  1. I also question the metrics which they used to measure these "similarities". They didn' t mention precisely how they measure differences and similarities between. What similarities? Physical, emotional, intellectual similiarties? Seemed like they were purposefully vague in that section.

Also with the adoption thing, no indications to the differences in how old a kid was when adopted. That plays a huge difference. The most formative years of a childs life are early on.

  2. I tend to agree with the general decline of respect, courtesy, and civility on the internet, but it's not restricted to VS. It's all over the internet, as people don't have to be held responsible for their attitudes or obnoxious comments. Many of these people would not have the gall to say these things to people face to face, but the "keyboard commando" surfaces all too often in this medium.

I'm on many other forums for gaming, volvos, cars in general, and some political stuff, and it's prevalent everywhere. I applaud you for mentioning here, because it can poison the well from which we all draw our common interest, in this case our bricks. I'm a newly registered member, but I've been on VS in the past and as a guest more recently (I went over to the Ford side for a few years), and I think it's a fantastic resource and source of entertainment. But if people are afraid to ask questions or make new posts for fear of getting slammed by a particular group (and yes, they exist everywhere), then they simply won't post. Thus new topics and ideas cease to pop up, and we're left to rehash the same old stuff. Sometimes bringing up a new spin on an old topic is welcome, and shouldn't be met with the "did you use search yet?" response.

All in all, I enjoy it here, as many other members do. And the issues noted aren't immune to VS, but we can at least nip them in the a$$ here if we try to keep this a fun place for ALL.

    I think I'm done.

I have to agree that it is prevalent thoughout the internet. The certain level of anonymity of the internets leads to e-badasses and such, not only here. Actually, a bit less here than most places. That, I will applaud.

I definitely agree with the fear that some new folks might have when entering The VS realm. I think EVERYONE needs to remember that we are all people. I see short and often misunderstood replies to honest questions. People typing "search button, you can haz it... nooob!" or "try again" or "facepalm" a bit too freely. I understand if it is in jest and all parties understand, then cool. But if someone has a serious question, especially a person that is not a VS Regular, answering like a jerk to prove to others that you have been around so long that you've seen a thread on it before and that YOU know how to search.…. aint cool. (don’t get me wrong, some people need to be told/informed about search and its wonderful benefits, but TACT goes a long way) Remember, what you say now will be searched later! I HATE searching and clicking a thread that I think has my answer only to have it be a dead-end thread because it ended in: "search...noob". That being said, I think we should make a conscious effort to make sure that our posts are searchable (keywording, avoiding post and bail, deleting dead-end threads, etc). We should also make an effort to make sure that good threads don't get muddled up with crap and that when they eventually close, a person who DOES use search will find the info they need without having to start another thread.

I'm glad I found this thread, as it reminds me of some things that I personally need to work on as well. I have a couple write-ups that definitely need to be finished. And I'm sure I could be a little more thoughtful before I post.

I love the community here and I want to give back for all that I have received. I like this part of the Interwebs (VS) and I promise to help keep it cool. You'll see me try harder to make this a better place in 2009. And with that, I leave you with a quote from Mahatma Ghandi:

"We must become the change that we wish to see in others"

  3. Wow and we thought my spelling was bad, jebus.

You've at least understand the use of punctuation

this dude is lost on the stream of conciousness highway

    They just give up now...

    Dear friend,

I needed to contact you; it's due to a business worth $60,500,000.00 in a bank in Taiwan.

If you are interested, Reply me.

    Mr. Yan

I've been getting more since the economy has taken a dump... looks like everyone is looking to more work

  4. Honda claims they will offer diesels that won't need a urea catalyst to meet US emission standards - Volvo SHOULD be able to do the same since they claim to be an environmental leader and will be LATE to the market.

I think that will require redesign of the catalyst. Thought I heard somewhere that honda is going to use their nanoparticle technology to get this done. Could be mistaken though.

  5. Remember actions speaker louder than word. When I have read threads that show price comparisons between Factory Volvo Dealers who sell genuine at the same price others sell aftermarket for, honestly who you going to buy from. Thank God for Chill's Sig if i never saw it I would be lost.

Oh I hear you... I just got a 70R bumper for a steal at DW and I'm goin back for more! hahhahaaaaaaa

But, still... good to see FCP make the effort here. I'm sure DW's popularity also plays a part in this change in ethos

  6. :lol::lol::lol:

deisel engine usualy have low hp and high trq

    Congrats!

Back on topic, what about the trannies? I see that they said they improved frictional and pump losses, but what about gearing? are these trannies strong enough to handle to the 420Nm? are they geared to take advantage of the low end torque?
