  1. Hmm. I may have to grab that receiver. That would just plug in to the existing stuff I have and I'd be good to go?
  2. So I emailed niles, this was there response- Mike, As long as the volume controls are impedance matching and set correctly, you should use a 100w RMS amplifier stable to 4ohms. I suggest the Niles Si-2100 and will fit well into this system. Have a nice day. Niles Tech Support
  3. awesome. Thanks. We'll see about getting to cover off one of these speakers with out destroying the ceiling or speaker. I'll keep you posted.
  4. Ok, Thanks so Much for the advise. I'm sure they wont be great, but i would hope they would be adequate for playing some background music through the house better than my little stereo. I realized this morning looking at the wires there are 3 sets of yellow wires with the plugs on the ends for the niles box, and there are 3 cat 5 wires marked with the same rooms. though i've never seen a network connection in 2 of the rooms, they do have a phone outlet, and i have a network plug in the basement, which again doesn't appear to be connected to these. (I've never used any of these either) So I'll need to get these speakers figured out to see where is is all going. I do completely understand that they will most likely not be amazing, but they are here, i'd like to use them. Mike
  5. Well, I'll say indent know much about home audio really. That makes sense in the volume controls and the box in the closet. So first I need to find out the ohms of the speakers, then we can figure out what kind of amp/receiver is needed to run them, right? Would the speakers just pull down from the ceiling? I wonder if there would be anything to identify a brand or model of the speakers on the back?
  6. On speakers, I have 2 in the kitchen, 2 in the living/dining room and 2 in the master bedroom. All 3 of those sets have a volume control on the wall. In the basement I have the space for 2 ceiling speakers, but the speakers are missing. For stereo equipment I have an older technics shelf system. (Sa-ch455) For the basement a sound system would be nice. I'm not really sure what the plan is down there. We currently have a Samsung sound bar for the TV and it works fine. So if the basement isn't directly linked with the upstairs system, that could be a future project. That is where the TV is located so it would be the place a home theater system would go. Thanks! Mike
  7. awesome. That would be great. Ok, so here's the speakers and the volume switch. I'm sure that's no help but I'll post it anyway. Where the wires come in the wall, and one of them The other wires, some with these plugs And the connectors attached I've got speakers upstairs in the kitchen, living room, dining room, and one bedroom. Then to throw in even more difficulty I have the spaces in my basement family room where 2 speakers should go, and some wires near where the TV would go. I'm not sure if those are tied into the upstairs system or not.
  8. Ok home audio peeps. Here's a tough one for you: My house was the model home for the neighborhood. And as such it has speakers in the ceiling, and volume control on the walls. And a bunch or wires and plugs sticking out in a closet. There is no receiver or stereo or anything. Before I pay some local audio guy to come look at it, if I posted up some pics of what I have does anyone think they could offer me some direction on what I need to use this system? Also, the builder has been bought out since the home was built, and they have no info on it. I am not the original owner. I have no access to any information they may have had on it either. Thanks!
  9. Well when they start the hard ball selling, just ask how long you can live there once the foreclosure on your current home is complete that should get them to stop selling pretty quickly.
  10. I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you mean that in the "Bad" way.
  11. Vs app. Does anyone use it anymore? Is mobile just the way to go now? Ok. I just saw the download link on the bottom of the page and it's not available in the App Store anymore. Guess that answers my question.
  12. Do they let you do the Cat IV's at home or do you have to bring the cat in? My previous cat had put herself into liver failure and then needed them for a few months to get better, i was able to do them at home. she just laid really still for them the whole time.
  13. Just refer to them as Boatercycles from now on. So if they'll sell it for that much what did they give the guy who traded in, $100? or did he actually have to PAY to have you guys take it?
  14. I have an apple phone and am currently drinking a hard apple cider. At least I don't have a BMW.
  15. Yes. I have sprint. And it SUCKS SO MUCH. But I'm finally out of contract (as of the end of April) but holding out for the 6 before I jump carriers. My old 4s is getting pretty tired too.
  16. I purchased a glass to replace on the wife's iPhone 4S. She's too nervous to actually be ok with me doing the repair. I think she'll let me do it before we trade em in when the 6 comes out and we switch carriers. The wagon/sedan difference wouldn't stop me from purchasing if it was perfect in evey other way. Sometimes I feel like selling all my vehicles and my parts and starting over with something else completely. Silverado, v70r and. 76 cadillac. Ugh.
  17. Ha! That's awesome. Now I know what to do with the set of perfos in my garage!
  18. Sure the one time i leave the house to go to ikea this gets posted....
  19. how else are you gonna keep up with the Joneses?
  20. Hey, Nate Certification is a pretty cool guy.
  21. This is such a problem in so many people I know with a tiny amount of knowledge in an area.
  22. Yes the aggressive driver was wrong, but how much of that was caused by an old lady trying to record on her phone and drive at exactly 55 in what appears to be the passing lane?
  23. I'm not saying driving requires 100% of your attention. I'm agreeing with the previous poster that both vehicles we being driven by someone driving like a douche. Also judging by the fact she moved the camera around to her dash and back to the truck I'm goin to assume (from personal experience of observing others taking videos) that she was most likely paying more attention to the phone than the road. It's like going to a concert and seeing people video it. They pay for really good seats and then watch the show through a 3 inch screen because they are watching the video as it records through the camera.
  24. that also could have been avoided if the lady filming would have actually put the phone down and paid attention to the road and her driving. i was actually expecting her to wreck being the distracted driver, though it never would have been uploaded if that had been the case.
  25. Apperently I've been lucky to not end up with an eye full of old man at the last two gyms I've been a member of.
