  1. You could try Bosch Super Plus, they are copper/irudium. I've been running them for several years with the IPD HD COP coils and mine last about 60K. And at relitively big gaps too, .035". At 60K the corners are round off slightly. And they are cheap too, only like $2 each. On another car I had with MSD 6 and high output coil/ignition module I used to burn thru the older copper Super Plus every 10K. Leaving them completely rounded off at the corners. Bosch Platinum weren't any better, the electrode would completely melt away.
  2. I know I picked up a brand new Bianchi Milano Citta in celestiel for my wife for Christmas for really cheap. Didn't even have pad marks on the rims. I do like having a light weight bike, which that Mesa Runner would never be. It's a tank. Been thinking of listing it on CL for $200obo. This bike is kinda along the same lines but modded a bit and it's going for $400. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/bik/4283009822.html
  3. LOL bubble not burst. I hear you on building something better. I've always built up used bike. Best one I did was my Trek y22 years ago that I wittled down to 20lbs for about $200 with Cane Creek Ti spoke rims. I have my first (and only) new bike I ever bought '99 Rockhopper A1 Comp FS that could use, all it needs is a replacement Thudbuster and seat thanks to my little brother. I was just looking for something that I can leave at the store and not worry about and most of the parts I have laying about waiting to be reused. Plus I wanted something with a little style. Also if I use a rear child carrier I don't want that on the Rockhopper, I would make the Mesa Runner the "kid bike".
  4. Hey guy, need some ideas on how to mod my nearly mint original 1984 Schwinn Mesa Runner. It's one of there early ATB. I've been thinking about leaving it mostly stock except changing out to aluminum rims and 2.3" fat tires, foam grips, meat tenderizer pedals. I've added a big ole fat quilted spring seat, but I'm going to ditch that maybe. I'd like to lighten it up as much as I can considering it's over 30lbs! Wish I could do something about the sidepull brakes but I think other then getting good pads I'm stuck with them. Kinda thinking making it a 26" BMX cruiser style, like the Sidewinder or King Sting retro cruiser. I'm mostly going to use it for trips into town to the shops, groscery runner, beer runner and taking my kid around on a child seat or trailer on the local rail trails. BTW the bike below isn't mine but in the same shape, mine is a bit better. I found it sitting next to a dumpster outside my buddies house about 10 years ago and stored it in the basement of my folks house till now. I started riding it before it got too cold and it's a blast so comfy, just heavy as sh*t and not much style. Any suggestions??? 1984 Schwinn Mesa Runner by vwluc, on Flickr
  5. I could have picked you up and taken you out for food/beer, I'm like 15min from Dulles. Maybe next time.
  6. My folks are in the market for a new car, looking at the s/v60s, my local dealer has v60, but IDK which one and if you can test drive them yet...
  7. Mike is more that you all have to deal with it every year. I heard the news saying some students at Georgia Tech had never seen snow... Combine that with a lack of plows, salt and a good wintercoat... My sister in-law has only driven in snow once in her life (she's 30!) having grown up in S. Florida. Her husband who grew up upstate NY was laughing at everyone on the roads, cause it's nothing to him...
  8. My sister in-law lives in Atlanta and it took her 2.5hr to get home. She said it was a nightmare... Good thing her friend had an AWD Subaru to get her around, her POS Kia would have left here stranded. Any Polestars yet? I'd jump ship to that in a heartbeat if I could swing the payments....
  9. Got the wife a Bianchi Milano Cafe Racer in Celestial for Christmas. Beautiful color with the red and black, even got her a matching red and black Giro Reverb helmet. The bike had less then a mile on it and got a killer deal, 1/2 price of new. Was looking at city/dutch/retro cruiser bike and but wanted a light weight bike too. We are going to start riding in the neighborhood and into town for errands. Just need to get her some saddle bags for grocery runs and a good lock. Make me want one too, just need to get rid of one or two bike to get one.
  10. So 2015 no excusses? If you are still in the Volvo game... And come on, how bout giving a bad case of runny diarrhea for him?
  11. OMG what will we do without him... My -1 will be so lonely. If it's just because of him, your really missing out on an amazing show every year, and I should know I've been going for 17+ years. And so what if he comes, you think he's going to start something? I'd say if anything he'd have to worry about a thumping more then you.. Although you do have your moments... Watch that on the news last night and knew you were in that... Good luck...
  12. I remember our converstion about him... He should come forward too... I think his words would silence a lot of the "Kool-aid drinkers"... I know, can't comment on being scammed if I'm smart enough to know when I'm being scammed...
  13. You mean he doesn't have a fleet of cars to test them all out on the dyno... I'll pile on too. I've never done business with ARD. And I'm not on his bandwagon. I did get close to buying a Blue tune, but when he dicked me around and tried doing a bait and switch with me at Carlisle, I bailed. I was angry that he lied to me several times, tried to get more money out of me and having him waste my time for almost a year. And Riker, you are obviously under Lucky's spell, so maybe you should just sit back and listen and not try and confront anyone. Mikes ECU was fine for 7 years, and then 2 weeks after ARD tune, it's toast... It must have been his "lucky" day... I will ask one thing, where is this softloader that was promised years ago? How's that coming...
  14. Gator! Buried the body in his suferboard bag... I want to keep an eye out for that. I saw the Hosoi doc. Kinda cool, but weird that he's was a junkie and now born again. Stacy's been doing some great docs, I have Dogtown and the Z-boys, AMAZING and Riding Giants, about big wave riding that's a really good one too. Caught all those on cable .
  15. I'll think about it too, I kept mine to hang in my Mancave as wall art. Got my '94 Duane Peters hanging in my garage currently, widest board on the market at the time @9" used an old set of Indy's since most shops didn't carry wide trucks and running Bucky Lasek Natty Bohs. Been showing my 2yr old how to ride it. One thing I'm pissed is I gave way all my classic Powell Peralta videos. Bones Brigade, Future Primitive, Animal Chin... BB is my all time favorited. I think I still have a Santa Cruz videowith Natas Kapas, most amazing shot is hime oleing onto a fire hydrent, doing a 360 on the top of it and oleing off. That guy could street skate! I might still have a 70's board, like AJ Bahne boad, in ffiberglass. The board you are asking about is Powell Peralta The Ripper, it's really narrow for the time, like 8"? Also it's not concave.
  16. Used to be.. But Chuck didn't like me "bitching" about paying $$ and wanting a glitch free site so he refunded it.. And with all the issue I've been having with VS and VR this last year, he's lucky I"m not a supported member...
  17. Agreed! And you forgot current and former military. That's the Reagen voter in you coming out...
