. I always found this thread as important and informative most of the time. I think I might actually enjoy this forum the most of all other because it has the least pointless threads in it (in my opinion of course).
  18. It's hard when all of the other members make moronic jokes claiming that the first gen S40 isn't a volvo. I constantly see other members ragging on other peoples' cars simply because they don't like the member or the car. In these scenarios, people just feel like jumping on for the hell of it. Take Arob's thread about his [Mom'] XC90. He never claimed it was his in the thread and it's stock. People just begin flaming him for the hell of it. Earlier, Mike (EvolveT5R) posted a thread about his stock S60T5 and he gets more compliments then some of those with modifications to their cars. It's all about status on this site and it's not something that we should be proud of either. What kind of example are the moderators setting when they begin a thread about disliking a member? They should simply deal with the member rather the attempt to embarrass them off the site. It doesn't seem like the correct way of dealing with unruly members. All I have to say is: If you have a problem with a member, don't think you're better then them and set up a thread showing it. That's precisely why volvospeed has the title of stupid kids. Our members can be irresponsible a lot but we should not expect the same from our moderators.
  19. Woooooooooo hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!11!1!!!!!!
  20. I may have to change my name and location after this but I'm willing to take the flaming (if there is any). But I digress... I think some of the responses in here are irrelavent to which direction volvospeed should go. I don't mean to shoot down ideas (well, I do- but not in a nasty way) but I don't think a motorsports section would live long as a thread. So far, all races involving a volvo have been posted in news because that's precisely what it is. There isn't a substantial amount of volvo action in the racing scene. There's already a section for those that drag or race their cars but the ATspeed volvos don't apply there. Creating a section soley for Atspeed would probably be as lively as Scott's project 6 thread. There would be spurts every now and then but nothing significant. Now that I know a little behind the inner workings of this site, I think it should probably plateau at this point just to make sure everything is stable (the site and the people). I agree with Pras that more attention needs to be payed to the quality of posts and members. There are those that give volvospeed the stereotype that we're a bunch of idiot kids with fwd volvos that are bent on looks rather then performance. Having your car appear appealing to the eye is one thing but when people start calling you stupid just because you're a member on a forum, something went horribly wrong. After all, it's just the internet so why would somebody have anything negative to say about a whole forum? I'm keeping the poster on Tbricks anonymous but he called the members on volvospeed "stupid" for the sole reason that we care more about our headlights rather then the engine. I enjoy volvospeed and it's a priveledge to be allowed to be a member here but some people take that for granted. Although there are members who post insignifact repetitive threads, it's left to the members to flame them with nothing done by the moderators. I feel that action should be taken to prevent the waste of time even if it's in offtopic. I also agree with Pras about teaser threads. They are a pain in the ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD and a waste of time when people have to make comments about how they hate teaser threads. I also get annoyed when people respond with simple comments similar to "nice" and "I like it" when somebody posts an image of their car or particular part. The same goes for those that post images and become annoyed with members who disagree and state it. Both of these are probably just a problem I need to get over and I can deal with it but they just don't seem sensible to me. Also, chuck may be funding VS and I'm thankful he is but he didn't make VS into what it is today by himself. It's the members who contributed to the forum with money and knowledge as well.
  21. I think the forum has definitley improved since I joined. The one thing that concerns me about volvo credibility are the car shows. A meet isn't considered a car show because it doesn't have the same impact as many people crammed in a venue staring at the cars in perfect presentation. Ben (855R), Doug, Alen, and a few others have attended legitimate shows and some have won trophies. Car shows are a means to get the volvo name out there and represent an under dog company. The problem is that we only seem to compete with saabs and other euros ie carlisle. By attending HIN, Ben was representing volvo among a vast amount of japanese automakers who could possibly strike an interest in creating products. This leaves me to wonder why there aren't more people submitting their cars into large venues. Most people want to be sponsored but that involves attending a certain amount of car shows (for some companies) and I don't believe many of the members on this board have time for this. I think people on this board have pride for their car when it comes to beating a 350Z on the highway but when it comes to the show- the Z will be there while the Volvo will be somewhere else. If people want more credibilty for their cars, they need to take the responsibilty to prove it to the gearheads. There are hundreds of reasons not to own a volvo but we all own them for the love of the company and the potential in these cars (or we just love the comfort and reliability). In my opinion, volvospeed is stuck at a point. The S60 project car is an amazing craft of workmanship. The question is: what will the public think when it's released? Will they change their ideas about the stereotypical grocery-getter? Or will they shake their heads in confusion about the platform that was chosen. For volvospeed to survive and grow as a website, it really doesn't matter what we think to a point. We need to attract more members who are willing to learn or share information about these cars. I agree with chuck about the "search" statement. It really isn't helping anybody when one member tells a new member to search when it's almost nearly as helpful to find it for them (because somebody on this board DOES have the time) or just answer them with the appropriate response. Quite simply, I'm addicted to this site and would hate to see it plummet into corporate sponsorship because I know people have opinions about certain products that have failed on them. With the inability to post these negative experiences, other members would not be capable of warning other members who were interested in said product. I can't think of anything else to say right now.
