  1. Linking to 9gag? Wow, this thread has really hit rock bottom.
  2. Too much on the sticker for many people who would like one, but it's competitive with a fully loaded Audi Q5, which is their target competition. Remember that price tag includes a bit more gimmicky stuff than the Audi, though I think the Audi's still a better choice unless you have a strong affinity for Volvo as many of us do. Also, my Volvo dealer is a lot more willing to budge on price than my Audi dealer is (as long as its not built to order), and a comparably equipped Volvo tends to be considerably cheaper after negotiations and loyalty discounts. Regardless, the pictures I've seen of the R-design package don't impress me enough, and I don't really plan on driving any XC60 I buy like a sports car anyway. I'd prefer comfortable and relaxed handling for this vehicle, not something rigid and sporty.
  3. This reminds me of the town mom who has nothing better to do than read too far into everything done in her kids school. Teacher: OK, class. Today we are splitting into three groups. Group 1 will be billy, steven, and thomas. Group 2 will be... Mom: OMFG WTF my kid is in group 2? ARE YOU SAYING HE'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR GROUP 1? Teacher: Um... no, they are just random groups based on what row the child is sitting in. Mom: Then why didn't you just name them red group, blue group, green group? Seriously, that's what you guys sound like. I'll leave it at that.
  4. YAY NEW FEATURES! (F1rst!!!1!!)
  5. If anything, you guys are the bad guys for trying to spin CNNs story to make them look bad. Edit: As if they don't look bad to begin with. ;)
  6. If they were trying to spin it, they would have added commentary about how the number of shots fired could indicate that the shooter intended to kill his target, or something else to that effect. Also, listen to the terms used to refer to the pizza guy and the robbers, which clearly implicate the robbers as the bad guys. CNN is reporting the facts and focusing on the effect the shooting has had on the community. This is the most important aspect of the story, and also the part of the story which is most likely to affect their viewers. Think back to when you were a little kid. If you looked out the window and saw the pizza guy shoot and kill someone, how would that have affected you? The fact that the pizza guy is the good guy is irrelevant in this story. What's important is the effect the violence has on the community. If you don't get it, go read through some psych journals. Look for articles about trauma and the effect violence has on children who witness it. Moving to political.
  7. Sorry, but I disagree that CNN is putting that spin on this. I feel they are trying to make the neighborhood out to be the innocent victims here.
  8. I meant if you are using an LCD you won't save much if any power using blackle over google.com.
  9. I guess it's important to note she has a point if she focuses on the wastefulness. CRTs are worse for the environment, but if you have a good working one with no issues and you throw it in the garbage to get a pretty new LCD, the environmental cost of the new materials for the LCD and the amount of toxins in the CRT which are released into the landfill could in theory *maybe* outweigh the benefits of lower power consumption?
  10. Not to mention CRTs contain considerably more mercury and also contain lead and barium which aren't present in an LCD. They're also flicker free, which is probably good for your eyes. This reminds me of Blackle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're using an LCD you don't save any power using this site. The back light is still on behind the black. 375,830.857 Watt hours saved my ass.
  11. As my final post in this topic for the night, I will state the following: Anyone who still goes out to buy an AM/FM radio and uses a CRT monitor is not cool.
  12. First Quotable Line -> "Breast is best!"
  13. I think he has a point here, some of them are just hippie-wannabes.
  14. I still don't get why he wouldn't just sign the ticket. He was obviously being belligerent. Maybe we should have just tazed his kid repeatedly until he agreed to sign.
  15. Grats and thank you for being you, Jeremy!
  16. lrn2tazer lrn2aim god that sounds painful
  17. It seems a little extreme, and I might not have tazered the guy at that point - but he was being uncooperative. While it was just a speeding ticket, when you refuse to sign it you will be arrested. When he refuses to listen to the officer and starts walking towards the car and puts his hand in his pockets, he's borderline headed towards resisting arrest in the mind of a young cop who isn't going to take a chance that he's going to get hurt while writing a routine traffic ticket. Basically, the cop decided to not take *any* chances. He got tazed. He'll get over it. If the cop was just doing what he felt he needed to in order to remain safe, he was within his rights.
  18. If they completely wipe yahoo off the face of the earth, I'd say yes.
  19. Sucks that we need them to keep our population up, hm?
  20. Will Aston Martin be sold - maybe not today or tomorrow, but ford has been posting such great losses... I suspect AM will be sold sometime in the very near future, even if the current bids aren't enough to make it happen. As for Ford selling Volvo - Volvo is a great asset to ford. Not because of profitability so much, but more because of the R&D and technology that Volvo has made available to ford. Look at how many of Ford's cars that are on the market today are based upon the P1 or P2 platform and how they are rated within their class compared to their predecessors. Ford should not sell Volvo, but Ford should consider pushing Volvo's quality back up to what it used to be, or perhaps even higher. We'll have to wait and see how the new generation S80 and V70 models hold up to see if this is going to happen or not.
  21. Lies, that car is beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice. It was here in York at a dealership during their open house or something earlier this year, and man... I want that car. But with an engine in it! THAT WORKS.
