Actually, I'm going to more or less agree with you on that one... I think it's reasonable to require a license/permit for carrying a gun in public like requiring a license to drive on a public road. Where the line is drawn is ownership, because as the post article you linked points out, there's no license or registration requirements for private vehicles on private land not to mention that buying a gun is much more regulated than a car already.
Carry permits simply need to be honored everywhere you go in the country just like driver's licenses (as they should be constitutionally under the full faith and credit clause) and not only issued to politicians' buddies and bodyguards like in some states (NY, MD, etc).
They got killed when the Chinese SWAT showed up, clearly not ninjas or they would have vanished.
