  1. Hey guy, need some ideas on how to mod my nearly mint original 1984 Schwinn Mesa Runner. It's one of there early ATB. I've been thinking about leaving it mostly stock except changing out to aluminum rims and 2.3" fat tires, foam grips, meat tenderizer pedals. I've added a big ole fat quilted spring seat, but I'm going to ditch that maybe. I'd like to lighten it up as much as I can considering it's over 30lbs! Wish I could do something about the sidepull brakes but I think other then getting good pads I'm stuck with them. Kinda thinking making it a 26" BMX cruiser style, like the Sidewinder or King Sting retro cruiser.

I'm mostly going to use it for trips into town to the shops, groscery runner, beer runner and taking my kid around on a child seat or trailer on the local rail trails. BTW the bike below isn't mine but in the same shape, mine is a bit better. I found it sitting next to a dumpster outside my buddies house about 10 years ago and stored it in the basement of my folks house till now. I started riding it before it got too cold and it's a blast so comfy, just heavy as sh*t and not much style.

    Any suggestions???

  2. No word on the Polestars yet, but word from VCNA is they (dealership) are getting some of the turbo & supercharged 4 cyl's in a couple weeks. VCNA wants them to drive the new V60s around for a bit and get used to the new engine and trans for a bit before they go on sale. Not a bad gig if you ask me

My folks are in the market for a new car, looking at the s/v60s, my local dealer has v60, but IDK which one and if you can test drive them yet...

  3. Mike is more that you all have to deal with it every year. I heard the news saying some students at Georgia Tech had never seen snow... Combine that with a lack of plows, salt and a good wintercoat...

My sister in-law has only driven in snow once in her life (she's 30!) having grown up in S. Florida. Her husband who grew up upstate NY was laughing at everyone on the roads, cause it's nothing to him...

  4. Got like an inch of snow here. I drove around fine all day on "summer tires" with no problem. Yet 90% of the state is like ...

My sister in-law lives in Atlanta and it took her 2.5hr to get home. She said it was a nightmare... Good thing her friend had an AWD Subaru to get her around, her POS Kia would have left here stranded.

My uncle's dealership just got 3 V50 T5 AWDs. Here's a pic he sent me of one:

Any Polestars yet? I'd jump ship to that in a heartbeat if I could swing the payments....

  5. Got the wife a Bianchi Milano Cafe Racer in Celestial for Christmas. Beautiful color with the red and black, even got her a matching red and black Giro Reverb helmet. The bike had less then a mile on it and got a killer deal, 1/2 price of new. Was looking at city/dutch/retro cruiser bike and but wanted a light weight bike too.

We are going to start riding in the neighborhood and into town for errands. Just need to get her some saddle bags for grocery runs and a good lock. Make me want one too, just need to get rid of one or two bike to get one. :(

  6. Not because of him. I couldn't give two I crapped my pants and I love how it feels about him, maybe one, not even one, I have zero I crapped my pants and I love how it feels for him.

    2012: My Graduation

    2013: Brother's Graduation

    2014: My Graduation

Why I have been there the last two years and why I won't be there next year. They're ALWAYS on the same weekend.

So 2015 no excusses? :) If you are still in the Volvo game...

And come on, how bout giving a bad case of runny diarrhea for him? :arob:

  7. well this should get interesting.

Kit vexed or W/E created a new screen name to taunt VS and Kevin. i accidentally flagged the IP as a spammer, so it now blocks the IP.

    OH well i guess.

OMG what will we do without him... My -1 will be so lonely.

...like I'll ever go to Carlisle.

If it's just because of him, your really missing out on an amazing show every year, and I should know I've been going for 17+ years. And so what if he comes, you think he's going to start something? I'd say if anything he'd have to worry about a thumping more then you.. Although you do have your moments... <_<

    :P

4 30 am. Off to what I hope is my last shift on this fire. 700+ acres lost, around 15 homes lost, but luckily no people. Containment was at 20% when I got off the line at 18:00 last night. I think more progress was made last night with some more back firing operations. Winds are picking up tonight and tomorrow, so I hope there are some good lines put in.

Watch that on the news last night and knew you were in that... Good luck...

  8. There was another prominent member here that had an IPD tune for a long time, then had a "custom" tune done by Lucky. Two months later he had a cracked number 3 cyl wall and was pulling the engine.

I remember our converstion about him... He should come forward too... I think his words would silence a lot of the "Kool-aid drinkers"... ;)

Easy now, those of us who have never personally been ripped off by ARD have no business commenting here. Apparently you have to spend $800 on a tune to know he's full of crap (or at least to be a reputable source)

    Joe

I know, can't comment on being scammed if I'm smart enough to know when I'm being scammed...

  9. Ask him how he got his base tunes. Curious to hear his response.

You mean he doesn't have a fleet of cars to test them all out on the dyno...

I'll pile on too. I've never done business with ARD. And I'm not on his bandwagon. I did get close to buying a Blue tune, but when he dicked me around and tried doing a bait and switch with me at Carlisle, I bailed. I was angry that he lied to me several times, tried to get more money out of me and having him waste my time for almost a year.

And Riker, you are obviously under Lucky's spell, so maybe you should just sit back and listen and not try and confront anyone. Mikes ECU was fine for 7 years, and then 2 weeks after ARD tune, it's toast... It must have been his "lucky" day...

I will ask one thing, where is this softloader that was promised years ago? How's that coming...

  10. Gator! Buried the body in his suferboard bag... :arob: I want to keep an eye out for that.

I saw the Hosoi doc. Kinda cool, but weird that he's was a junkie and now born again.

Stacy's been doing some great docs, I have Dogtown and the Z-boys, AMAZING and Riding Giants, about big wave riding that's a really good one too. Caught all those on cable . ;)

  11. Same for these, if they're taking up too much space let me know  . Is that a rat bones in the top pic, behind the Rob Roskopp?

I'll think about it too, I kept mine to hang in my Mancave as wall art. Got my '94 Duane Peters hanging in my garage currently, widest board on the market at the time @9" used an old set of Indy's since most shops didn't carry wide trucks and running Bucky Lasek Natty Bohs. Been showing my 2yr old how to ride it.

One thing I'm pissed is I gave way all my classic Powell Peralta videos. Bones Brigade, Future Primitive, Animal Chin... BB is my all time favorited. I think I still have a Santa Cruz videowith Natas Kapas, most amazing shot is hime oleing onto a fire hydrent, doing a 360 on the top of it and oleing off. That guy could street skate! I might still have a 70's board, like AJ Bahne boad, in ffiberglass.

The board you are asking about is Powell Peralta The Ripper, it's really narrow for the time, like 8"? Also it's not concave.

  12. Mike's problem is that he fails to recognize that there are entire professional spheres outside his conservative world where tats are entirely acceptable. Software coding, media production, high tech, design, to name a few. Sales will always have a conservative view unless your target clientele all live the bohemian life.

Agreed! And you forgot current and former military. ;)

Where in, i then have to support their ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD on some sort of handout.

That's the Reagen voter in you coming out...

  13. And probably kept any of the old decks. A friend of mine sold his Z Flex deck on ebay for like $900. I broke my foot when I was a teen, and at the time I had a Lance Mountain Crest deck that was still like new. I traded it for some crappy Mongoose BMX bike which was a deal for me back then, but today that deck would be worth about $800.

I have some of mine and my borthers '80's Powell Peralta decks still. Ripper, McGill, Steadham, Caballero mini... Some are in really good condtion.
