  1. Barn find. After ~25 years the wife and I decided to leave the industrial area and move to something slightly more outdoors.. The house itself is a 168 year old farm house.. As pictured we also found a barn on the 4.6 acre property which comes with it. Later this year Area 55 will be history. The new property comes with number 31 so to keep tradition it will be named Area 31.. Officially the deal was sealed October last year but the transfer was March 1st this year. Currently rebuilding some parts of the house, other parts will mostly be left in the original style. One small issue was a part of the living room. The free height was only 1.95 mtr., The ceiling has been raised by roughly 30 cm. With my 1.91 mtr. it brings a bit more breathing space. The other part of the living is 3.40 mtr. high. The other part being changed is the bathroom. There used to be two small bathroom with a bedroom in-between. The bedroom and one bathroom have been removed and the other bathroom is going to be extended. The house being a traditional Dutch farm house the bathrooms and bedroom were situated in the former stable area. I don't know how it is called in US-English but the center part of the stable is called "de deel" in Dutch. This part has been converted to living space including an old French fire place. The part where the removed bathroom used to be will become an extension of "de deel" to bring some more light in to the space. De deel didn't have any outside windows so no direct light coming in. The brickwork is half way done. Had to reuse some old bricks because they had old, now non standard, dimensions. The other wall wil use new type bricks. An impression of the outside light coming in, So for the time being the Volvo developments will be on the back burner.
  2. Funny.. Currently rebuilding the new house and ran in to a similar issue.. One part of the living room was only 1.95 mtr. high. We upped the ceiling by 30 cm but there was also a huge support beam in the way. Luckily that spot is 2 mtr. high so "doable" New,
  3. Well.. With a mustache at least it looks masculine. The C bumper always reminds me of an emoticon.
  4. Universal glue will do.. Spoiler is nice. C bumper is ugly. Not your fault but Volvo's .. Maybe some matte black wrap inside the intake area and surrounding the fog lights would make it better.
  5. Post a picture of that same space in a year.. There's never enough space..
  6. Check 4G frequency. Maybe the US version is off vs Euro.
  7. Your Do88 pics don't show.. The C30 didn't run. The engine is in with the turbo and manifold but I don't like the setup. The EWG runs very close to the coolant/heater hoses. The other bottleneck was rebuilding a CANbus car with a 1.6 base CEM to 5 cylinder. Couldn't make up my mind. Also bought the RS500 at the time which was basically a similar car. Tired of working on cars, to many cars, relocating the workshop, sudden impulsive projects like the T-5R, SD11, SD-ERC etc. etc. The way I'm looking at it now I want to finish the CY SD-ERC car and start with the SD10, 242, again. The C30 isn't on the list for the time being.
  8. Be aware that Volvo is now starting to phase out the T6 and T5 AWD's in favour of the 4 Cylinders also in the US. MY2016 should mostly be VEA( or Drive-E) by now.
  9. Glad it works this way. I assume that unplugging the battery would be similar to a reset for the learning functions. You didn't accidentally flip the key 180 degree? Congrats having the engine running! Appears to run smooth. You might check the converter at some point if it isn't damaged or clogged because of the oil in the exhaust.
  10. Could be like mentioned a bad antenna ring.
  11. RobertDIY to the rescue! Had to install hood springs but didn't want to remove the fenders.. Searched the web and viewed Robert Spinner's video about removing/replacing hood springs... Made spring long enough to fit. Installed both sides and closed the hood.. Heard the wood pieces falling out of the spring and done! . Fuel lines are in place,
  12. Bolt pattern is the same. Turbo friction is 240 mm, NA 230 mm.
  13. That is basically what I did with the Stack dash...
  14. It has been 4 months since last working on the car.. Used to be a rally car. Fuel lines were running inside the car. Not a real fan of such a setup.
  15. Received some parts for the fuel system overhaul. Also bought a used pump unit from the scrap yard. Removed the tank from the car including ~45 ltr of fuel. Once out I removed the pump unit but no pump was in there. Obvious because no wires were coming out of it. Exchanged the unit with the one from the yard and emptied the tank while testing the pump while at it. To mount the new fuel lines I ordered the plastic "line holder cover" or whatever it is called new from Volvo because I couldn't find used parts except damaged ones. A bit of a puzzle because of the battered underside of the car. Also all the threaded mounting studs were missing. Drilled holes and sourced screws which resembled the mounting studs. And of course a filter,
  16. The journal size might be the same but the cover itself could be slightly shifted on the center pins. Effectively this would make the bore smaller.
  17. Officially it is not the way no. Maybe bolt the cover on without the cams and check the cam bore just to make sure. Good luck, nice project!
  18. Looks very nice! I love the big stones/bricks.
  19. This winter is extremely mild .. More like autumn.
  20. After four months time to do some work on the ex rally project again.. Car needs a fuel system overhaul. What is in the car is a big mess. Ordered new fuel lines and filter. Need to find a way to attach the lines under the car again. Underside of the car took a lot of beating and is slightly out of shape. Also remove the drain pipe called exhaust, For the 242 I have been experimenting with the electronic throttle option of the Link G4 ECU. Turned out the Volvo e-throttle pedal can't be used because it doesn't provide two 5 volt channels. Found a VAG pedal which does. Volvo uses one 5 volt channel and one 12 volt PWM channel generated from the pedal. The G4 doesn't recognise that setup. Still needs some slight PID tuning but it is up and running.
