Get the code read, and you wont have to guess. -
The heateer hoses themselves are a pain to replace, but you can do them with patience. The little J-shaped hose coming off of the turbo can be had at the dealer only. It's about $12.00, and I suggest replacing it because: A) you need to remove it to easily change one of the heater hoses and they do go bad. It happened to me.

Dont half-jerk it with a sealer type product; they will only ruin other parts later. You're better off diagnosing and fixing the problem right the first time.

How flexible is the stuff? I would have to agree that it would probably chip and flake easily.
