  1. Yeah their prices are better than my local place. Here is a huge review of a few online places if anyone is interested: http://www.ronmartblog.com/2009/11/lens-rental-review-series-conclusion-7.html
  2. Yeah figured that. Their prices are very good. Just found this place that also has great prices: http://www.lensprotogo.com/Nikon_Lens_Lookup.php
  3. Woot! Should be sweet. Do you rent locally or online? I've got a local place that seems to have good prices but I haven't tried them yet. May rent a big prime in the next two months. Nice shots too.
  4. Looks nice and versatile. But B&H says it supports 5.5 lbs which may not be enough for me. That'd be a nice one too. I think I may save for a 300mm 2.8 AF-I. They can be had for 1700 or so and seem to work fantastically.
  5. Any model in particular? The Manfrotto heads seem to be highly recommended. Was looking at this one: http://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-498RC2-Release-Replaces-488RC2/dp/B002UOCWUK/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1279243109&sr=1-1
  6. Yeah that would have worked. Doesn't look like you'd lose any detail in the shadows if you did that. It may just be harsh mid-day sun reflecting off her. Tough to deal with harsh lighting.
  7. If it's too far gone probably not. Would end up just looking grey instead of white. Doesn't have the skin tone you'd want. If it's too over exposed there isn't anything to work with for burning.
  8. I am surprised how well they work. I shot that with the 135mm and didn't think it'd work well but I was surprised. Clearly my tripod head needs an upgrade though. Very rigid and not fluid. Agree with gdizzle on that photo. Colors pop nicely.
  9. No problem, I definitely wasn't the first. I just like the look of it, especially on wider crops.
  10. Yeah with those zooms you really don't 'need' primes. Kenko extension tubes:
  11. Yeah, I used mine a lot, my most used lens by far. But I felt like trying something different. The 135mm cost a bit more so I figured I could sell the 135 for the price I paid and then buy an AF-S 80-200 if I did not like the 135. I really like using primes more though and think I am going to stick with them. Besides the Tokina 11-16 I am getting soon I have a 50, 85, and 135. I really might try and save for one of the big gun primes like a 300 or 400 2.8. The 105 is supposed to be just as good if not better from what I've read. A few people have said they think it's a tad sharper. I just thought it'd be too close to an 85 for now.
  12. Really love it so far. Today, out with the dogs, would have been the first day I'd want the zoom of the 80-200 but I didn't miss it at all. I don't know if I posted that here but I sold my 80-200 so I could get the 135mm.
  13. D50 is Nikon. I prefer Nikon but it doesn't really matter what company you end up with out of the big ones. The d50 performs very well especially for its price used. I don't know enough about Canon's equivalents to give you advice for them. You could also get a d70 for cheap. Adorama sells used equipment and that way you know everything is working and it comes with a short warranty in case something isn't right. Better than buying from craigslist. http://www.adorama.com/US%20%20%20%20395081.html Get that and a 50mm 1.8 for $100 which is better than the kit lens in my opinion.
  14. What is your budget? A used D50 and either kit lens or 50mm can be had for Under $350. The d50 should be cheaper than Nikon's newer entry level cameras while allowing you to use their full range of lenses and not restricting yourself to af-s or manual focus only. The image quality is also great since it uses a ccd sensor.
  15. Really like the grass and bamboo.
  16. 3 zooms or primes? Either way I'd go with this: Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 Nikon 85mm f1.4 Nikon 135mm f2 dc or 200mm f2 I'm not much for the mid/normal range.
  17. Nice shot. Did the preset you were using add the flare in those edited shots?
  18. Thank you. I really think it looks better like that vs no grain. Mesoam, what ISO were those at? Did you crop them quite a bit? Last one is good timing.
  19. I like it. Now you need a better scan!
  20. Have a couple but most weren't as good. Just those two on my Flickr.
  21. Do it. Film is fantastic. I wish I didn't sell my f100. There was an f5 on craigslist for $200! But it was sold when I called the guy.
  22. Hope that turns out to be the case.
  23. Thanks! I've been trying to get some decent street shots but I really feel awkward taking photos downtown of people. I really like this guys style:
