  1. Liking the blackout on the C30 Hussein.  Looks great!

It is cool that the C30 has such a good aftermarket selection of parts.  I've been telling myself the next time i'm in the market for a vehicle that is where I will search first,  by aftermarket.  Looking on the ATP site, they have some big turbo stuff for the C30/V50/S40.  Then i got sidetracked looking at the ecoboost stuff, they have some really good looking kits for both the Fiesta and Focus ST.  Not to mention a 500hp capable kit for the SHO, explorer, and F150's with the twin turbo 3.5 V6.

  2. Just tearing them up, eh?

Heard that Raxles isn't doing volvo axles anymore.  :(

I've had success with axles unlimited in Charlotte, NC.  They offer exchange service and are very reasonable.  They also offer higher performance rebuilds to include larger bearing races and cages and poly boots with moly grease.  Just stay on them on the core refund,  took me a couple months to get mine back and it was a partial because one of the axles couldn't be rebuilt.

  3. Maybe its 99+ thing, but my PTC doesn't have two lines entering, only the top which is stepped down from the manifold end port. Maybe at idle it is losing vac because of the two ports? If you'd like I can send you the PTC i'm talking about. Not sure if its something you'd like to experiment with or not. I also have one from my 01' S40 which also has only 1 port on top.

  4. Hussein,

I'm sure you've already considered this, but I thought of something while installing my Snabb intake pipe. I believe the bottleneck in the oem intake tube is designed to create a venturi effect on the ptc sensor, allowing crankcase vapor to be drawn from the oil trap and a rate consistent with the increase in manifold pressure. Would it be ok to assume that the lack of this venturi effect through an inlet tube that maintains a larger diameter would have any effect on the motors ability to draw back crank vapor through the intake as was designed? Just a thought. The effect might be negligible considering the amount of pressure that your system is capable of producing over a stock system.

love to hear your thoughts on this.

  5. Different set of issues -I have to clear the AWD. Running the DP straight down the right side helps.

your pictures are great! If you have one, could you please post a pic of the downpipe avoiding the front diff from the top side? I'm having issues with getting a test pipe section made locally and a reference picture would help show how you avoided things.

    Thanks!

  6. Well you guys are all right. The s40 is indeed not a true volvo, it's volvo knockoff of a mitsubishsi.

And they can be modded very tastefully or too the extreme just with any other volvo i've seen.

If i knew then what i know now i wouldn't have got the s40, but i've always liked volvos and

didn't know what i was getting. But, i've gotta live with it for the time being, it's a really fun

car, easiest i've ever worked on, and has been virtually trouble free. Anyway, heres a picture

of my 2001 s40, i think it's been done pretty tastefully. Flame if you want, it is a work in

progress, but then again, who's car isn't.

  7. well, the phase 1 year 2000 and older models have a poor strut design and longer more feeble sway bar endlinks. I'd recommend replacing with 2001 design struts and endlinks, either oem replacement (sachs) or koni for better performance and adjustablility. If you're leaning toward the extreme performance end, i'd say get a KW coilover kit and be done with it.

The only thing i can say that i like about the older suspension is that it has pressable ball joints, i had to replace my lower control arms because my 2001 has fixed ball joints so when they're shot, you've got to replace the whole arm.

One other option that many have used on the 2000 model is getting bilstein struts and shocks along with H&R coil springs. The Bilsteins are valved to work extremely well with the H&R's. If you go that route, i'd recommend getting some stiffer adjustable sway bar endlinks, a sport suspension would trash them quickly, if they're not already shot.

    hope i've been some help.

ps. the url in my signature has several posts about phase 1 and phase 2 suspension differences, and can definitely help you find out the suspension combination you need. There are also several memebers who have upgraded there 2000 suspension to 2001 or newer, and provide thorough details and part numbers along with links to online parts stores. I'm in no way trying to encourage memebership to s40concepts.net , simply passing along information that is already there. Good luck.
