  1. http://www.flickr.com/groups/canon_50mm_f14_usm/ Check through there.
  2. No kidding. Not sure on Canon but Nikons 50mm 1.8 is sharp and really cheap. Very versatile lens.
  3. No doubt! Can't go wrong with either. Canon seems to have more and usually cheaper lenses at a wider range of apertures. If I could have one camera though it'd be a d3s. Maybe sell my car to buy one.....nope nobody would buy my car for that much!
  4. No doubt, hope to put it to good use!
  5. Thanks. Shooting wide open didn't help the sharpness. But I didn't want the elements more behind the focal point to be close to sharp. Woot, and a new lens:
  6. Thank you. DOF is very shallow and 1 and 3 are soft. 2 the focus is on the left pedals of the top right flower. Focus on this one is very shallow as well and only on 2 or 3 pedals:
  7. Thanks! You've got to learn me on flash. Just got an sb600 and looking at your photos it's clear I have no idea what I am doing. Any websites or pointers?
  8. . Didn't want to post it in the thread for favorite shots of your car.
  9. Thank you. I always use Photoshop. For the recent ones I started with normal sharpening, contrast, levels, and curves adjustments that all my photos go through. I then used Nik Silver efex to do a black and white conversion with a blue tone and yellow paper tone. Then decreased the opacity of that layer to around 50%. Merged layers with the color layer and increased the saturation a bit.
  10. Do you mean in this thread? I am sure some do. The over-done ones will have a funky look to them. Some people like the effect and that's cool, I just don't. Usually along the lines of this: http://www.neurosoftware.ro/programming-blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/75081_HDR_Berlin_by_emrecancom.jpg A really well done HDR you wouldn't be able to tell it's done. The two links I posted a few minutes ago show how to do it very well without going over the top. Some people like to differentiate between exposure blends and HDR because exposure blends typically look quite a bit more natural. In either case though you are increasing the dynamic range beyond what a single exposure could capture.
  11. Thanks! If you are talking about HDR I would recommend these sites: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/high-dynamic-range.htm http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/hdr.shtml I would try and stay away from the fake looking, heavily tone-mapped kind of HDR. I prefer blending the layers myself versus using Photomatix as the result, to me, is much more realistic. The key is to still have the photo maintain a full range from light to dark but not go overboard and have everything be midtoned.
  12. Nice shots of the mask, I like the 2nd one. You're on bimmerforums too? Looks pretty good. Bird is smack in the center though.
  13. Non car photography thread. :)
  14. Good action shot. Looks a tad soft to me. Manual focus is hard....
  15. I agree^. Nice framing though.
  16. Nice shots nari. 3rd one is cool.
  17. Nice background. I like the framing of the first one.
  18. Thanks. Just the generic things are all I can think of for illusion photography. http://damncoolpics.blogspot.com/2007/02/photo-illusions.html
