  1. wow, I didn't know AAA dropped anyone either. I had my 76 Cadillac towed twice last summer when I had it out. Once when the break lines went and then once a couple weeks later when it wouldn't start (ended up being something in the steering column)

I think we use the hotel discount once in a while...mostly keep it for the towing since the wires Prius is at over 300,000 miles...

we bought the outback in 2016 for my wife.  I still had the company car.

they took away our company cars and we got her a 2018 4runner and I took over the outback for work.

I bought an Ascent a couple weeks ago and moved the outback to a kids car.

I'm about to order another car for wifey today I hope.  that was our 4th 4runner and we are just not happy with it.

Makes sense. We’ve got a 2017 outback and it’s been great. Wife’s still rocking her 08 Prius at 300,000 miles now. Though she’s taken the outback a lot this winter for the heated seat and heated wheel.

too bad they took away the company car.

what are you ordering to replace the 4Runner?

i've basically given the R to the kids.  They don't think listening to the motor is all the sound thats needed.

So I'm not alone in this. As my kid has her eye on my R though she's got 5 more years to go and the wife is starting to question why we have so many cars around....

Damn. You should sell it to me. Seriously don't let the kids kill it. Then Quicksilver and I can be twins with a pair of Saffrons in the garage.

That said, the Church would refuse any tithes paid on gambling earnings.

wait, a church not taking money? since when

im more surprised they would decline a tithe yet basically be ok with someone playing once in a while when it gets crazy big.

In my country USPS doesn't handle customs but the local expeditor does. Can take a long time. I have had packages which took over a week to get through customs. Don't know if UK does the same but looks like it. Tracking doesn't show shit during the time the package is waiting for clearance.

I know there is really not much for tracking once something leaves the country.  And I know there is a lot more mail during this time of year.  My biggest issue with this UK package is that the tracking never shows it being sorted out, or leaving Chicago.  Like my Germany package does.

It is what it is. ive mailed a ton of packages this year selling items.  It's just a bummer when the only issues I have had are right around Christmas. But again, there is so much higher volume....

  6. USPS is having issues this holiday season as well.

I sent a package to the UK on 11/20. The last tracking details were it arrived in Chicago on 11/22

I also sent a package to Germany on 12/11  and it's last tracking shows it delivered on 12/23 (which was confirmed by the person I sent it to

The annoying thing is USPS won't do anything about the missing UK package.. They claim it's on the way to the uk  I'm pretty sure that it's still sitting in Chicago somewhere

I used robber or crazy asshole as examples for a reason. I'm not talking about some well thought out organized terror event with multiple attackers. That's a tough scenario to address. But I'm thinking it wouldn't take a lot of extra effort to design some places with ways to escape one bad person. And I think the single attacker is a far more observed scenario.

The problem with that too is its another entry point into the "secured" area. And in my experience or coworkers, it's just a care door that people can hang out and smoke from. (Avoiding work) and potentially forgetting to lock when they close up at night.

  9. Anyone ever run tire chains? I have zero experience with them and I'm debating getting a set for this winter. I'll be in my S90 this winter, and I drive a lot in the snow (you know, for practice). I've had limited experience with RWD in the snow, but I'm worried about hill traction. I'll have non-studded snows all around, but will the lack of engine weight be a significant hindrance? The biggest problem I'm seeing with them is the speed limitation, 30mph tops? Is it accurate to say they're only useful if you can't get up the hill, but otherwise you'll wish they weren't on?

My perception with RWD in the snow is that the negative opinion is mostly a carry-over from the older generation driving heavy cars, with torquey motors and shitty tires. Am I wrong?

I have also never had chains. My experience in snow is a 89/93 Ford Mustang and a few silverados

I had a bag of cat litter in the back of the mustang in winter. Seemed to be fine. My truck I didn't do anything but my mom puts sand bags in her truck and it does make a difference.

  10. When I was a kid, and new to all this, I needed to move my music collection from one computer to another. I discovered I could re-encode it all as 32kbps MP3, and it would be super small! HOW AMAZING! And then I could just up-convert back, or even better, to 320kbps! That's when I learned about lossy compression the hard way, and just how terrible 32kbps is

I'm actually surprised I didn't do this as well back in the day when I had my Diamond Rio MP3 player that could hold pretty much 1 cd's worth of songs. And then maybe another 4 with the flash card I had.

Jeeze. I was looking for a pic of the rio to post, and I just saw that the last windows to support it was 98. I swear mine worked in win 2k.

  11. the receiver arrived today.

and i totally took the easy way out and just attached the wires as suggested. and oh my goodness. it works.

    its amazing.

I get pretty good sound coverage in the upstairs of my house. for a little radio in the morning and pandora it will get the job done. im Thrilled.

    THANKS SO MUCH!

Ok, is there a specific airport express you'd recommend?

Looks like it needs to be at least a 2nd generation Airport express if what im finding is correct?
