If you've never been on an island for longer than a few days, you can't really understand the term "island fever". When you see the hurricane bearing down on you and realize there are only 37 sq miles of ground..... it can be a bit unnerving. (Oahu has more area than that, but 37 miles circumference is the number I think). At any rate, the walls can close in quick.
I spend a lot of time on Parrot Cay in the Turks Caicos Islands. We're talking about 3 miles long and 1/2 mile wide at the widest point, so waaaay smaller than Oahu, but same concept. They've been hounding me to move there but there isnt enough money. They keep upping the number and I keep saying no.
