Hi,everyone I have an 850,it was 2.0 GLT and I modified it myself to T-5.I loved Italian cars,I had UNO,and wanted to buy a COUPE TURBO PLUS or PUNTO GT but my father was not ok with this,(safety)so he gave my as a gift his lovely 850.Now 3 years later I spend all my money to the car(THANK God we have a VOLVOworkshop and have discount to the parts!!!!),because I really love my VOLVO.Now to my point,next winter I'm thinking to make a quite big improvement(pistons,rods,turbo-not MITSUBISHI-custom chip tuning,exhaust etc.)I'll keep it at least 10 years more.Then I'll buy VOLVO of course but diesel.I know that is boring for you the experts,and stupid from me,I can't work with the search!!!but I want your opinions and advices for correct steps until 400-450 hp.And the most important is that I'll drive it on the road.

Thanks for your replys Mike I found a person in sweden,who sells pistons and rods,I think that I'll buy from him the parts,his price was very attractive.less than 2000 euros for pistons and h rods.

I've run about 70000km since I changed the rings,to tell you the truth I changed everything,except the pistons which were in good condition,I used shell 15w-50,no difference,then I used shell 5w-40 the same,then motul 300v 15w-50 the same again and now I use from Volvo 10w-40 semi-synthetic and the same result again!I believe that I sould throw the engine.But I threw my money to refresh it.

As I saw the cylinders were OK.But if you hone the cylinders it will last for many km?I love my car but I am really dissapointed from it concerning the oil consumption.I was thinking to do other modifications when I took it(S60R rims,change the leather seats with new,turbo etc.....)but now I have to open the engine's internals again.and the other strange is that it has very,very good performance.

Can you explain me please what hone means with other words?my english are not so improved!!!I changed them because my engine since I bought it had high oil consumption,and I thought to do a refresh.the upper rings had marks that gases were over it(they were black).

I have already done this before,but no difference.Can it be from a piston failure?I've changed the rings but not the pistons.

If smoke comes out from the dipstick must be the rings 99%?Your turbo is it from truck?VOLVO FH12(truck) has HX55 and HX50.

Hi there,is it possible that the engine may have high oil consumption from worn valve guides?
