  1. Son drove the S60P for a couple of days and decided to clean it a bit..
  2. No. The car was sitting in a showroom and I bought it as is. Also some people advice against ceramics when a car sees a lot of gravel. The driveway of the new house is gravel and I have a lot of issues with the Polestar brakes where stones get behind the dust covers. Besides the horrendous squealing these stones can wreck ceramic rotor surfaces.
  3. Yes, Competition Package. 550Nm/450HP. CP comes with different suspension settings, differential settings, Rims 20"x9/10 with 265/285 tires, blacked out chrome parts, slightly different interior bits like fi the seats. Added Alcantara steering wheel, And M-Performance front splitter, Car is a beast to drive. Although the Polestar is a great car, specially for the money here in my country, it can't beat the feel of the M3. The Polestar is basically to much a good Volvo. To clean and to friendly.
  4. Attended "VolvoDrive Treffen" in the Netherlands with the S60P,
  5. Grapjas Not for the time being. It is a great car but I have been having serious issues with the brakes. The car received it's third set of discs today. Maybe the only modification I want to do is to make better air ducts for the front brakes. All other the car is fun. Just started exploring the suspension adjustment capabilities. Currently the car was a bit to understeering for my liking. Or a bit to heavy turn in better said. A bigger blast to drive compared to the 6 cylinder. Decided to trade the V60 btw.
  6. A sloppy lap, And some fun "scaring" Emiel in another lap,
  7. Thank you Greg. Visited the racetrack twice with the S60. First time was to get familiar with the car. An afternoon session at the TT-Circuit, Assen the Netherlands. Went alone and did some 30 laps. Had an issue with a wheel coming loose and the brakes were warped after the session. The second trip was together with Emiel and the wifes. We went to that great Belgian racetrack called Spa Francorchamps. Car was fitted with new discs and brake pads after a lot of hassle because Volvocars didn't have brakes in stock.. We had great fun and the car did reasonably well. Used all Volvo-Polestar provided settings for tire pressure and suspension but I had a bit of a hard time getting used to the somewhat understeering behaviour of the car. Power wise it was a blast.
  8. No this is the 6 cylinder. Two years on the road now. I think you are talking about this one, Has done 7900 km so far. A blast to drive. Had so say hi because this thread got archived already.. ;)
  9. Guess it would have but one thing lead to the other and eventually only curiosity was left.
  10. Dig this.. Literally .. We wanted to repave a part next to the house where rain water didn't move. After heavy rain a larger puddle of water kept standing against the house for longer time. Don't have picture of standing water before the pavement went out but this is what it looked like, (left red stone) After taking the stones out water still didn't move that fast. The moss on the wall stones shows where the water often kept standing. There was a drain but it was blocked. Tested the drain by pushing a running hose in the drain pipe but after about 5 ft it stopped. Digging at the spot showed a brick drain collector with 3 pipes. One where we came from, one blocked and one leading to the back of the house. We were under the impression that rain water drainage runs to the front of the house to the street because this is how it has been done over the years. There is a ditch at the back of the house but it is 68 yard from the drain point.. Maybe there was more to it so we put the hose in the pipe leading to the back of the house but after 12 yard it stopped. Measuring the distance above grond with some assumptions led us to an apple tree... Hm.. Maybe a root growing through the pipe so after searching for the pipe with a metal pin at the collector point and again near the tree revealed something present near the tree at the same depth. About a foot and a half. Digging at the spot didn't turn up a pipe but debris.. Brick.. Lots of it. But no pipe. After more digging and removing brick, plastered brick and more brick we ended up in what appeared to be an old layered brick septic tank.. But no pipe.. Being fed up I called a plumber who I knew had a very long distance high pressure cleaning device with a transmitter. Just the right gadget for the job. Two days later the guy arrived and rolled out the equipment. A couple of minutes later the cleaner went underground and a lot of noise could be heard coming from under ground going in the direction of the septic tank after which it stopped.. briefly. The noise went on going underneath the terras in to the lawn behind the house after which it stopped again. The plumber said that it had entered some sort of well or another collector point but it was underneath the lawn. Using the very sophisticated receiver the plumber pinpointed the spot where the transmitter in the cleaner tip had stopped. Using the metal pin again there appeared to be something there and some more pinching gave us a contour which looked like a rectangular shaped box or lid so we started digging. (In the immaculate lawn..) Turned out to be another collector point with 4 pipes one pointing to the ditch. So maybe the drain was running to the ditch after all.. Next the high pressure cleaner was put in the pipe leading to the ditch and it went on for another 23 yard after which it stopped again. Pinpointing the location gave us a direction so we searched the ditch for a drain exit but couldn't find anything. One more try with the cleaner only progressed a couple of yard but that was it. After the plumber left I decided to get the mini digger and dig up the pipe at both locations which revealed that the angle of how the the pipe was running from the house was different from assumed. Another search revealed the drain exit in the ditch but turned out to be a couple of yards from the previous assumed location. The drain exit was overgrown and partially blocked with root/grass whatever stuff. In an attempt to clean the pipe a lot of rubbish came out.. Using the water hose again in the opposite direction from ditch to house it appears the drain was blocked little over 5 yard from the ditch at which point it appeared that one of the poles of a nearby fence was right on top of where the pipe ran. I decided to dig up the pipe between the two block points, about 8 yard, only to find an old cracked fence pole running right through the pipe and a huge tree root running in to the pipe. The only way to solve the issue was to install a new piece of pipe, Finding the larger brick chunks which are the remainders of an old pig stable made me curious.. Investigating the history of the house already gave me some knowledge but I hadn't expected to find old pieces of the stable. A bit of history, December 1944 our RAF friend made some nice aerial photographs and a couple of hours searching the photo's revealed the situation of the house at the time, The stable can clearly be seen at the bottom. This is Apple Maps 2012 data, A already had some pictures of the house dating somewhere '70's, And also drawing made in 1974 right before the stable was demolished. Some digging in the week before to map the sewage system outside the house already revealed a foundation of one of the main poles of the former stable. Which exactly corresponded with the location shown on the old drawing so I started searching for the foundation of the pole next to it to reveal this, So there had to be more.. and there was, This is the corner as shown in the picture. Turns out the foundation of the front and the side up to the big doors is still present..
  11. About those 336's, I don't think a suitable bracket is available. The Focus RS also uses these brakes but uses the wider mount pattern of the bracket afaik. P80 is different also. @Commander Riker, TNX! Some doors are 1.85 mtr. Others are little over 2 mtr.
  12. After nearly 15K miles with the DOP 850 T-5R it was time to look out for something more suitable for a daily driver for my son. A bit to much mileage on the T-5R for my liking but my son was very happy with the car and I thought would become a struggle to get him out of that car which he adores so much. Not that he never gets to drive the 850 again but with the parts becoming harder to get I think 13.5 K miles in the last year alone on that car is pushing it. Having had my share of P2's I didn't think it was a wise choice to look for those models specially not R models. Lot's of imported cars in my country with high mileage and costly repairs waiting. The P1's appeared to be a better choice. Thing is that in Europe we had a lot of versions of those models. Various diesel versions which were popular in lease and a whole lot of gasoline versions starting with a 1.6 engine. I don't think my son would give up a mildly tuned T-5R for a 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 NA version.. Eventually we ended up with a ten year old V50 T5 6 speed AWD. Car has done 100K miles. Reasonable money but not cheap because those models are rare in my country. Car came with some nice options like NAV which wasn't all that common at the time. Also came with some lesser desired options like silver mirror caps and roof rails. About a week after arrival of the car I had the Volvo dealer perform a check up on the car after which it turned out some minor fixes were needed. The AWD spline was gone.. My son mentioned a sort of snap sound coming from the driveline of the car when he pulled up from a traffic light. This was only once. Think it was the spline giving up. Although new the wrong front rotors were mounted. AWD uses 320 mm rotos and 316 or so were mounted which cause an occasional grinding sound coming from the front brakes. All other were mainly minor ageing defects. In the mean time there was a Simons exhaust fitted all of a sudden.. Turned out my son had ordered it because there was a rattle in the original one. We ordered so Eibach springs and looked at removing the roof rails but the replacement strips are very costly and need painting also so we decided to change that at a later time. Being in the middle of moving to the new house I had the car to the dealer perform the repair of the AWD. While at the dealer there was a same color used V50 on the lot without the roof rails and I jokingly suggested to exchange the parts. Which they did.. At no cost. Great service. My son working as a cleaner at a local paint shop in the weekends painted the mirror caps together with his boss, the painter, and as expected he came to me the other day if he could fit the C70 18" Midir's of mom's C70 which were shelved in the "Shed". These Midir's are wider 8" vs 7.5" for the original P1 Midir's and the ET is 45 instead of 52.5 so I wondered if they would fit but the do although barely at the front. The C70 is a half breed when it comes to platform size. It is basically a P1 with a wider body but not like the P3's which have near similar body width but wider platform size. Anyway, progress so far, Car isn't tuned but there is a larger downpipe mounted so I suspect there has been some kind of tuning on the car in the past. Engine/turbo needs further checkup after which a tuning will be added. New filters and fluids has been done. New TCV also but there is slight overspool on the turbo probably caused by the larger downpipe. Could also be a bad actuator.
  13. Yep. Plus one design radiator which is backordered. The window in the staircase, Was looking for a sort of industrial look. Needs further finishing. About the Polestar.. Unfortunately Volvo in the Netherlands screwed up the registration of the car and didn't manage to deliver the registration plates in time. From what I could find it appears the car received it's licence plate numbers this afternoon after 3 'o clock. Not enough time to get the paperwork back and forth. Needed to produce the plates. Like already mentioned the plates should have arrived last Tuesday but apparently the type approval for this model wasn't ready.
  14. Just throw away those dials and all will be OK.. Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately there are some issues with the registration of the car. Don't know exactly what is wrong but it had something to do with the Certificate of Conformity.. Maybe because it could be the first 2017 Polestar in the country. The licence plates should have arrived last Tuesday but this morning there still wasn't anything in the mailbox. Dealer hopes to deliver the car tomorrow afternoon. If not I guess I have to wait till next Tuesday.. At least I was able to take the car for a spin around the block and so far nothing disappoints. First of all I was very surprised to see a compass in the rear view mirror. Then there was the exhaust sound which way way beyond what I expected. It isn't hauling like the 6 cylinder but has a deep tone to it combined with a Supercharger whine from the front. During mild load sport mode manual shifting the car farts like a VAG .. Luckily not as extreme as for instance the BMW M235i. Can't wait. Hope things work out for the positive tomorrow. Oh.. Because also racecar,
  15. Another month by. Last weekend was the first night sleeping in the new house. About a month ago we have set ourselves a deadline for the first stage of the rebuild for the simple reason that there's always something which can be changed or overhauled. The bathroom took a bit longer because the plaster work caused the room to be very humid and it took about two weeks before the space was dry enough to finish. But the results are something to write about imo.. Saved the original bathroom door, Door handles are temporary. The staircase was rerouted because of the new floor added. A corridor was made but leads only to one bedroom for the time being. This will change when the second part of the floor will be finished in the coming months. The corridor was also made to close out that area while being worked on. The side corridor leading to the master bedroom is finished, The old oak roof supports were left in sight. New isolation was added in between. Picture shows wife and youngest son checking out 4.80 mtr of IKEA cabinets, 18 drawers. For the staircase ceiling an old oak truss was reused. The stairs themselves still need to be finished. Will be made of steel U-profile beams and oak steps. Sort of industrial style. There also a large window added between the stair car and corridor. No pictures of it yet, will post when finished the way I want it to be. The bar area as mentioned is a slow moving project but made some progress. It now basically consists of ideas and trials but the basis is now functional. For lighting I chose Philips HUE. Also for the sons bedrooms and kitchen btw. All of this had me growing a beard in the last 3 months.. In the mean time the car stuff didn't pauze. As mentioned I traded the V40 CE for a Polestar S60 which arrived at the dealer last week, The car is of amazing beauty.. Car will be delivered this coming Friday.
  16. This is how the painted tiles turned out, @Hussein, After investigating mods for the V40 it turned out Volvo themselves came with a solution. Beginning of May I ordered a 2017 Polestar S60. The 2.0 4 cylinder version with the 8 speed gearbox. Without a sunroof and White...
  17. Some minor progress.. Most of the paintwork has been done. Bathroom is progressing well but very hard to take nice pictures. Maybe when the lighting is installed I will make an attempt. The bar is partially installed and has a drain and running water. We had to put it to use because the kitchen is being painted at the moment. There is an oak floor underneath and the oak top deck will be installed next week. The kitchen has been teared apart. Kitchen drawers and doors will be sprayed. Tiles received a coating to accept paint. In the mean time there was another development... SD14 has been sold..
  18. Things are sort of taking shape now. Removed the floor protection revealing the old oak floor, Decided to remove the concrete floor next to the bathroom in the extended area and pour new concrete because the floor of "de deel" wasn't level with this part. Floor has been surface finished and will receive an oak deck. Also a bar will be installed so water and a drain has been prepared. In the mean time spring arrived and some maintenance was needed.. I put my green fingers to use.. The driveway isn't part of the property but it is a dead end street leading to the only house on it. Up to the house the surface is hardened /asphalt. The remaining part is entrance to farm land. Took a picture of the RS500 on this part of that road a couple of year ago..
  19. Slow progress, moved some stuff from the current house, But the weather doesn't play nice.. The ceiling of the "deel" extension is finished, Also cut away the uneven pattern of the wood cladding. Thinking about transforming this area in to some sort of bar style thing. The painting is slowly progressing. Door and window frames were painted white, the inner sufaces semi gloss grey, Currently working on a floor on top of "De deel", an area unused at the moment. The ceiling of de deel is literally made of trees cut in half over the full length. The isolation was removed but this left a see through ceiling. Anything new on top would show through. To avoid the issue we decided to paint all the floor beams a very dark brownish/black. 18 beams were painted before installing. Added to that 100 small plates were painted also, The result looks like this, The beams were aligned on top of the old oak trusses. The plates put in between the beams and isolation was added on top, The second part of the floor will be finished today. A nice Volvo moment,
  20. Some progress with the renovation, Most of the brickwork is done, The bathroom floor needs to be removed to install floor heating before is can be rebuild. My oldest son doesn't like the traditional style and his new ground level bedroom had a very traditional look with low ceiling. Lot of wood cladding. I removed everything from the room including the low ceiling. Turned out the brick walls didn't run all the way to the roof. Outside wall was a double brick, cavity?, wall but only just above the low ceiling. Walls have been extended to the roof, a door leading to the bathroom was removed and drywall used for the ceiling to give it a bit more modern look. All done by people will skills.. I'm good at tearing things apart.. Needs to be said that there is no square angle in the house.. Paintwork in the high living room has begun. The ceiling has been sealed because there still was a lot of dust coming from seams in the ceiling even after thorough vacuum cleaning. On the right side of the fireplace there used to be a small bench nailed to the wall and floor. After removing it turned out the old oak floor didn't extend all the way to the wall. The carpenter did a great job repairing the floor. Most of the work in the house is done by a carpenter and his apprentice which is his son. The carpenters brother does the brick work but because of an illness he only works in the afternoons. Takes a bit different planning but I think the work has been progressing well. Like mentioned I try to as much of the removal work as possible myself. The apprentice prepares the work place for his uncle so he can immediately start with the work. The kitchen, A very tiny kitchen but only needed to make the food. With the old farm houses people were mostly living in what we call a living kitchen. The living itself was basically only used for special occasions and the Sunday. The living kitchen is somewhat larger, And will be left as is. Only the plaster work will be repainted. the woodwork will remain untouched. On the outside a new terrace will be build. I hired a gardener who started this week. A tree was in the way and the gardener suggested to cut the tree. I'm absolutely to tree hugger but I couldn't agree to cut this weird looking very old tree to pieces so I suggested to relocate.. Against all the advice.. Still had an old workhorse handy, Removed the tree, It's new home, And progress of the terrace,
  21. I don't think I understand what you are asking here. For now the barn will basically stay as it is. On the left side I want to make a small isolated computer room. The space in the picture where you can see the yellow bucket on the left. There is no heating in the barn and it is extremely well ventilated as you can see in the picture in the back just below the roof line. Above the walls everything is open. I want to build the room from the scratch material which came out of the house, in the picture the pile of wood on the richt and the white beams in front of the workbench, which has been made of that same material btw. Sort of Workbench 2.0 After the mess is cleared I want to place the workbench to the back wall. This because from all the poles in the barn run beams to the next pole and the outside walls and sit at ~1.85 mtr. height except for the two mentioned spaces.
