  1. The lighting in this one is great. Very simple and focused. Serge that city shot is great. You've taken a shot there before haven't you? That s-curve in the foreground works perfect. Practicing rim-lighting.
  2. Thank you. I see where you are coming from. I just don't find it natural looking with the back lighting.
  3. :D I tried dodging her face a bit but do not like how it plays with the backlighting. You are right though, a bit of fill flash would have worked well. I should have tried taking the sb600 out. Didn't cross my mind. Next time.
  4. I guess we can expect a lot of baby photos Greg? Time to get the 105 DC! Co-workers daughter:
  5. Thank you! I've only had to use the microadjust on my D300. Yeah, I was too. Since it was a sunrise I decided to upload the color one first. Usually I can decide pretty easily which one I like but this one was tougher.
  6. Here is the black and white version that some have liked better:
  7. Little Manitou Falls near Superior, WI:
  8. Thanks Greg. Stayed up all night and drove a total of 9 hours for 2 shots but I think it was worth it. Fall colors up near Superior are at peak. Hopefully I can follow them down all the way south as they change.
  9. Waiting for the sun to come up:
  10. Thanks nari! I've been using Photoshop for a while now. Nothing wrong with cars. Do you have your own rig? Nice lighting on the car.
  11. Video of the falls. May try and go in and edit frame by frame when I get really bored: Triptych type shot:
  12. Sure: Really happy with this one:
  13. Potato falls. More to come hopefully. Went for a chiaroscuro edit with this b&w.
  14. Looks a lot better on my home monitor vs work. I think with some quick editing the second shot really pops.
  15. Looks like pretty good lighting the first. That second flower would be great I think with some better lighting and black and white.
  16. I like the closer crop of the first one and second. Street shots at night are tough.
  17. Thanks for the the info. I'd love a new monitor but can't justify one right now. Maybe later... I saw that on FM too. I remember reading about a big film director who bought that lens to be adapted for film use. I think one was on ebay for 20 some thousand a few months ago. Nice shot too. Cool looking waterfall. Always cool to see old color photos. The Russian ones from the turn of the century are pretty insane. http://www.newsweek.com/photo/2009/08/31/photos-prokudin-gorskiis-color-photos-of-russia-1907-1915.html
  18. Nice shots nari. I've still yet to give panning a good try. Iphone?
  19. Thanks mate. Those look like they could have benefited from some nice late evening lighting. I think that would have helped them a bunch.
